This is a sanctioned Strongman Corporation contest and as such, you will have the ability to earn a Strongman Corporation Nationals invite if you are in a qualifying class.

All athletes MUST have a valid Strongman Corporation membership that must be proven at weigh-ins to compete.  If you do not have a membership you will not be able to compete at the contest.  This includes the novice class. You will need to show proof of membership at check-in. Memberships may be purchased at this time also, but we highly recommend purchasing ahead of time.

General Rules:

  • If there are not enough 3+ competitors in a weight class, it will be combined with a corresponding weight class.
  • Competition shirts must be worn for every event except log clean and press. If athlete is not wearing their contest shirt they will not be allowed on the floor.
  • Athletes SHALL NOT wear headphones on the contest floor.
  • Grip shirts are ONLY allowed for log clean and press.
  • Athletes will respect the equipment on the floor.  Blatant disrespect or negligence towards the equipment on the floor or in the warm up area will result in disqualification with no refund.
  • Athletes will respect the staff and other competitors.  Violent or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated and may result in disqualification.  We all want to have fun out here, get amped, have a good time, but remember that these are volunteers and human beings.
  • All rule and specifications are subject to change at any time at the event promoter's discretion.
  • In the event of a tie, we will implement a tie breaker event. TBD.

WEIGH INs/CHECK INs

  • Competitors needing to weigh-in early will check-in on Sept 22nd at MPG Gym in from 10am - Noon.  All other athletes must weigh in at the venue Sept 23rd at 8am. ALL COMPETITORS MUST WEIGH IN unless enrolled in the Open class.
  • If you have some special circumstance, please reach out and let us know in advance. Communication is key.
  • Spectators will pay a $10 entry fee, which will be for sale at the door.

NATIONALS QUALIFICATIONS

Strongman Corporation rules: 

  1. If there is only 1 ATHLETE in a class it will be combined with a similar class.  If this is not possible, they will receive a bid to Nationals 2024.
  2. If there are 2-5 ATHLETES in a class:
    1. 1st place qualifies for National's and Regionals 2024
    2. 2nd lace qualifies for Regionals 2024
    3. 3rd place qualifies for Regionals 2024
  3. If there are 6+ ATHLETES in a class:
    1. 1st place qualifies for Nationals and Regionals 2024
    2. 2nd place qualifies for Nationals and Regionals 2024
    3. 3rd place qualifies for Regionals 2024
    4. 4th place qualifies for Regionals 2024

Weight Class Clarifications:

Note that Teen and Masters weight classes are listed as SHW+. This means that there is no divisions of weight class, and all competitors will be competing in the same class. Also note that Novice weight classes do NOT qualify for Regionals or Nationals.

EVENTS & RULES:

Log Clean and Press for Reps:

  • Athletes will have 60 seconds to get as many reps as possible.
  • Athletes must wait for DOWN command from judge.
  • The log must touch the floor between each rep, AKA, CLEAN EVERY REP.
  • Log Diameter = 10" women, 12" men.
  • Athletes must demonstrate control of the log at all times. Lack of control will result in loss of rep.
  • No dropping the log from overhead.
  • Equipment allowed:
    • Strongman Corporation grip shirt, chalk, elbow or knee sleeves, soft and/or hard belts, and wrist wraps
  • Equipment not allowed:
    • Non-Strongman Corporation grip shirts, tacky, briefs

Farmers Walk & Deadlift Medley for time:

  • Athlete will pick up farmers behind line and carry 50’ to the other side.
  • Once the FRONT of the implement crosses the line, athlete will put the implement down and deadlift it 4 times. Time stops with the success of the fourth and final lift, at the top of the rep.
  • Athlete must wait for up and down commands during the deadlifts.
  • Multiple drops allowed during the 50’ walk.
  • 60 second time limit.
  • Equipment allowed:
    • Soft and/or hard belts, elbow or knee sleeves, wrist wraps, chalk
  • Equipment NOT allowed:
    • Wrist straps, grip assists (ex: VersaGripps or figure 8s), or tacky

Zercher Yoke and Sandbag Carry for time:

  • Athlete will carry the yoke Zercher-style 50’ and then return to the start to pick up the sandbag and carry it to the yoke. Athlete will then load the sandbag over the bar.
  • Time ends when the sandbag hits the ground.
  • There is a 60 second time cap to completely finish the event.
  • Once the front of the yoke crosses the line, athlete may set it down.
  • You may NOT shoulder the sandbag to carry it.
  • In the case of an athlete not finishing the event inside of the time cap, distance of the implement will be recorded.
  • Equipment allowed:
    • Soft and/or hard belts, wrist wraps, elbow or knee sleeves, chalk
  • Equipment not allowed:
    • Tacky, deadlift suits, briefs, grip assists (straps, VersaGripps, figure 8s)
       

Last Man Standing Deadlift:

  • Every athlete will have 30 seconds per attempt to complete a rep once given the start command.
  • Strap in, look to judge for a ready signal.
  • Athletes do not have to complete every weight jump - however, miss one weight and you're out.
  • Last Man Standing Style - weight jumps 20lbs for women, 40lbs for men.
  • Last successful attempt will count towards the score.
  • Athletes must have knees, hips, and shoulders locked out before the head judge will give them the down command.
  • The athlete MUST wait for the down command or a no rep will be given.
  • The athlete MUST follow the bar back down to the ground or a no rep will be given (i.e. avoid dropping the bar from the locked out position)
  • Sumo position NOT allowed, feet must be in conventional position and hands must be outside of the knees
  • Equipment allowed:
    • Soft and/or hard belts, chalk, elbow or knee sleeves, wrist wraps, grip assists (straps, VersaGripps, figure 8s)
  • Equipment NOT allowed:
    • Deadlift suits, briefs, and tacky

 

Thor Hammer Hold for time:

  • There will be a vertical surface that the competitor must place their glutes and shoulders on, and maintain contact with for the duration of the hold.
  • This is a timed event for longest hold.
  • Handlers will place weight in competitors hands and hold it until the GO command is given by the judge.
  • Competitor must have arms straight, elbows mostly locked, and a 90 degree angle in the armpit from the arm to the body.
  • Time stops once competitor drops the hammer below the 90 degree angle according to the judge’s discretion.
  • Equipment allowed:
    • Chalk, soft and/or hard belts, and wrist wraps
  • Equipment NOT allowed:
    • Elbow and knee sleeves, tacky, deadlift suits, briefs, grips assists (straps, VersaGripps, figure 8s), and grip shirts
