Down With The Thickness V: Bigger, Thicker, Stronger
$100
Campbell Hall, NY
Welcome to the fifth installment of Down With The Thickness! We are excited for this year's show and have mixed up the events for a unique strongman experience.
Axle Clean and Press: Athletes will have 60 seconds to complete as many reps as possible. Each rep will be fully cleaned from the floor before being pressed overhead. A judge will see that the athlete is fully locked out before giving the "Down" command. The athlete with the most reps in 60 seconds wins the event. Allowed: grip shirts USS approved, belt cleans (within 10 seconds), chalk. Not allowed: tacky (yes, someone will ask)
Deadlift: 60 seconds for as many reps as possible. Up and down commands. Judges will ensure an athlete is fully locked out before issuing a "Down" command and will ensure bar is rested on the ground before issuing an "Up" command. The most reps in 60 seconds wins the events. Allowed: Conventional stance only, straps, hooks (non metal), hitching, ramping. Not allowed: sumo, tacky (yes someone will still ask), bouncing the bar off the ground of any kind.
Stone to Shoulder Carry and Load:
There will be two stones. All Athletes will start the run with the heavier stone. At the designated starting point Athletes will load the stone to their shoulder before walking/running down 30' to a yoke to load the stone over the designated height (48" for women and 52" for men). The athlete will then return to the starting position to do the same with the second stone. Both stones have to hit the ground for the rep to count. The athlete that completes both loads in the shortest time wins the event. Allowed: Grip shirts, chalk. Not allowed: tacky (yes, that same person will ask).
Rope Pulley Bail Load:
Weights will be installed on one end of a Pulley system that is approximately 20' high. On the command of "Go" begin hoisting the weight up with a controlled pull, once the weight hits the top the athlete will receive a "Down" command from their judge. Athletes will lower the weight in a CONTROLLED MANNER. If the athlete let's the weight fall in a uncontrolled manner that repetition will not count. A repetition will only count when the implement touches the ground. The athlete with the most repetitions at the end of 60 seconds wins the event. Allowed: Gloves, chalk. Not allowed: tacky (yes, still).
Motorcycle Drag:
This is essentially a giant, fancy sled drag. Train heavy. The course will be 60' long. The athlete that drags the sled in the shortest amount of time wins. Allowed: chalk. Not allowed: tacky (last time).
