Description of Events

The plan is to order the events on the day of the competition as they are ordered here, and we will do our best to avoid having to change that order. That said, we do reserve the right to change the order of events as necessary.

Event 1: Max Log Clean and Press

Wessels rules will apply. Athletes will have 40 seconds per attempt, time will start as soon as the platform is prepared and the judge gives the start command. The athletes are welcome to take as many attempts as they’d like in their 40 seconds. Only 3 attempts will be allowed. If you miss an attempt, you may not attempt a heavier weight.

Men will use a 12” Rogue Log. The implement will start at 135lbs and we will make 10lb jumps.

Women will use a 10” Rogue Log. The implement will start at ~75lbs and we will make 10lb jumps.

The Judges will issue a down command at their discretion upon complete lockout of the implement. If there is no down command from the judge, you will not be awarded the rep. Strict press technique, push press technique, and any form of jerk technique will all be acceptable.

Sleeves and wraps of any kind are acceptable. Chalk only. Grip shirts are allowed. Belts of any kind are acceptable.

Event 2: Atlas Stone to Shoulder Ladder

Athletes will start behind a designated starting line. Upon a prompt from the judge to start their run, the athlete will be free to approach the first stone.

The stones must be lifted in ascending order. The Judge will issue a down command at their discretion, and will be looking for the stone to be securely positioned on the shoulder with the opposite arm off the stone and the body straight.

Volunteers with crash pads will be present to provide a landing spot for the stones. Athletes should make every attempt to drop the stone to the platform.

Split times will be taken. You’ll receive credit for the rep when the judge gives the down command.

No tacky. Chalk, spray tacky, and tacky towels will be acceptable. Sleeves and wraps of any kind are acceptable.Grip shirts are allowed. Belts of any kind are acceptable.

Athletes will have 60 seconds to complete the event.

Please note that all stones will be made specifically for this event so the weights may vary. All stones at the show will be available for sale for $0.65/lb after the competition.

Event 3: Duck Walk to Load Medley

Athletes will start behind a designated starting line. Upon a prompt from the judge to start their run, the athlete will be free to approach the first handle.

The three handles will start behind the line on one end of the course. Each handle will be carried across a 30 foot course and loaded onto an 18” platform on the other side. The handle must be securely loaded on the platform for the rep to count, and for the athlete to be free to move on to the next handle. The judge will notify the athlete if a handle is improperly loaded onto the platform.

Split times will be taken. You’ll receive credit for each handle at the judge’s discretion.

Chalk only. Sleeves and wraps of any kind are acceptable. Grip shirts are allowed. Belts of any kind are acceptable.

Event 4: Death by Frame Deadlift

The athlete will have the opportunity to strap into the implement before the event starts. Athletes will receive both up and down commands for each deadlift. The time will start when the athlete receives their first up command.

Upon completion of each rep, weight will be added to the frame in accordance with the matrix below. The athlete with the heaviest pull will win. In the event that there is a tie at a given weight, the athlete who achieved their pull faster will score higher in the event.

Sleeves, wraps, and straps of any kind are acceptable. Belts of any kind are acceptable. No deadlift suits.

The athlete will have 60 seconds to complete the event.

Event 5: Sandbag Steeplechase

Athletes will start behind a designated starting line. Upon a prompt from the judge to start their run, the athlete will be free to approach the first sandbag.

The three bags will start behind the line on one end of the course. Each sandbag will be carried 20 feet to a bar, and loaded over. The athlete can carry the sandbag in any manner they choose. Inadvertent contact with the bar will be allowable, but should the athlete use the bar to assist them in loading a sandbag, the rep will not count and the athlete will be forced to load it again before proceeding.

The bags must be loaded in ascending order, and all three sandbags must be loaded over the bar before proceeding to the next phase of the event.

Once all three bags have been loaded over the bar, the athletes will then carry each bag another 20 feet to load the bags to a platform. The athlete can carry the sandbags in any manner they choose. Again, inadvertent contact with the platform will be allowable, but should the athlete use the platform to assist them, the rep will not count and the athlete will be forced to load the bag again before proceeding.

The bags must be loaded in ascending order in the second phase of the event as well.

Athletes will be rewarded points for each action taken in the event, with 6 total points available for a completed run. Split times will be used in the event of a tie.

Women will load bags over a 48” bar and to a 44” platform. Men will load bags over a 52” bar and to a 46” platform. Note that these heights are subject to change before the event.

Athletes will have 90 seconds to complete the event.

Tie Breakers

A tiebreaker will only be held to settle ties for 1st and 2nd, and should it become necessary it will be announced on the day of the show.
