Howl-O-Ween for the Humane Society
$75
Dayton, OH
General Stuff: This is a charity contest. ALL proceeds will be donated to the Humane Society of Madison County. Being Halloween themed, costumes are not only allowed, but highly encouraged. We will have a best costume award.
This is a USS sanctioned competition, USS membership is required of ALL athletes participating. Get your membership here: https://www.unitedstatesstrongman.com/uss-membership
Grip shirts with a Strongman Corporation or Official Strongman Games logo on them are prohibited for ALL events.
Spectators: $5 for anyone 12 or older, under 12 is free.
Weigh-Ins: We'll do weigh-ins the evening before between 5pm and 8pm BY APPOINTMENT ONLY! If you want to weigh-in Friday before, email me at vachioc@gmail.com to set that up. Otherwise, weigh-ins will be from 8am to 9:30am the morning of the competition.
Registration Deadline: Saturday, October 11th (2 weeks out). That gives me enough time to get the shirts ordered.
Offline Payment: If you want to pay me directly to enter, you can do so through Venmo (@Chris-Vachio) or Cash App ($ChrisVachio). Include your email that's attached to your USS membership, your shirt size, and your class.
Extra Shirts: If you would like extra contest shirts, you can pre-order them through Venmo or Cash App (see above). $20 each. I will have some extras at the contest, but probably not a ton of them.
Combining Classes: After the registration deadline passes, I will combine classes as needed. I will NOT combine outside of categories. For example, if we have 2 Women 123s and 2 Women 132s, I will combine them into a single Women's LW class. If there are low numbers in classes that are using the same weights, I may combine them into a single class for awards purposes only. Example: I had only a couple of novice HW men and a couple of masters HW men, so I put them together for awards purposes, but scored them separately for nationals qualification purposes.
Respect^3: As I always say before every contest: Respect the equipment...Respect the venue...Respect the sport. No intentional dropping or abuse of the equipment. You will get a zero for that event and kicked out of the competition completely if it's bad enough. Clean up after yourself and don't leave a mess for other people. Treat the judges, volunteers, and other athletes with courtesy and respect. You don't have to be best buds with everyone, but don't be a dick. If I or any judges/volunteers see any acts of douchebaggery, the offender will be given one chance to apologize and stop acting like a douchebag. Persistent douchebaggery will result in the offender being removed. I'll also let Willie and all my other promoter friends know that said person had to be removed for acting like a douchebag.
Events:
Marley's Log Press: Log press with chains attached (Because the ghost of Jacob Marley dragged around chains. Yeah, I know it was from a Christmas play, but it involved a ghost so just go with it). The chains will be loosely attached to not hinder the clean. 12" log for everyone. Clean once and press away. 60 second time limit. All standard pressing gear is allowed. We plan to run two lanes for this event.
Trap Bar Deadlift: There will be a heavy and a light option. One rep at the heavier weight trumps any number of reps at the lighter weight. The judge will start the time and THEN the athlete will strap in and start lifting (if you're using straps). So if you show up not knowing how to use your straps, sucks to be you. There will be DOWN and UP calls for each rep (No UP call for the first rep, since that's implied by the judge starting time). 60 seconds time limit. Lifting hooks and tacky are the only prohibited items. Any other form of strap, suits, briefs, etc. are allowed. Some part of your palms must be in contact with the bar the whole time.
Bring Out Your Dead Medley: There will be two body bags containing MMA dummies that need to be carried one at a time and placed into a casket roughly 50 feet away. Then the athlete will grab some straps attached to the casket and drag it back to the starting line. 60 second time limit. We'll put extra weight in the bottom of the casket for heavier classes and possibly add weight to the dummies using weight vests, etc.
Let the Bodies Hit the Floor: The athlete will have 60 seconds to put the body bag containing with an MMA dummy over the bar 3 times. Bar height will be ~ 50 inches for everyone. Weight will be added to the dummies as necessary with weight vests, etc. Just pretend it's your mother-in-law and let 'er rip!
Don't Let the Bodies Hit the Floor: Two gallows will be set up with our erstwhile bodies attached by ropes. The athlete will hold a pair of handles to keep the bodies suspended in the air for as long as possible. Basically, a Hercules hold...just way cooler. Best time wins.
Tiebreaker: Any ties for the top 3 spots will be settled by MAS wrestling.
