Melee in McGregor USS Strongman Competition

All weights may be subject to slight change. Each weight class must have at least 3 or more competitors the day of competition or they will be combined.

The competition is located at a dealership during business hours. The contest will be held in the back left corner of the lot. Please follow signs for parking and be aware of customers in parking lot. Feel free to bring chairs and personal tents to create your own area. The event will be outside. Port-a-potties and changing areas will be provided. Either a food truck or a concession will be available for water and snacks but bring your own as well.

Events and Rules:

It is my intent to run 2 events or 2 lanes at once. Since the deadlift is a record event, it will be first by itself.

 Rain or Shine!! If it rains, adjustments will be made to the events for the safety of the competitors.

4. MAS wrestling will be a stand one event at the end. However, there will be at least 2 platforms competing at the same time.

1. No tacky/ tacky towel or spray tacky
2. No Bare feet (shoes must be worn at all times)
3. No build up belts (Only 1 hard and 1 soft allowed)

1st Event – 18" Standard bar Deadlift - Texas Record Setter - Wessels Rules

1. 60 sec time limit for each attempt
2. pick your attempts andd the bar will be progressively loaded
3. 3 attempts only and 1 miss and out
4. stand up straight, knees locked, hips through
5. ramping, hitching, up and down movement allowed
6. Athlete must wait for the down command

Items allowed: wrist wraps, elbow sleeves, chalk, belts, suits, briefs 

Not allowed: elbow wraps, tacky of any kind, gloves, chest strap, baby powder, or sumo 

2nd Event - Harnessed Truck Pull

1. Athletes will start strapped to the truck, hands on a rope, and slack removed before start is given
2. 50 ft distant with 60 second time limit
3. Time stops once the competitor’s chest crosses the finish line
4. Scored by fastest time or distant if not able to complete
5. In the event of rain, the event will change to seated hand over hand

Items allowed: gloves, wrist wraps, knee sleeves, elbow sleeves, 1 soft belt, and or 1 hard belt, shoes must be worn at all times 

Items not allowed: tacky of any kind 

3rd Event – Viking Press

1. Athlete will face forward with the apparatus behind them and start with hands on the implement
2. Athlete will extend overhead until “down” is given each rep
3. 60 secs as many reps as possible
4. Can lower apparatus and step away to rest
5. Any movement is allowed but feet must be side by side when at full extension for rep to count
6. The weights have been raised due to the smoothness of the apparatus... train at 50% of weight listed

Not allowed: elbow or knee wraps, tacky of any kind, gloves, 

4th Event – Tire Flip

1. Athlete will start facing the tire
2. Tire will start behind the start line
3. 30 ft for time; 60 sec limit; distance will be measured
4. Any part of the tire must cross finish line
5. If it rains we will still do it unless its pouring down

5th Event – MAS Wrestling

General rules for MAS Wrestling will be enforced

DO NOT NEED Colored shorts 

1. Athletes will be randomly assigned a person in their weight class
2. Best 2 out of 3 matches = 1 Round 
3. Single elimination – you lose a round and you are out 
4. Athlete will continue to compete until last man / woman standing in their weight class. 
5. Each match won is a point (ie rep) for scoring purposes on iron podium 
6. Most reps win
7. In the event of a tie a single match will be completed to break the tie 
8. There may be the need to combine weight classes in which scoring will be fairly handled and discussed with athletes before the event.

Not allowed: elbow or knee wraps, tacky of any kind, gloves
