Format:

This event is sanctioned by GSI, and all records/lifts will be tracked in the database, based on the athlete's actual bodyweight, not weight class.

Events will be contested in a last person standing format.

 - Once you miss a lift, you are out.

 - Athletes are limited to four (4) attempts per event.

 - Athletes will have one minute to complete a successful lift.

 - Athletes are not required to attempt every time the weight is increased. You are allowed to skip weights as you wish.

- The event will be scored using reverse strongman scoring.

 - 1st place in an event will receive one point, 2nd place will receive two points, etc., 

 - The athlete with the lowest cumulative score after all events will be declared the winner.

 - Scoring will be tracked within each gender’s weight and age class, as well as overall.

 

Classes: (Subject to Change)

Men’s - 83kg, 105kg, 120kg, 120kg+

Women’s - 63kg, 84kg, 100kg, 100kg+

Master's Age Brackets: 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+

Rules:

20mm Grippers (Cannon Powerworks)

 - Athletes will be allowed four (4) attempts to close the highest rated gripper possible.

  - Each attempt will have a thirty second time limit, beginning once the athlete starts setting the gripper.

  - Athletes are NOT required to take all attempts.

  - You can still use your remaining attempts if you happen to fail an attempt.

 - The provided 20mm setting block must be passed completely between the handles in clear view of a judge before closing the gripper. 

 - The gripper handles must be confirmed by a judge as clearly touching before the gripper is released by the athlete.

  - Each attempt will be filmed by another judge in the event it needs to be reviewed.

 - Only magnesium chalk can be used on the athlete’s hands.

 - The gripper must be closed with spring pointing upwards. Various angles will be allowed, but the gripper cannot be held upside down.

 - The free hand may only be in contact with the gripper during the set. Once the set block is passed through the handles, the free hand may not touch the gripper or any part of the gripping arm.

 - In the event that an athlete has an open cut on their setting hand, they may be able to cover it with up to 2 layers of medical tape/bandage, to keep bleeding and contamination under control.

 - Grippers will be provided.  The set will have grippers from 40 to 240 RGC, increasing in increments of 5 RGC.  These are Standard Grippers provided by Cannon Powerworks.

 - Only grippers provided by the event organizer will be allowed, in order to prevent cheating.

Double Overhand Axle (Ironmind)

 - The axle must be grasped in a double overhand grip, no hook grip is allowed.

 - Only magnesium chalk is allowed on the athlete’s hands.

 - A conventional or sumo stance is permitted. 

 - The axle must be lifted to a full lockout, with the knees locked in a straight position and the shoulders back, and the athlete standing erect. The judge will then signal the athlete to return the bar to the floor with a downward movement of the arm and the audible command "down".

 - It is permissible for the axle to settle as the athlete pulls their shoulders back and relaxes their shrugged shoulders.

 - Supporting the bar on the thighs before the “down" command is not permitted.

 - Stepping backward or forward or moving the feet laterally before the “down" command is not permitted. Rocking the feet between the ball and the heel is permitted.

 - Both hands must be in contact with the axle as it is returned to the platform.

3x4" Saxon Bar (Arm Assassin)

 - The saxon bar must be grasped in a pronated double overhand, pinch grip.  The fingers cannot extend beyond the bottom edge of the bar.

 - Only magnesium chalk is allowed on the athlete’s hands.

 - A conventional or sumo stance is permitted. 

 - The bar must be lifted to a full lockout, with the knees locked in a straight position and the shoulders back, and the athlete standing erect. The judge will then signal the athlete to return the bar to the floor with a downward movement of the arm and the audible command "down".

 - It is permissible for the bar to settle as the athlete pulls their shoulders back and relaxes their shrugged shoulders.

 - Supporting the bar on the thighs before the “down" command is not permitted.

Finnish Ball (Otevoima)

 - Only magnesium chalk is allowed on the athlete’s hands.

 - The implement must be grasped with a “key pinch” grip, meaning the implement is grasped between the thumb and the outside of the index finger.

  - Finger “stacking” is permitted to apply maximum pressure, but only the thumb and index finger are allowed to be in contact the implement.

  - Fingers cannot go under the baseplate or bottom edge of the implement at anytime.

 - The weight must be lifted 13" until the knock bar on the loading pin comes into contact with the crossbar. There is no down command to wait for. 

 - Only one hand is used to lift the weight and it be in contact with the implement as the weight is returned to the platform.

 - Supporting the apparatus on the thighs is not permitted.

 - Swinging the weight is not permitted.

 - Athletes are permitted to stand on boxes or blocks, if needed.
