#1: 4, 3, 2, 1 Ladder
What athletes will be using:
Popsport 10” log
Cerberus axle with DC Blocks for deficit
Texas Power Concept 6” CDB
Kabuki deadlift bar
Cerberus crash pads for log and CDB
Kabuki bumper/iron plates
Ghost Strong calibrated plates
Cerberus collars
Athletes will start off the mat.
Athletes will have 90 seconds for this event.
On the go command from the judge:
Athletes must press a log overhead for 4 reps. Log must be fully locked out at the top with head through the log, knees and arms locked out and both feet planted on the ground. Athletes must receive a down command before moving on to the next rep. Athletes do not need to clean each rep. Athletes may use split jerk, push jerk, viper or push press to press the log overhead. If an athlete uses a split jerk technique, you must have both feet planted on the ground, and not in the split position, in order to get the down command. If wearing a hard belt, buckle or lever must be placed in the back. Athletes may not rest the log on their head or use their head in an attempt to press the log. Athletes may not drop the log from the top at any time. Athletes must guide the log down from the top to the crash pads. If it is dropped, they must reclean and press it with a good down command before being allowed to finish and move onto the next implement if there is time permitting. If it is done a second time, it will result in a zero for the event and you will not be permitted to move to the next implement. All 4 reps must be completed on the log before moving onto the next implement. If an athlete is already in motion when time is called, they will be allowed to complete the rep and get a good down command for the rep to count.
From the log, athletes must next deadlift an axle on a 2” deficit for 3 reps. Athletes must be standing fully upright with knees locked out and hips through in order to get the down command. Rep will not count if you have not received the down command. Athletes may not use a touch and go (bouncing) technique to give the weight momentum from the ground to on the 2nd and 3rd reps. Athletes must reset after every rep and after a good down command. Athletes may not drop the weight from the top. If it is dropped, you must complete another deadlift and get good down command before being allowed to move onto the next implement if there is time permitting. If it is done a second time, it will result in a zero for the event and you will not be permitted to move to the next implement. Hitching is allowed. Sumo is not allowed. A conventional stance with hands outside the knees must be maintained at all times. Athlete must complete all 3 reps in order to move on to the next implement. If an athlete is already in motion when time is called, they will be allowed to complete the rep and get a good down command for the rep to count.
From the axle deadlift, athletes will move to the second mat and must next press a CDB for 2 reps. CDB must be fully locked out at the top with the arm holding the CDB fully extended and elbow locked out with no motion. Knees need to be locked out and feet planted on the ground. Athletes body must be stationary and not showing any signs of movement before receiving the down command. Athletes' opposite arm can be anywhere except touching the CDB. Athletes must receive the down command before moving on to the next rep. Athletes do not need to clean each rep. You may use a bent press in order to press the CDB. Athletes may not drop the CDB from the top at any time. Athletes must guide the CDB down to the crash pads. If you drop it from the top, you must reclean and press it with a good down command in order to move onto the next implement if there is time permitting. If it is dropped from overhead a second time, it will result in a zero for the event and you will not be permitted to move to the next implement. Athlete must complete both reps before moving on to the final implement. If an athlete is already in motion when time is called, they will be allowed to complete the rep and get a good down command for the rep to count.
From the CDB, athletes must next deadlift a deadlift bar for 1 rep. Athletes must wait for the down command from the judge in order for the rep to count. You must be standing fully upright with knees locked out, hips through and shoulders back in order to get the down command and for time to stop. Hitching is allowed. Sumo is not allowed. A conventional stance with hands outside the knees must be maintained at all times. You may not drop the weight from the top. If you do, you will be required to redo the rep, get a down command and lower the weight if there is time remaining. If you drop it again, this will result in a zero for the event. If an athlete is in motion when time is called, they will be allowed to complete the rep and get a good down command for the rep to count.
YES: Straps (no hooks), belts (hard, soft or under), chalk, wrist wraps, elbow and knee sleeves, grip shirts (no USS shirts)
NO: Hook type straps, tacky or anything sticky.
It is preferred that you do not jump over the equipment to move to the next implement. It is highly recommended that you walk around as injuries may occur. Split times will not be given. If you do not complete all implements, you will get credit for the reps which the athlete completes. Athletes will be allowed to put any equipment they intend to use next to the implement they wish to use it for (straps, smelling salts, grip shirt etc.).
#2: Pick Your Poison
What athletes will be using:
Cerberus sandbags
Athletes will start off of the mat.
Athletes will have 60 seconds for this event.
On the go command from the judge:
Athletes will choose 1 of 2 sandbags of which to shoulder. Sandbags will be different weights. Lighter sandbag will be worth 1 point with each good rep and heavier sandbag will be with 2 points with each good rep. Once you pick your poison and your hand(s) touch a sandbag, you may not opt for the other sandbag. Athletes must stick with the poison they choose and try not to die. Athletes will shoulder their poison as many times as possible. Athletes must wait for down command from the judge before lowering the sandbag back to the ground. If the athlete does not wait for the down command, the rep will not count. Athletes must have the sandbag on the entire shoulder. Athletes must show control of the bag being on their shoulder by the bag not moving, feet planted on the ground and not moving and the bag not slipping forward or backwards. The athlete's opposite arm may not be touching the sandbag once it is shouldered. Athletes may not use a belt as a shelf to hold the sandbag up. If the athlete is seen using a belt as a shelf to rest the sandbag, the athlete will receive a warning and be told to drop it and start again from the ground. If the athlete does the same thing twice, they will receive a zero for the event. Belts with levers and buckles must face those to the back. If an athlete is in motion when time is called, they will be allowed to complete the rep and get a good down command for the rep to count. If they are in motion when time is called and they almost get it to shoulder but need to relap it, the rep will not count. Please take your time if time has been called to make sure you get that rep!
