*Top 3 at United States Strongman Nationals 2022 qualify for USS Men’s WORLDS. If you have podiumed in a previous USS WORLDS you are automatically qualified.

RULES

GREAT LAKES STRONGEST MAN 

1.) Axle Clean and Press for Reps: Athletes will clean and press every rep. Athletes will have 60 seconds to complete as many reps as possible. Strict press, push press, split jerk, and push jerk all allowed. Elbows must be locked overhead, and head through to receive a down call. DO NOT DROP THE WEIGHT FROM OVERHEAD. YOU WILL RECEIVE A ZERO FOR THIS EVENT. Axle must be lowered controlled to the floor. Equipment allowed: Sleeves, Grip Shirts (No SC/OSG), Wrist Wraps, and Belt. 

2.) Sandbag/Zercher Yoke Carry: Competitor starts with hands off the sandbag. Athletes will have to carry the sandbag 30ft and load over the yoke. The competitor must then front carry the yoke 30ft across the line. 60 second time limit. NOVICE CLASSES ALLOWED MULTIPLE DROPS ON YOKE, OPEN CLASSES ALLOWED ONE DROP. Equipment allowed: Sleeves, Grip Shirts (No SC/OSG), Wrist Wraps, Gloves, and Belt. 

3.) Max 18 Inch Deadlift (National Record Breaker): Deadlift Bar. 60-second time limit per attempt. Three attempts. Wessels Rule applies. No Sumo. Hitching is allowed. 18” measured from the center of the bar to the floor. Hips and knees locked. Must wait for a down command from the judge. Equipment allowed: Lifting straps, Suits, Sleeves, and belt. 

4.) Frame Carry: Competitor will have 60 seconds to carry the frame 30ft. Time stops once frame crosses the line. Equipment allowed: Sleeves, Chalk, Wrist Wraps, and Belt. No lifting straps, gloves, or tacky allowed.

5.) Keg Over Bar for Reps: Competitor starts with hands off the keg. Athletes will have 60 seconds to load the keg over bar. Repeat as many times as possible for 60 seconds. Women’s Classes load over 48” height, Men’s Classes load over 52” height. Equipment allowed: Gloves, Grip Shirts (No SC/OSG), Wrist Wraps, and Belt. 

NO TACKY OR TACKY TOWELS ALLOWED FOR ANY EVENT OF GLSM.

USS MENS WORLDS

1.) Car Squat: Athletes will have 60 seconds to complete as many squats as possible. Equipment testing and height measurements will take place at weigh-ins on 9/16. Athletes will have access to the Car Squat prior to event starting time on 9/17. Athletes will descend down into a squat until frame touches the ground. The athlete will squat back up once the frame touches the ground. Athletes will receive a good lift “Squat” call to continue lifting. Athletes must be in a standing upright position to receive a “Squat” call. Equipment allowed: Chalk, Sleeves, Squat Suits, Wraps, and Belt. 

2.) Press Medley (CDB, Keg, Log): Athletes will have 60 seconds to clean and press the circus dumbbell first, then the keg, and then clean and press each rep on the log for as many reps as possible with the remaining time left. Strict press, push press, split jerk, and push jerk all allowed. Elbows must be locked overhead, and head through to receive a down call. DO NOT DROP THE WEIGHT FROM OVERHEAD. YOU WILL RECEIVE A ZERO FOR THIS EVENT. Implements must be controlled to the floor. Equipment allowed: Chalk, Sleeves, Grip Shirts (No SC/OSG), Wrist Wraps, and Belt. 

  • CDB 165lbs (Press Once)
  • Keg 220lbs (Press Once)
  • Log 265lbs (For Reps)

3.) Husafell Stone Carry (Max Distance): The Husafell Stone will start on top of a box. Athletes will front carry the husafell stone for max distance with a 40ft turn around. Only the athlete’s foot needs to touch the line in order to turn around. No shouldering the stone or using a weight belt as a shelf. Carry stops once the stone is dropped. Equipment allowed: Chalk, Grip Shirts (No SC/OSG), Wrist Wraps, and Belt. NO TACKY. 

  • Husafell Stone 350lbs

4.) Car Deadlift: Athletes will have 60 seconds to complete as many deadlifts as possible. Front handle deadlift. Athlete will receive a “Down” call and a “Lift” for each rep. Equipment allowed: Chalk, Sleeves, Deadlift Suits, Wraps, Wrist Straps (No Hooks) and Belt. 

5.) Atlas Stone Series: Athletes will have 60 seconds load 5 Atlas Stones over a 52” high hitching post. Athletes will start with their hands on the post. Time stops when the last stone is over the post or the athlete is unable to complete the series. Equipment allowed: Chalk, Tacky, Grip Shirts (No SC/OSG), Sleeves, Wrist Wraps, and Belt.

  • 5 Stones (240lbs, 275lbs, 315lbs, 335lbs, 355lbs)

TACKY ONLY ALLOWED FOR USS WORLDS ATLAS STONES SERIES.
