Event Descriptions
Log Clean and Press For Reps
Athletes will have 60s to clean and press the log for as many reps as possible. Split times will not be given, only total reps. Athletes must wait for a down command from the judge and drop or return the log to the floor between repetitions. Women’s divisions and Men’s novice lightweight will use 10” log, Heavyweight novice men and open men’s divisions will use 12” log. The log may be dropped on the pads. If the competitor drops the log from overhead and misses the pads the rep will not count and the set will be finished.
Equipment not allowed: Tacky, tacky towels
Yoke + Farmer’s Carry
The athlete will carry the yoke 50’ then pick up the farmer’s bars and carry back 50’ for the fastest time. The athlete may start loaded under the yoke. Yoke heights will be determined before the competition, so be sure to arrive on time. Changes will not be made right before the event. The farmer’s bars are 16” in height for women and novice LW men, and 18” for the remaining classes. The yoke must be carried first, then the farmer’s handles. The front of the implement must cross the line. The implements must be carried; dragging or sliding will result in a 10-second deduction. Distance will be measured for the score if the competitor cannot finish within 60 seconds.
Equipment not allowed: straps or grip aids, neck pads, tacky, tacky towels
Max Mammoth Bar Deadlift
The athlete will get 3 attempts at a max weight deadlift. A miss will end the attempts. Weight must go up each attempt. 2 bars will be used with the women and novice men in one group and the rest of the men’s groups in another. All athletes in the group will take 1 attempt before starting the next round. The order will go by weight, so it may change after each attempt. You must give the judge your opening weights at check-in. 2nd and 3rd attempts will be given after completing the previous attempt. Athletes must wait for a down command from the judge in order to count. Bouncing the bar off the ground after it has already started to travel upwards is not allowed (I’ve seen it!).
Equipment not allowed: deadlift suit, tacky, tacky towel
Keg Toss
The athlete will have 60 seconds to throw 4 kegs over a bar. The athlete will get 3 attempts per keg to get over the bar before the set is called. Women will throw over 10’ and all men’s divisions will throw over 14’. The athlete will start with their hand on the yoke. At the judge’s start command, the athlete will run to the keg and attempt to throw them over the apparatus in order of lightest to heaviest. The keg may hit the bar, but must completely go over to count. Time will be taken for each completed keg when it hits the ground. Some women's divisions will use a 20lb sandbag to start. That weight is marked with an asterisk on the weight chart.
Equipment not allowed: tacky, tacky towel
Atlas stone load over bar for reps
The athlete will have 60s to load the atlas stone over a bar for as many reps as possible. The atlas stone will land on a crash pad and be rolled back to the competitor. Women will load over 44” and men will load over 50”. If a stone breaks, the athlete will have the choice to replace it with a lighter or heavier stone, but points will be adjusted for difficulty (.75 for lighter, 1.25 for heavier). The option for lighter or heavier is only available if the stone that is assigned to the class malfunctions or breaks. Depending on the number of competitors the time could be increased to 75s.
Tacky allowed
Spectator cost: $5 adults, free for children and service members
Contests with prizes for spectators will be held for anyone to attempt.
** This will be an outdoor contest. We will try to have alternate plans for covering some events, but come prepared for any weather. Chairs and some seating will be provided, but it is recommended to bring your own seating.