YES: Belts (soft or under), wrist wraps, elbow and knee sleeves, grip shirts (no USS shirts)
NO: Straps, tacky or anything sticky or any device to assist in lifting the sandbag off the ground other than athletes hands.
#3: The Carry Smorgasbord (LeTia’s favorites):
What athletes will be using:
BeastMetals and Titan Husafells
Harrison Made yoke (230#) and Titan tall yoke (cut down) (175#) Yoke height to be taken on comp day.
Texas Power Concepts 18” pin
Kabuki bumper or iron plates and/or Ghost Strong calibrated plates or chains
Athletes will start behind the Husafell but not touching it.
Athletes will have 90 seconds for this event.
On the go command from the judge:
Athletes will pick up the Husafell from the ground and move it 25’ down a straightaway where they will turn around and return it 25’ back to the start. Judge will let the athlete know when 1 foot is over the 25’ line (foot must actually touch the ground and whole foot must cross the line) and instruct them to turn and go back. Athlete may readjust the Husafell at any point during the 50’ but it cannot touch the ground to readjust/repick. Athlete will be allowed 1 drop of the Husafell. If a second drop happens, the event is over for the athlete and they will get credit for distance. If the athlete completes the 50’, they will place the Husafell on the ground in the upright position before moving onto the yoke. If the athlete drops, dumps or the Husafell falls over once across the 50’ line, the athlete must put it back to the upright position. If the weights come out, the athlete is responsible for putting the Husafell back into the upright position and returning all weights that had fallen out before being allowed to move on.
Athletes will then pick up the yoke and traditionally carry it on their back 25’ down the straightaway where they will either turn around with the yoke OR put it down and get back under it and go 25’ back down to the start. Front of yoke needs to cross the 25’ line before turning around. Athletes will get 1 drop during this 50’. If the athlete drops the yoke a second time before getting the front of it across the 50’ mark, the athlete is done and will get credit for distance. Athletes may place the yoke down once the front of it crosses the line at the 25’ mark and the judge says it is good…this is not considered a drop. Sliding is not allowed. There will be a 5 second penalty for each slide.
Athlete will then pick up the duck walk implement. Athletes will go 25’ with it where they will stop and deadlift the duckwalk implement three times. Implement (pin) needs to be across the 25’ line before starting the deadlifts. Just like a regular deadlift, knees must be locked out, shoulders back and hips through in order to get the down command (what it would look like with the odd way the implement is). Judge will give a down command for the first two reps, once the third reps is done, the athlete will turn around and go back down the straightaway for the last 25’. Once the athlete gets the duckwalk implement over the finish line, they must once again deadlift the duck walk implement three times and set it down for time to stop. Time will stop when the implement is on the ground after the third deadlift.
YES: Belts (hard, soft or under), chalk, wrist wraps, elbow and knee sleeves, grip shirts (no USS shirts) and any type of taping of the forearms as long as the sticky side is not on the top.
NO: Straps, tacky or anything sticky on the hands or forearms.
#4: Gabi Dixson Hercules Hold
What athletes will be using:
Texas Power Concepts Hercules Hold
Country Crush mini raptor handles
Cerberus crash pads
Athletes will be allowed to take hold of the handles before the go command. It is up to the athlete to determine when they feel the pillars are even on both sides as it is not possible to have them held up by any other means except for humans.
Athletes will have unlimited time for this event.
Once the athlete has informed the judge they are set, the judge will give the go command and the humans will let go of both pillars.
Athletes will hold the handles for as long as they can. Arms must be fully extended. Time will end when the athlete lets go of one or both handles OR if the athlete becomes off balance and pulls one of the pillars back towards them or one foot comes off of the ground. Judge will call time if they see any of these things to end the athletes turn.
YES: Belts (hard, soft or under), chalk, wrist wraps, elbow and knee sleeves.
NO: Tacky or anything sticky or straps of any kind.
#5: Bottoms Up
What athletes will be using:
Cerberus axle bar
Kabuki bumper plates
Cerberus collars
Athletes will start off the mat.
Athletes will have 60 seconds for this event.
On the go command from the judge:
Athletes will pick up the axle bar and deadlift/clean it into their lap. Athletes may do this double overhand or mixed grip. Athletes will then put the axle bar into the bend of their arms and stand up with it to a full locked out position (bottoms all the way up). Athletes must have knees locked, shoulders back and hips forward with both feet on the ground in order to get the down command. Athletes will then lower the axle bar back to their lap with elbows touching legs in order to receive an up command. You do not need to set the axle back to the ground or reset the hold on the bar unless needed. Athlete will repeat the lift until time is called. Athletes may opt to get into the Zercher position from the ground with the bar in the bend of their arms and stand upright and not lap the bar at all. Athletes may not use their belt as a way to assist holding the axle bar. If the athlete is seen using a belt as a shelf to rest the axle, athlete will receive a warning and be told to drop it and start again from the ground. If the athlete does the same thing twice, they will receive a zero for the event. If an athlete is in motion when time is called, they will be allowed to complete the rep and get a good down command for the rep to count.
YES: Belts (hard, soft or under), chalk, wrist wraps, taping methods on the forearms as long as the sticky side is not outwards and elbow and knee sleeves.
NO: Straps, tacky or anything sticky or grip shirts.
