Jurassic Showdown
$120
Portland, OR
This is a sanctioned Strongman Corporation contest and as such, you will have the ability to earn a Strongman Corporation Nationals and/or a regionals invitation if you are in a qualifying class. We plan to bring a regionals level Strongman Corporation event to Oregon in 2024 so it is important that you get your regionals invitation. You can not compete at regionals without one. This is the first step to getting your invitation to compete at the Arnolds! Don’t miss your chance to get on the big stage.
****This is a qualifier****
If there are 2-5 athletes in a class:
1st place - Nationals (2024) and Regionals (2024) invites
2nd - Regionals (2024)
3rd - Regionals (2024)
If there are 6+ athletes in a class:
1st - Nationals (2024) and Regionals (2024)
2nd - Nationals (2024) and Regionals (2024)
3rd - Regionals (2024)
4th - Regionals (2024)
All athletes must have a valid Strongman Corporation membership to compete. At weigh ins, you will be required to log into your strongman corporation account and show that you have an active/valid membership. If you do not have a membership, you will not be able to compete. A Strongman Corporation membership can be bought on the day of weigh ins. If you do not currently have a Strongman Corporation membership and have no plans to compete in a Strongman Corporation event before this competition, I recommend waiting until the day of weigh ins to purchase it. Unlike USS, Strongman Corporation memberships are good for a full year from the day that you purchase the membership.

Events and Rules:
Axle Clean and Press Away – Head to Head – MBPC Axles
Athletes will have 60 seconds to clean the axle bar up to rack position, then press away for reps in a 60 second time limit. You do not have to clean each rep, but the rep must come down to your chest each time. You can split jerk, push jerk, or push press as long as your feet are together and your head is through when the weight is locked out.
Athletes will be given a down command for each rep. Do not jump the down command, or you will be given a no rep. You may re-clean it if you drop the weight and attempt again as long as it is within the 60 seconds. Belt cleans are allowed.
Wrist wraps, sleeves, grip shirts, belts and chalk are allowed. Tacky/tack cloth is not allowed.
Adaptive class - Sub seated axle bar shoulder press for reps
Max Mammoth Bar Deadlift – Rising Bar – Arsenal Athletics Mammoth Bar
On the start command, the athlete will have 60 seconds to complete their rep. Down command will be given by the judge once they see that you are completely locked out and in control. We are looking for solid lockouts. Down command will not be given if your knees and hips are soft or if you aren’t able to stand fully erect with the shoulders back. Dropping the bar from lockout will result in a failed lift. Do not drop the bar, do your best to control it back down to the floor. Hitching is allowed. You have the full minute to attempt the weight. If you fail during the 60 seconds, you may re-attempt the weight within the time limit.
Wessels rules will be used. What this means is that you will get three attempts to pull a max deadlift. If you miss an attempt, you are out so make sure you choose your weight selection wisely. Athletes can jump in at any time. The weights will only go up so make sure you don’t wait too long.
There will be two different bars set up. The first bar will start at 152lbs. The bar will rise in 20/30/20/20lb increments. This bar will max out at 400lbs. Do not start on this bar if you plan on pulling over 400lbs. The second bar will start at 422lb and rise is in 50/40lb increments. Remember the weight only rises!
Suits, straps, briefs, sleeves, wrist wraps, and belts are allowed. Tacky/tack cloth is not allowed.
Adaptive class - Sub seated max deadlift. Same rules apply.
Sandbag to Shoulder for Reps – Head to Head – Cerberus Sandbags
Athletes will have a 60 second time limit to complete as many reps as possible. Athletes will take their positions (hands off) and look to their judge for a ready signal. Athletes will have to clean and shoulder a singular bag for reps. Down commands will be granted when the athlete maintains control and the opposite arm is extended with hips and knees locked out.
Grip shirts Chalk, Sleeves/Wraps, Belts, Gloves are allowed. Tacky/tack cloth is not allowed.
Adaptive class - Sub seated sandbag loads side to side for reps.
Duck Walk Max Distance – Head to Head – Williams Strength Implements
Athletes will have 60 seconds to pick up and walk the implement as far as possible. The implement can be dropped and repicked once outside of the safe zone. If the implement is dropped a second time, the run is over. Lanes will be set to 40 feet long. Athletes can drop in the safe zone to turn around without penalty.
Chalk, belts, sleeves and wrist wraps are allowed. Tacky/tack cloth and straps are not allowed.
Adaptive class - Sub seated trap bar with fat handles hold for time.
Max Keg Load – Rising Keg – MBPC and Iron Moose Kegs

If you miss the attempt, you are out. Weights can be skipped but you must stay in line and let the judge know you are skipping. Once you have notified the judge that you want to skip, go back to the end of the line. Athletes can start at whatever weight they choose and will have unlimited attempts to find a max. Make your selections carefully though because once you miss, you are out.
