Two dominant signal callers in Carson Kirby and Jaden O'Neal are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Bixby Spartans will square off against the Mustang Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bixby will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

Bixby is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Enid 92-0 on Thursday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Spartans with their most commanding win of the season.

Bixby relied on the efforts of Jimmy DeArmon, who rushed for 64 yards and one TD, and Landen Burr, who threw for 72 yards and a pair of touchdowns. DeArmon was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards. Braeden Presley also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Bixby, adding 14 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Presley, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Bixby didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Trey McGlothlin, Presley, Nathan Gonzalez, and Tyler Wright picked up one apiece. McGlothlin got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mustang, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They breezed past Edmond North to the tune of 57-28 on Thursday. The Broncos pushed the score to 47-20 by the end of the third, a deficit the Huskies had little chance of recovering from.

Bixby better keep an eye on Judson Gilliland. He was instrumental in Mustang's win, rushing for 101 yards and three scores on only 14 carries. Ryder Murphy also helped out as he racked up 136 receiving yards.

One reason for the win was Mustang's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Kaden Bachus, Elijah Wilson, and Tucker Harris, who each picked up one sack apiece. Mustang got some further help from Bachus: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made five total tackles.

Bixby's record now sits at 7-0. As for Mustang, their record is now 5-2.

Everything came up roses for Bixby against Mustang in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 64-35 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.ind out.
