Carol of the Kettlebells

Carol of the Kettlebells is a holiday themed competition that will give you a reason to get your winter bulk on!  It will be hosted at CrossFit Acadia in Ellsworth ME.

This is a USS sanctioned competition!

Weigh in must be done by 9 AM at the gym.  I will be around the night before from 6 to 8 if you want to get weighed in then. Rules meeting will start at 9AM and lifting will start at 10.  

Last man standing log press rules.  
Hoist the Yule log high!  Must have a down command for lift to count.  Log can't touch your head.  No tacky, or wrist straps.  Chalk and wrist wraps allowed.  Grip shirts allowed.  Athlete will have 30 seconds to attempt each lift.  All athletes will start at the opening weight.  Men's weights will increase by 20lbs, women's will increase by 10.

Deadlift for reps rules.
Chalk, wrist wraps, straps allowed.  No tacky or any sticky stuff, no baby oil.  Athlete's shins must be covered.  Athlete will be given 90 seconds to complete as many reps as possible.  Athlete must wait for an up and down command from the judge.  If you fail to wait for either command, that rep won't count.

Sled pull rules. 
Think of it as Santa's sleigh and you're the reindeer!  Sled will be attached to a harness and athlete will pull fast as possible.   Distance is 50 feet. You will have 60 seconds to complete the pull.  If you don't get to the finish line in the time allowed, your distance will be measured for your score.

Sandbag shoulder carry rules.
On the go command, athlete will lift the bag to their shoulder and run with it for distance.  Athlete will have 60 seconds to complete the run.  One drop allowed.  No tacky, no grip shirts.

Ketllebell hold for time rules.
Kettle bell will be held out straight in front of athlete with both hands. Athlete's back will be on the wall.  Once the kettlebell is in the starting position, time begins.  If your back or butt comes off the wall, your time ends.  Judge will give one warning if the athlete starts to lower or raise the weight.  Wrist wraps and chalk allowed.  No straps, tacky or other sticky stuff allowed.

Please respect the venue and be respectful to all volunteers and staff present.  If an athlete has a question about or issue with a judge's rulings, talk to Bash.  Do not argue with the judge or you will be disqualified.  

I will open up teen weight classes if there is enough interest!
