RULES >

Duel of the Decade // dueling deadlifts
Equipment: deadlift bar
Pick height:  from the ground (standard plates)
Athletes will face off - literally - in this Duel of the Decade. Judges will be seated back-to-back facing each athlete, while the athletes face one another in an in-your-face battle for reps. Athlete has 60 seconds to complete as many reps as possible. Lift is from the ground. Each successful lockout at the top of the lift will receive a down command. Athlete must wait for down command for lift to count.

Allowed: belts, sleeves, wraps, straps
Not allowed: suits, sticky stuff of any kind, hooks, sumo

Steel Showdown // max log press
Equipment: 12" log
Pick details: Log will be stationed with a crash pad on either side - athlete will pick from there and return to pads
Log weight will be called auction-style. We'll open at 85 lbs. Details on jumps TBD. Athlete may jump in/out at any point, with three total attempts. If an attempt is missed, athlete is done. Ties fall to opener, then to second attempt. Example: Athlete A presses 250-280-290, Athlete B presses 240-270-290 - Athlete A takes the points for opening at the higher weight. If their openers had been the same, Athlete A would still take the points for their second attempt being higher. 30 seconds to complete the lift. Judge will call down command. Athlete must wait for down command for lift to count. Do not intentionally throw/drop the log from the top - this will result in a no-lift. Do not intentionally sit the log on your head (yes - this has happened; this will result in a no-lift). If you cannot lockout at the top due to mobility issues, you must demonstrate this to your judge ahead of time and receive the go-ahead for this lift.

Allowed: belts, sleeves, wrist wraps, grip shirts
Not allowed:  straps, hooks, sticky stuff of any kind

Xtreme Pull // chain + barrel drag
Equipment:  Thicc chain attached to barrel(s)
A barrel or multiple barrels will be attached to the end of a 30-foot, 200 lb. chain for this event. Athlete, chain and barrel(s) will start behind line. On go, Athlete will pull the chain until it is fully extended, then use the chain to pull the barrel(s) across the finish line (30 feet - the full length of the chain). 90 seconds to complete the pull. Athlete may NOT touch the barrel(s) at any point, but may pull with the chain in whatever way works best (over shoulder, arm-over-arm, etc.). Time stops when Athlete, full length of chain and barrel(s) cross the finish line.

Allowed: belts, sleeves, wrist wraps, gloves
Not allowed: sticky stuff of any kind

DecaDigit Destruction // Fingal's fingers for reps
Equipment: Fingal's fingers (details to come)
Lift details: Fingal's will rest on a crash pad at the bottom of each lift
Athlete will pick and flip the implement back and forth as many times as possible in 45 seconds. Time will start with hands-off the implement and athlete behind starting line. If time ends as finger is mid-flip with athlete hands-off, flip counts. Spotters with crash pads will be located on each side of the implement; finger will land and be picked from pad each time. Do NOT rest the implement on your belt or head. Intentional rest on your belt/head will result in a one-rep penalty (and possibly a headache). Do not put your fingers inside the implement while lifting. Athletes who get 10 or more reps receive a special prize in honor of the 10th Annual event!

Allowed: belts, sleeves, wrist wraps, grip shirts
Not allowed: gloves, tacky

Anniversary Atlas Annihilation // head-to-head stone over bar
Equipment: Concrete stones, wooden
Head-to-head atlas stone over bar for reps. Athlete with least points will go head-to-head with athlete with next least points. When one athlete drops, the next in order of points will take their place. This will continue until one athlete remains; each class will follow the same layout and reps will be counted. Athletes will begin with hands off stone. Once athlete begins their lift, they'll have 30 seconds to complete it. Do NOT grab the bar.

Allowed: belts, sleeves, wrist wraps, stone sleeves, grip shirts, chalk, tacky towels only
Not allowed: tacky, spray tacky, liquid tacky, your mom's tacky sweater, gloves, suits
