Description and Order of Events

Event 1: Max DOH Truck Axle Deadlift

A 2” axle with standard diameter bumper plates will be used.

A rising bar, last-man-standing format will be used. Athletes will have 60 seconds to complete the lift. Time will start as soon as the platform is prepared and the judge gives the start command. The athletes are welcome to take as many attempts as they’d like in their 60 seconds. Athletes may come in at whatever weight they choose and take or pass on the weights offered as they choose. If you fail to lift a weight that you have chosen to take in your 60 seconds, you may not attempt a heavier weight.

Once the bar is loaded and athlete is called to the platform, they may chalk the implement or request that officials wipe the bar down to remove excess chalk. Once satisfied with the condition of the bar the athlete will take a double-over hand grip on the bar and assume a conventional (hands outside the feet) or sumo (hand inside the feet) deadlift position. The judge will give a start command and the athlete may then deadlift the implement to a standing position.

Double-overhand grip is the only allowed grip. No hook grip, mixed grip, no overlapping the two hands, thumbs, or fingers. The weight of the implement must rest in the hands only. Incidental contact of the bar with the thighs is allowed as long as the weight of the implement is not supported by the thighs. No hitching, ramping, or rebending of the knees in such as way that the weight of the implement is supported by the legs is allowed.

Down commands will be given on all deadlifts, once the athlete demonstrates control of the implement in a fully erect position (legs straight, ankles-knees-hips-shoulders stacked vertically).

No straps, suits, or knee wraps will be allowed. Neoprene elbow and knee sleeves up to 7mm thickness and 12 inches length are acceptable. Neoprene briefs up to 5mm thickness are allowed. Athletes may not use any lubricant, sleeve slipper, other assistive device, or assistance from another person to don or doff sleeves or briefs. Solid block or powder chalk (magnesium carbonate) only on the hands. No liquid chalk, tacky, or other adhesive or grip enhancing substance may be used. No baby power or other lubricants are allowed on the athletes, the platform, or anywhere near the implement.

Event 2: Max Log Clean and Press

Men will lift a 12” log. Women and teens will lift an 8” log. Implements will start resting on pads which are approximately 14".

Once the bar is loaded and athlete is called to the platform, the athlete may take their grip and signal ready to the judge. The judge will give a start command and the athlete may then lift the implement from the pads to a locked out overhead position, using a clean and press, viper press, or muscle snatch (one motion) technique.

Time will start as soon as the platform is prepared and the judge gives the start command. Athletes must demonstrate control of the implement at lock out with the implement overhead in a fully erect position (arms straight, ankles-knees-hips-shoulders stacked vertically) before the judge will give a down command. On the down command athletes will return the implement to the pads under control (no dropping).

Straight clean in one motion to the chest or deadlifting and lapping the implement are allowed. Strict press technique, push press technique, viper press technique (pressing in one motion from the lap position), or muscle snatch technique (cleaning and pressing in one motion from the pads) will all be acceptable. Once bar has passed the chest, no double dipping (no jerks), rebending of the knees so as to assist with the lift, or other downward motion of the body to an overhead squat, lunge, or other catch position when pressing/snatching/vipering the implement. For the athlete's safety, athletes may not rest the log on their head or use their head to help press the log.

Wrist wraps not more than 36 inches in length and 3 ½ inches in width are allowed. Solid block or powder chalk (magnesium carbonate) only on the hands. No liquid chalk, tacky, or other adhesive or grip enhancing substance may be used. No grip shirts, bench shirts, knee wraps, or suits are allowed. Belts of any kind are acceptable.

Event 3: Frame Carry

Once the frame is loaded and the athlete called for the event, the athlete may assume a start position with hands gripping the frame handles. The frame must be fully in contact with the ground and bhind the starting line in the start position. On the judge’s start command, athletes will stand and carry the loaded frame 50’ as quickly as possible until the front of the frame crosses the finish line, within a time limit of 60 seconds, with unlimited drops. If the athlete cannot continue or time expires, distance from the starting line to the forward-most edge of the implement will be measured for score.

Event 4: Keg Over Bar for Reps

Kegs will be loaded over a bar. Heights will be ~48” for women and ~52” for men.

Once called the athlete will assume a start position with the keg laid horizontally on the ground and hands on the keg. On the judge’s start command the athlete will have 60 seconds to lift the keg and load it across the bar for as many reps as possible. A rep is considered complete when the keg hits the ground on the other side of the bar. Event staff will then roll the keg under the bar back to the athlete.

After lifting the keg to the bar, keg and athlete may make incidental contact with the bar as it slides or rolls over the bar. Athletes are not allowed to grip or other wise touch the bar in a manner which assists with loading the keg over the bar.

No grip shirts, straps, suits, or knee wraps will be allowed.

Event 5: Arm-Over-Arm Truck Pull

Athletes will pull a vehicle 50 feet. The athlete will start in a seated position with feet braced against a curb or trig, with slight slack in the rope, and two hands on the rope. The vehicle will be fully behind the starting line in the start position. Time will start on the judge’s call. The athlete then pull the truck as quickly as possible by hauling on the rope until the front of the truck crosses the finish line. If the athlete cannot continue or time expires, distance from the starting line to the forward-most edge of the implement will be measured for score.

60-second time limit. Gloves are allowed for this event.

The implement is currently under design. Specific details regarding the vehicle and where the athletes will pull from will be released as the information becomes available.
