Description of Events

The plan is to order the events on the day of the competition as they are ordered here, and we will do our best to avoid having to change that order. That said, we do reserve the right to change the order of events as necessary.

Event 1: Last Man Standing Viking Press

Athletes will face into the handles.

Athletes will have 60 seconds to hit as many reps as possible. After each completed rep, additional weight will be added to the apparatus per the matrix below. The weight on the matrix will be the weight that the athlete feels in hand.

Strict Press and Push Press techniques will be permissible. No double dip of the knees will be allowed, as such no jerk techniques will be allowed.

The exact handle you'll use will be announced closer to the event.

Sleeves and wraps are allowed. Soft Belt and Hard Belt are allowed. Chalk only.

Event 2: Deadlift and Sled Drag Medley

Athletes will start behind a specific starting line.

Athlete will perform the exercises in order:

  • Sled drag 30 ft to the next bar. The full implement will need to cross the line.
  • Axle Bar Wagon Wheel Deadlift.
  • Sled drag 30 ft to the next bar. The full implement will need to cross the line.
  • Power Bar 18” Deadlift.

Split times will be recorded. Times will be taken at the end of the sled drag when the implement crosses the line. The judge will give a verbal command. For the deadlift, the split time will be taken when the judge gives the down command.

Athletes will be given 75 seconds to complete the medley.

Sleeves, wraps, and straps will be allowed. Soft Belt and Hard Belt allowed. No deadlift suits. Chalk allowed. Shoes of some kind will be required for this event.

Event 3: Figure 8 Conan’s Wheel

Athlete’s will start with their hands on the bar of the first Conan’s Wheel. The athlete will carry the wheel 180 degrees, then transition to the second Conan’s Wheel. The athlete will carry that wheel a full revolution, then transition back to the first Conan’s Wheel and carry it back to the start.

The first Conan’s Wheel will be a standard build with the weight affixed. The second Conan’s Wheel will have the weight suspended on chains to create instability. Note that both wheels will weigh the same.

Split times will be taken for the following:

  • The pick of the second wheel.
  • Crossing ½ way on the second wheel.
  • The second pick of the first wheel.
  • Then a final time will be taken for completion of the event.

Athletes will be given 60 seconds to complete the event.

Event 4: Hammer Strike Event (Arm Over Arm Row for Reps)

The athlete will have time to get settled into position and pull slack out of the rope before the time begins. The athlete will have 60 seconds to achieve as many reps as possible. The rep is counted when the athlete pulls the bar to the top of the available range. The athlete will not be responsible for lowering the implement under control.

Your base to pull from will be a large tire.

Note that this event is novel, and as such weights will not be posted until we’ve had time to test the event.

Sleeves, wraps and straps allowed. Soft and Hard belts allowed. No suits. Chalk allowed. Gloves allowed.

Event 5: Atlas Stone Skills Medley

  • On the stone over bar, the split time will be taken when the stone hits the floor on the opposite side of the bar.
  • On the stone to platform, the split time will be taken when the stone is stable on the platform free from the athlete’s hands and the judge acknowledges the rep is completed.
