Events and Rules:
Log for max:
Athletes will get four attempts and you with Wessels rules, meaning, if you fail to get a rep in 60 seconds, you're out.
Log will be a rising bar, auction style. Men will use a 12" metal log from Texas Power Concepts and the women will us a 10" log from TPC. All the women will go first, then all the men.
Elbows must be fully locked out, feet in line, and showing control. Athlete must wait for a down command from the judge. No pressing off the head. 60 second time limit. You WILL NOT receive a rep if you drop the log before the down signal or if you don't control the log on the way down. Aggressive drops are ok, but if you just let go of the log, you're done.
Allowed : Belt, wrist wraps, elbow sleeves, knee sleeves, grip shirts.
Not Allowed: Tree-topping, head pressing
Sandbag, Yoke
Athlete will start with hands OFF the sandbag and when after the whistle, will carry the bag 50 feet and over the bar. Then carry the yoke back 50ft. Unlimited drops allowed, but a five second time penalty will be incurred for sliding the yoke (judges discretion).
Circus Dumbbell for reps
Most Reps wins. Athlete will start standing over but with hands off the DB. The athlete can use both hands for the clean. Clean once and press away. Once on the shoulder, the athlete must show one-handed control of the DB before initiating the press. The initial drop for the push press or push jerk cannot be done with both hands on the DB. A “Down” command will be given at lockout and control. The athlete must control the DB onto the crash pad provided. If the other hand touches the DB at any point in the press portion of the lift, the rep will not count. The athlete can alternate between hands or use the same hand for all the reps. EVERY REP MUST BE CLEANED!
Allowed :Chalk, Sleeves, Belt, Wraps, Push Jerks or Push Press
Not Allowed: Suit, Straps, Tacky, Tree-topping.
Last man standing farmers:
Most weight wins. The distance will be 25’. The weight will only increase. Feel free to jump in wherever comfortable or to skip whatever weight. But once the weight moves up, it will not go back down. No time limit to carry the frame the full 25’. No drops allowed. No re-do's. If you fail an attempt, you're out!
Stone to shoulder medley
60 sec time limit.
Stone must be cleaned to the shoulder with opposite arm has to be extended for the rep to count. Athletes must maintain control of the atlas stone at the top to receive a down command.
Allowed :Wrist/Knee wraps, belts, chalk, grip shirts. Stone sleeves, tacky.
Tacky rules: tacky must be applied outside. Don't enter gym once tacky is applied until it's your turn. As soon as you are done, immediately walk outside and remove tacky. Oil and towels will be provided.
Two more rules. NO F*%#ing whining!! This is strongman. Everyone uses the same equipment and the same rules. Respect the judges, your fellow athletes and most of all, the sport.
Lastly and most importantly: HAVE FUN! This is the most fun of all the strength sports. Get excited, be a showman, cheer for your fellow athletes!
Novice rules:
I am giving novice athletes three weight options for three of the events. The rules are simple: weight trumps reps or speed. With yoke, you beat everyone who went lighter than, regardless of speed, as long as you get the yoke halfway down, and the weights are a package deal.
Circus dumbbell: weight trumps reps.
Atlas stones: weight trumps reps.
Choose wisely!
