Event Descriptions

Circus Dumbbell Press for Reps

  • Athlete will begin in front of the circus dumbbell. The athlete will have 60s to clean and press the dumbbell for as many reps as possible.
  • The DB must touch the ground between every successful press. It may be dropped on the crash pad or controlled and touched.
  • Athlete must wait for the judges down signal for a successful repetition. A successful repetition is given when the DB is locked out overhead with the athlete still. Judges must be notified if you have an unconventional lockout due to injury. Lack of mobility is not an acceptable excuse.
  • The athlete may use two hands to clean the DB and set it into position, but the non-pressing arm must be removed before the pressing motion has begun. The non-loaded arm may not assist in locking out the DB. If the non-loaded arm touches the DB before a down command is given, the repetition will not be counted.
  • Athlete may alternate arms but it is not required.
  • A mix of DB will be used for the event. The women's divisions besides HW will use a loadable DB with 1.75" handle, HW women will use a Cyr DB replica with 2" handle. Men's open division besides HW will use Rogue Monster DB with 2.5" handle, HW will use a plate loaded DB with 3" handle. Men's teen division will use Cyr DB replica.
  • Assistive equipment is allowed.

Sandbag Loading Medley

  • The athlete will begin behind a line of sandbags. The athlete will have 60s to load as much weight into a truck bed (or over Yoke bar; TBD) 15 ft away in 60s.
  • The athlete will choose any of the sandbags to load from a variety of bags to compile the most weight possible. Total weight will be scored at the end of the 60s.
  • The sandbags may be loaded in any order of the athletes' decision.
  • Sandbag weights will be announced before the contest.
  • All assistive equipment is allowed. If wearing a hard belt, the buckle must be turned to the back. No tacky or tacky towels.

Mammoth Bar Deadlift for Max

  • Rising bar style deadlift event
  • The bar will start at a determined weight for 2-3 lanes. The athlete will jump have 3 attempts to lift the heaviest weight for 1 repetition. Weight Jumps will be announced before the competition.
  • The athlete may skip any attempts and can jump in when they want to take an attempt. The athlete must be ready to lift when their weight is on the bar and notify the judge that they are taking an attempt.
  • The athlete must wait for a down command from the judge for a successful repetition. A down command is given when the athlete is standing up with the knees, and hips extended and the head up.
  • Equipment allowed: straps (any style), wraps, sleeves, belts
  • No suits. Athlete must have shoes on of any style.

Yoke Series

  • Athlete may begin the event set up in the yoke. At the judges start command, the athlete will carry the yoke 40ft, set the yoke down where weight will be added, and then bring the yoke back to the start line.
  • If the athlete cannot complete the entirety of the course, distance will be scored.
  • The athlete is allowed unlimited drops.
  • Yoke height must be determined before the event and given to the judge.
  • All assistive equipment is allowed.

Max Sandbag to Shoulder

  • The athlete will begin behind a line to start the event. The athlete will have 60s to load the heaviest sandbag to their shoulder for a successful lift.
  • The athlete will choose from a selection of sandbags on their attempted weights.
  • The score will be determined by heaviest sandbag with a tie breaker on bags attempted. (Example: if an athlete loads a 250lb bag then a 300lb bag and another athlete only loads attempts and lifts the 300lb bag, the second athlete will win the tie breaker.)
  • The athlete may go down in weight if a lift is unsuccessful and there is time remaining.
  • A successful lift is determined with the athlete has the sandbag on their shoulder with the non-loaded arm off the sandbag. The athlete must have the bag on their shoulder, not supported by the arm or elbow. The judge must have given a down command before time expires for a successful lift.
  • Assistive equipment allowed. If wearing a hard belt, the buckle must be turned to the back. No tacky or tacky towels.
