This is a friendly introduction to the sport of Strongman. If you're a Novice competitor this is definitely one to do!

Day before, Friday May 19th 8:00-9:30am, 4:00-7:00pm

Rules

Equipment allowed - Chalk, 2 belts max (1 soft & 1 hard), elbow and knee sleeves, wrist wraps, wrist straps (for Deadlift only), grip shirts (no Strongman Corp or OSG logos), Tacky Towel (For Stone of Steel Only),

Max Log Press

Athletes will be allowed 3 attempts to achieve their heaviest Log Press, Wessel's Rules
If an athlete fails to get an attempt at their chosen weight they are done
Women will use a 10" Log and Men will use a 12" Log.
Athlete will clean log from floor and press overhead. Once athlete demonstrates control of the log overhead with elbows, hips, and knees locked out and feet parallel the judge will give a verbal and visual "Down" command.
Women's log will start at 70lbs and increase in 5lb increments
Men's Log will start at 180lbs and increase in 10lb increments
Once the weight is increased it will not go back down

Car Deadlift

Athletes will have 60 seconds to get as many reps as they can
Judge will give a verbal and visual "Down" command once the athlete has successfully deadlifted the implement
A good lift is when the athlete's knees, hips, and shoulders are locked out and control is demonstrated

Farmer's Walk

Athletes will have a 60 second time limit
Course is 50' down and back
Scoring will be fastest time course is completed followed by furthest distance if anyone is unable to complete course in time limit

Sandbag Carry & Drag

Athletes will have a 60 second time limit
Athletes will have 2 sandbags to load into a sled, once both bags are loaded athlete will drag sled back through start line
Course will be 50'
Sandbags must be carried in front, shouldering bag is not allowed
Athlete will face sled pulling it backwards

Stone of Steel Over Bar

Athletes will have a 60 second time limit to complete as many reps as possible.
Women will load a 17" SoS to a 48" bar, Men will load a 20" SoS to a 52" bar
Pretty simple, pick it up and load it over the bar. Spotter will return stone to the athlete as quickly as possible
