(This is NOT a team event)
  2. The Lavera Award - Named in honor of a very, very special lady to VPT and a huge strongwoman supporter, Lavera Ervin, The Lavera Award is awarded at the end of the show after a vote by competitors of THE MOST supportive strongwoman competing at the show :)   This award - rocks!

Events:

Max Atlas Stone to Platform

  • Three attempts to make the biggest lift possible!
  • 30 seconds to get the stone onto a 48in platform and settled into the "stone hole". Stone's position will be preset, but you may reposition it before starting if you wish. Athlete starts with wrists on the platform.
  • Each athlete may lift or pass on any given weight. Once you miss a weight, you are “out” and will be credited with your highest successful attempt. The athlete is responsible for maintaining his/her position in the rotation; failure to do so may result in disqualification from the event.
  • In the event of a tie, the athlete that took fewer attempts to reach the weight will be credited with the higher placing. If that doesn't work, we go to higher opener. If that doesn't work, we got to higher second attempt. If that doesn't work... well then you just tie and split points!
  • Elbow sleeves & knee sleeves (buckling mechanisms and straps must not be tightened), belt, and wrist wraps are legal. Belt buckle to back/side.
  • Equipment not allowed: grip shirts, anything sticky, no more than one soft belt and one hard belt. This is a NO TACKY EVENT!
  • Tape on the forearms is allowed as long as the sticky side is down. Can also use chalk, liquid chalk, and forearm sleeves if you so choose.

Yoke - Keg - Husafell Carry Medley

  • 60 second time limit
  • 30' Courses, each implement will start at the end of the previous implement's course.
  • The Yoke's FRONT feet must cross the line before being set down.
  • The Keg must completely cross it's line and be placed upright on a pad.
  • Husafell must completely cross it's line, at which point time will end.
  • No drops allowed! If an implement is dropped, your run is over and total distance will be taken to determine placings among competitors who do not finish.
  • Equipment not allowed: grip shirts, anything sticky, no more than one soft belt and one hard belt
  • Tape on the forearms is allowed as long as the sticky side is down. Can also use chalk, liquid chalk, and forearm sleeves if you so choose.

Fingal Finger for Reps

  • 60 second time limit
  • The Fingal Finger must be lifted from ground (on a tire) to overhead. Competitor must then walk underneath the Finger (a volunteer will remove the tire as soon as the Finger is under control overhead), moving their hands underneath to keep pressing it until they have walked it far enough underneath to push the finger to the other side. Then run to the other side and repeat the process - maximum reps wins!
  • The Finger must be falling to its intended side for the rep to count.
  • If an athlete drops the finger onto the ground (which we're really going to try to not let happen, moving tires in and out) then the athlete must clean it from that position.
  • Athletes will start with their hands off the implement.
  • Split times on each flip (taken when the post hits the tire/ground on the other side). Most reps wins, with faster times beating for tiebreakers.
  • Equipment not allowed:
Grip Shirts, belts with buckles in front (buckles must be worn towards back), gloves, straps, or anything sticky

Car/Truck Harness Pull

  • 60 second time limit to cover the course
  • A classic event returns to Maidens! Competitors will be strapped into a harness (provided by VPT, all competitors will use the same harness), which is of course attached to a nice, heavy vehicle. Then competitors will be given a good thick rope with a tight, no slack position.
  • Once given the "Start!" command, competitor will pull the rope and drive their legs to get the vehicle moving, and keep going as fast as they can until the front tire (the measuring point) has reached the finish line.
  • Distance will be updated once we measure the rope!
  • If it is raining or snowing we will do our best to do something equally as cool ;)
  • Reminder - everyone will use the same harness. Competitors are allowed to release the rope AT YOUR DISCRETION, but pleaasseeee be sure it's a good idea before you do it!
  • Fastest time wins.

Make Gravity Your B*tch Push Pull Medley (13" Barbell Deadlift + Circus DB Clean & Press - For Reps / Light & Heavy Options)

  • 60 second time limit
  • Competitors will alternate between doing a repetition of a 13" Barbell Deadlift and a Circus DB Clean & Press (athlete chooses which one to start with).
  • You will have 2 choices of weight at each implement (Heavy and Light). Wherever you start you CAN go lighter during your time, but CAN NOT go heavier! You may choose Heavy and Light on one implement and the opposite on the other (Heavy/Heavy, Light/Light, or Heavy/Light).
  • Complete the most total reps you can - any reps on a heavier implement will beat reps on lighter implements.
  • Deadlift will follow common Deadlift Rules - lift from ground to full lockout with strong, extended hips and shoulders neutral or pulled back (not rolled forward or in a standing hunch). Wait for the down command from the judge, then SET THE BARBELL down (hands remain on the bar). Dropping will make the rep a NO REP! We will be using a Texas Deadlift Bar.
  • Circus DB Clean & Press is from ground to overhead. Two hands may be used to get the DB in pressing position at the shoulder, but only one hand must be involved in the press and lockout. Any touch from your second hand (or head) during the press will make it a no rep. To receive the "Down" command every press must have elbow locked out and feet in a "square" stance You may use any technique to press the DB, such as a split jerk, Side Press, Push Press, Strict Press, etc, but if you do feet must come back together to a square stance and you must be standing upright during lockout before the down command.
  • There will be a crash pad to set/drop the Dumbbell on.
  • Equipment not allowed: grip shirts, anything sticky, elbow sleeves with buckles or straps, ply sleeves.
