EVENT DESCRIPTIONS
Special note for one-handed division athletes: Yes, you will be doing the same events. You may use a strap, a harness, or a prosthetic to allow "two hands". You may also opt to carry only one of the farmers handles if you want. We are working on a sponsor to provide harnesses.
Max Axle: Athlete will have 3 attempts to lift the most weight possible. Elbow sleeves, wrist wraps, and belts are allowed. Athletes may take all 3 attempts even if they missed one, however the weight cannot be reduced. So if you miss on your first attempt, you may dry hump it another two times if you like. 30 seconds per attempt, you may try to press as many times as you're able within the 30 seconds. As always, the athlete must wait for the down call before the lift will count. Seated athletes will be handed the axle to their shoulders (aka the pressing position) and then given the press command, the 30 seconds will start at that time.
Car Deadlift: 60 seconds to get the most reps possible. Athletes must wait for the down command each rep. You will have 3 choices, the car/tire by itself, the car/tire + 45lb plates on the pins, or car/tire + 100lb plates on the pins. You may NOT go down once you select your weight - if you zero at the heavy weight, you zero the event. 1 rep at the heavier setting beats any number of reps at a lighter setting. Straps are allowed, suits are allowed, frame will be on 2 boards. Women will be able to use the front handles, men will be using the back handles.
Lever Lift: 60 seconds to get the most reps possible. Athletes must wait for the down command each rep. One of the rear pegs on the level must touch the mat for the rep to count. You will have 3 weight choices. You may NOT go down once you select your weight - if you zero at the heavy weight, you zero the event. 1 rep at the heavier setting beats any number of reps at a lighter setting. Straps are allowed. We will be using a custom made chair that sits 24" high to prevent anyone from putting their feet on the ground.
Yoke/Frame Medley: 90 second time limit. 50 feet each implement, straight course, no turns. Carry the yoke down to the farmers, carry the farmers back to the starting line. The entire implement must cross the line. You'll have 3 weight choices. The weight choice applies to BOTH implements - you pick the light yoke, you carry the light farmers. You must at least complete the yoke to receive a score. Similar to the previous event, weight trumps speed for scoring. If you take the heavy yoke 50 feet and die on the farmers and another athlete finishes the whole thing in 20 seconds with the lighter weight, you win. You may not go down in weight if you fail at a heavier weight. Belts and knee sleeves or even knee wraps are allowed.
Casket Drag: 90 second time limit. 50 foot course. Casket will be on the ground behind the athlete and hooked to the athlete via a harness and strap. 3 weight choices, half the course at a heavier weight beats any speed at a lighter weight. You may not go down in weight if you fail at a heavier weight.
Sandbag Loading Race: 90 second time limit. Standing class will pick up the sandbags from the ground and carry them 15 feet before loading them onto a large spool. Seated class will load from barrels onto the spool. Sandbags must be loaded lightest to heaviest. Splits will be taken for each bag loaded.
Truck Pull: Standing class will do rope and harness, seated class will do arm over arm. Seated class will be using the same chair that was used in the lever lift - so feet will not be touching the ground. 60 second time limit.
