Anchor of Iron Summer Showdown

Event 1: Yoke sled push for Distance  

60 second time limit. Athlete may start with hands on the yoke. On the command GO athlete will push the yoke to the opposite sideline, the whole yoke must cross the opposite sideline before the Athlete can begin to push the yoke back in the opposite direction, again the “whole yoke must cross the sideline before continuing”. Same must be completed if Athlete reaches the opposite sideline again. Athlete keeps going until time runs out & distance will be recorded.

Equipment Allowed: Chalk, Knee sleeves, Knee wraps, Elbow wraps, Elbow sleeves, Belts, Wrist wraps, Gloves

Equipment NOT Allowed: Tacky or Towel Tacky, Supportive suits,

 

Event 2: Log max effort 

Ladder style. 60 second limit per attempt. Weight will increase by 5lbs each round “last man standing” rules. Weight will not decrease. Athlete will have 3 attempts. Athlete may choose attempt weights. The last recorded successful lift will be recorded. Heaviest lift wins in the weight class.

A Good lift: Athlete must lift the log fully above head with both arms locked, legs and feet in line. While showing control. Once the signal is given for a good lift the athlete must return the log to the floor under control. Dropping the log will result in a “NO Lift” (unless the athlete is clearly bailing from an attempt)

Equipment Allowed: Chalk, Knee sleeves, Elbow sleeves, Wrist wraps, Elbow wraps, Knee wraps, Belts

Equipment NOT Allowed: Tacky or Towel Tacky, Supportive suits, built up belts 

Men Log Diameter 12”

Starting log weight men: 155

Women log Diameter: 10" 

Starting log weight women: 75

 

Event 3: Sandbag toss over bar max reps

The Athlete will have 60 seconds to get as many reps over the bar as possible. The athlete will stand with their back towards the uprights. The Athlete will throw bags over their head using one or two hands. The sandbag must go over the bar within the inside of the uprights to be counted. The sandbag may touch the crossbar as it goes over. As soon as the bag goes over the cross member the athlete can go grab another bag and begin to throw. once the last bag hits the ground the athlete can then go to the other side and begin to throw the sandbags back over. If a sandbag crosses over the bar when time stops that rep will be counted. if it has not crossed the bar when time stops that rep will not count

Women’s height of crossbar: 10ft 

Men’s height of crossbar: 12ft

Equipment not allowed: Tacky, Tacky TowelSupportive Suits, Straps, built up belts 

 

Event 4: Max Effort Deadlift 

Ladder style. 60 second limit per attempt. Weight will increase by 5lbs each round “last man standing” rules. Weight will not decrease. Athlete will have 3 attempts. Athlete may choose attempt weights. The last recorded success full lift will be recorded. Heaviest lift wins in the weight class.

A Good lift: Athlete must lift the barbell to a standing position with head up, shoulders back, legs and feet in line. While showing control. Once the signal is given for a good lift the athlete must return the bar to the floor under control. Dropping the bar will result in a “NO Lift”. Unless bailing from an attempt. No sumo pulling arm must be on the outside of the legs when athlete attempts the lift.

Equipment Allowed: Chalk, Knee sleeves, Elbow sleeves, Belts, Wrist wraps, Knee wraps, Straps, Figure 8 straps, Mixed grip, hook grip

Equipment Not Allowed: Supportive suits, Tacky or Tacky towel, built up belts, 

Bar Diameter: 1.5” & starting at standard deadlift height 

 

Event 5: Sandbag toss over bar max height 

60 second limit per attempt, Athlete will have 3 attempts. The athlete may enter the event at any height in the competition. Once the bar begins to raise it will not go back down. Bar will raise every 6" and the height will be called out for the athlete to attempt. The athlete will stand with their back towards the uprights. The Athlete will throw bag over their head using one or two hands. The sandbag must go over the bar within the inside of the uprights to be counted. The sandbag my touch the crossbar as it goes over. Highest completed toss will be recorded for each athlete. highest attempt wins for their weight class.
