EVENTS:

Natural Stone To Shoulder for Reps.

Dinnie Stones for Distance.

Spear Throw for Distance.

Max Log Press.

Truck (or Boat) pull

Natural Stone to Shoulder

Athlete will have 60 seconds to attempt to shoulder your stone. A successful lift ends with the ref giving a down command. For this show, the stone may be dropped from the shoulder. Athletes who have successfully shouldered the stone once may attempt additional reps to win the event. Athletes may switch shoulders as desired. The point system is as follows: Lapping the stone (Stone to your knees, in the bottom of a squat), 1 point. Standing up with the stone (Legs and hips fully extended, stone in front of your chest), 2 points. Shouldering the stone (stone on one shoulder, supporting arm removed to show control), 4 points. Belts and chalk allowed, no tacky, sticky stuff or gloves.

Spear Throw

Athlete will have 60 seconds to throw three spears. Farthest spear thrown will be your score. Stepping outside the throwing box or past the trig will disqualify that throw.

Truck Pull

Athlete will have 45 seconds to pull a truck over a 100 ft course. The rope will be held over one shoulder, and you will face forward in the direction of movement. No wrapping of the rope around the torso. The ground will be loose soil (eg. grass, loose wood chips, or dirt), I recommend shoes with traction/cleats (not mountain climbers). Belts and gloves allowed.

Dinnie Stone Carry

Athlete will have 45 seconds to cover a max distance with a stone on a ringed handle in each hand. The course will be a straight line, no turns. Go until you drop an implement. The rings are 5" and 7" in diameter, with the bigger handle (generally) on the shorter of the two stones. The athlete may indicate which hand is their strong side, to take the heavier weight. Belts, chalk, shinguards, and hook grip allowed. No tacky, sticky stuff, gloves, or straps.

Log Press

Three attempts, Wessels rules. Athlete will have 3 attempts to set a max log press. Opening attempts will be taken at check in. Athletes can choose when to jump in, and which attempts to take. If you miss a lift and are not on your third attempt, you may use a further attempt at that weight at the end of the flight before weight is added. However, the weight on the log will not be reduced once it has been loaded. Athletes will have 30 seconds to successfully press a log overhead and receive a down command. The log must be pressed overhead, showing control with elbows locked out and feet parallel (not staggered), to receive a down command. Strict press, push press, split jerk, all allowed as long as control is shown before the down command. Drops are NOT allowed, you will return these logs safely to the pads after your attempt. Females will take 5# jumps, males will take 10# jumps. Our logs will be weighed the morning of the comp so you can plan accordingly, but roughly, empty they weigh 80# (ladies) and 170# (gentlemen). Belts, wrist wraps, elbow sleeves, chalk allowed. No tacky or grip shirts.
