Events and weights are subject to change
Weight classes are subject to being combined as needed. You will be notified in plenty of time if this is the case. Every decision made on this matter is to create the best possible competition experience for everybody.
Car Deadlift and Fingal's Fingers will be provided by Madewell Strength Equipment. They will also be selling equipment at the competition, including 2 of the Fingal's Fingers and 3 of the Car Deadlift Frames. Please contact Doug Madewell prior to the event if you would like to purchase any equipment on the day of the competition.
We are excited to have the American Mess Hall food truck returning in 2025 as well!
Max Axle Clean and Press: Athletes will have 3 attempts, 60 seconds each attempt, to complete an axle clean and press/jerk/split jerk for a max. If an athlete misses an attempt, they are done. This will be rising bar with 10 pound jumps for women and 20 pound jumps for men. The weight will not go back down! Belt cleans are OKAY. Athletes must wait for the down call from the judge after a successful lift. Dropping the axle from overhead will result in a zero for the event, it must be returned to the crash pads in a controlled manner. The axle may not rest on the athlete's head at any point during the press. In the event of a tied max weight, the athlete who opens with the heavier weight will be awarded the event win. Equipment allowed: Belts (no more than a combination of one soft and one hard), wrist wraps, elbow sleeves, knee sleeves, chalk, grip shirt. Not allowed: Tacky of any kind
Car Deadlift for Reps: Athletes will have 60 seconds to complete as many reps on the car deadlift as possible. Athletes must wait for the down call from the judge after each successful lift, there will be no "up" commands. The handles will be 16" neutral grip handles. No split times. Equipment allowed: Straps, figure 8 straps, belts, suits, briefs, knee sleeves, elbow sleeves, chalk. Not allowed: Deadlift hooks/versa straps, gloves, tacky of any kind.
Keg Medley: Athletes will have a 60 second time limit to carry 3 kegs of ascending weight 50' across a finish line, fastest time wins. All kegs will start at one end. There will be no distances measure, if a keg does not cross the line, the athlete does not get credit for that keg. No split times. Equipment allowed: Belts, elbow sleeves, knee sleeves, gloves, wrist wraps, grip shirt, chalk. Not allowed: Straps of any kind, tacky of any kind.
Fingal's Fingers: Athletes will have a 60 second time limit to complete 5 flips, back and forth, with the Fingal's Finger. If the athlete does not complete 5 reps within the 60 second time limit, the amount of completed reps will be counted as their score. Equipment allowed: Belts, gloves, knee sleeves, elbow sleeves, grip shirt, wrist wraps, chalk. Not allowed: Tacky of any kind
Castle Stones: Athletes will have a 60 second time limit to complete a series of 5 atlas stones for the fastest time possible. If the athlete does not compete all 5 atlas stones within the 60 second time limit, the amount of completed stones will be counted for their score. Each stone will be heavier than the last, while the load height will decrease. Tentative heights for everybody will be 52", 50", 48", 46", and 44", these heights are still subject to be adjusted a bit at this point, we are looking at logical and most importantly SAFE ways to decrease the load heights for women. Equipment allowed: Belts, knee sleeves, elbow sleeves, wrist wraps, chalk, grip shirts, tacky, tacky towel. SOME OF STONES WILL BE MADE SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS COMPETITION, THEREFORE THE WEIGHTS ON THE MATRIX MAY NOT BE 100% EXACT. WE WILL GET THEM AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE, ONCE ALL OF THE STONES ARE MADE YOU WILL BE CONTACTED TO INFORM YOU THAT THE FINAL WEIGHTS ARE "SET IN STONE"
We are hoping to have our testing done in the next couple weeks so that the weight matrix can be fully completed. We are going to put a lot of time and effort into finding the best possible weights for each event. We are going to test cars and see how much weight needs to be added to create the best and most fair competition possible.
We will be releasing any and all information regarding weight matrix, sponsorships, perks, etc. as they unfold in these months leading up to the competition. Follow firelands_strongman_challenge on Instagram for the fastest updates.
The City of Norwalk, as well as downtown businesses, and residents alike, are thrilled that we are coming back for another fun-filled day of Strongman. We are looking forward to seeing you!
