Kansas Log Lift Championship & Strongman Competition

Come and put on a show at the Kansas Log Lift Championship & Strongman Competition.  The Event will be held in conjunction with the American Legion Post 174 Legionfest.  The Max Log event will be a State Record.  The largest Log press overall in both the men’s and women’s divisions will receive an Championship Belt.  

Must be registered by 4/12 to be guaranteed a shirt

Competition Starts 9:30am

Food Vendors will be on site.  

Strongman Corporation Membership is required for all competitors - https://strongmancorporation.com/licensing-memberships-copy/

  • Open & Masters Competitors - $77 membership (Renewal) $87.50 membership (First time member) - valid for one year from date of purchase (Membership includes: $10,000 Injury coverage with a $3500 deductible, covering injuries sustained at licensed Strongman Corporation events)
  • Teen Competitors - $47 membership - valid for one year from date of purchase

If there is 1 athlete in a class, they will get combined with another class or just get a regionals bid (we will leave that up to the promoter).

If there are 2-5 athletes in a class:

  • 1st place - Qualifies for Nationals and Regionals
  • 2nd - Qualifies for Regionals
  • 3rd - Qualifies for Regionals

If there are 6+ athletes in a class:

  • 1st - qualifies for Nationals and Regionals
  • 2nd - qualifies for Nationals and Regionals
  • 3rd - qualifies for Regionals
  • 4th - qualifies for Regionals

Masters Class

  • 1st - qualifies for Nationals
  • 2nd - qualifies for Nationals
  • 3rd - qualifies for Nationals

 

Rules:

Event 1 Max Log (State Record up for grabs) 

Athlete will be given 60 seconds to get clean and press the log. Log must be fully locked out at the top and athlete must wait for a down command before being brought back down. Athlete may viper press, split jerk, push jerk, or push press the weight. Athlete may start with hands on log. Down command will be given at full lockout. Wessels rules in place (3 attempts if you miss one you're out)

Dropping weight from overhead/chest level is NOT PERMITTED. Log must be brought down under control. Deliberately dropping the log from overhead, will result in a ZERO for the event.

Men will use a standard 12-inch log and women will use a 10-inch log. 

Good Lift: having the implement locked out, under control overhead with arms straight, head through, legs and feet parallel and stationary.

Allowed: Knee sleeves, elbow sleeves, grip shirt, chalk, 1 soft belt, 1 hard belt, warm shorts, grip shorts Not allowed: tacky

 

Event 2 18" Axle Deadlift for reps

Athlete may start strapped in to the bar.  Judges will be giving a Down command. Touch-and-go reps will be permitted Athlete will be given a down command once a good rep is completed. Judges are looking for shoulders back, hips through, and knees locked. If the bar is dropped before the down command, no rep will be given. No finger-tipping the bar while using straps. Deliberately dropping the barbell from the top will result in a ZERO for the event. Please respect the equipment. 

Allowed:  1 soft belt and 1 hard belt, knee sleeves, elbow sleeves, figure-8 straps, standard straps, deadlift suits, briefs

 

Event 3 Yoke/Farmers Medley

This two-implement carry medley will be 40 foot lengths with a 60 second time limit. Athletes will begin with both hands on the Yoke. Following the commands “Athlete ready? Go!”, the event will begin. The front of the yoke must cross the line to move to the farmers handles and then the entire farmers handles must cross the finish line. Once the Farmer handles completely cross the line your time to completion will be recorded. The weights for the farmer handles below indicates the weight per hand. Unlimited drops. If you don't finish a measurement will be taken.

Allowed: Knee & Elbow Sleeves, 1 soft belt, 1 hard belt, grip shirt. Not Allowed: tacky, gloves, deadlift suits, deadlift briefs

 

Event 4 Front Hold

This event is for max time. Athlete will begin with arms extended and calibrated weight plate in hands. Arms can have a slight bend but if the bend increases time will stop. Athlete's back and hips must be against the wall, if either leaves the wall, time will stop. If Athlete's arms lower below the designated point, time will stop. 

Allowed: Wraps, belts, chalk allowed Not allowed: gloves, tacky

 

Event 5 Sandbag toss Medley

60-second time limit to get all bags over the bar.  The athlete may use one or two hands to toss the sandbags.  Crossbar Height: 12' for women and 15' for men.  Athletes must start with the lightest sandbag and work their way up to the heaviest bag.  Athlete will start at crossbar and run to bags on go command by judge.  If the bag gets stuck on top of the apparatus, that counts as a successful throw.

Allowed: Belt, Chalk, knee wraps or sleeves, wrist wraps. Elbow sleeves.  Equipment NOT Allowed: Tacky
