-EVENTS-
KEEP IN MIND - EVENT WEIGHTS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE DEPENDING ON WHAT EQUIPMENT IS AVAILABLE - I WILL BE WORKING WITH A CONTRACTOR TO BUILD THE WOODEN LOGS AND THE WOODEN FARMERS WALK, SO PLEASE STAY UPDATED AND FLEXIBLE WITH THE IMPLEMENT WEIGHTS
1. Wooden Log Press
Equipment: 2 Belts Max, Elbow Sleeves, Wrist Wraps, Knee Sleeves, Shoes
Competitors will have 60 seconds to clean and press a wooden log for as many reps as possible. When the whistle is sounded to start, competitors will clean and press the wooden log overhead until feet are parallel and elbows are locked out. When feet are parallel and elbows are locked out - AND - the competitor demonstrates control of the log in the locked out position, the judge will give an audible "DOWN" command. When given the down command, the competitor will control the log down to the drop pads and begin a new clean and press. The lift will continue in this order until 60 seconds has expired.
2. Load the Longship
Equipment: Soft Belt, Elbow Sleeves, Gloves, Knee Sleeves, Shoes
Rules: Competitors may stand with hands placed on top of the longship. The longship will be a 4 foot by 6 foot wooden sled with a rope attached to the front. When the whistle blows, the competitor will run down to the 30 foot line and load each implement in weighted order to the longship. When all three implements are loaded, the competitor will run back to the starting line and pull the rope until the front of the longship reaches the start/finish line. Total time to beat - 90 seconds. Competitors will be credited for time finished.
3. Natural Stone to Shoulder
Equipment: 2 Belts Max, Elbow Sleeves, Wrist Wraps, Knee Sleeves, Shoes - NO TACKY or BABY POWDER
Rules: Competitors will have 60 seconds to clean and shoulder a natural stone for as many reps as possible. When the whistle is sounded to start, competitors will clean and shoulder their stone until feet are parallel and elbows are locked out. When feet are parallel and elbows are locked out - AND - the competitor demonstrates control of the stone in the shouldered position, the judge will give an audible "DOWN" command. When given the down command, the competitor will control the stone down to the drop pads and begin a new clean and shoulder The lift will continue in this order until 60 seconds has expired.
4. Wooden Farmers Walk
Equipment: 2 Belts Max, Elbow Sleeves, Wrist Wraps, Knee Sleeves, Shoes - NO TACKY or BABY POWDER
Rules: Competitors may "take your grip" on the farmer's walk handles to start the event. When given the whistle to begin, competitors will pick and walk down to a 30 foot line. The front of the farmer's walk MUST cross the line, before the competitor can set the handles down and turn around. Competitors MAY NOT SLIDE the implements across the line. In fact, it should be impossible to slide the implement across the line in the grass. If you try to slide, you'll likely get stuck and fall down and then I will laugh at you!Ok, back to the rules. Once the competitor crosses the line, turn your body and walk back toward the start line. Time stops when the front of the implement crosses the line and is set down. Again, you'll be wise not to try and slide in the grass.
5. Mjollnir Throw for Distance:
Thor was the most popular of all the gods. He was a god of war and fertility. He created thunder and lightning as he rode over the clouds in a chariot drawn by goats, swinging his hammer Mjöllnir. Thor was physically strong and with his weapon Mjöllnir could do battle with the evil giants who lived in Jötunheimar. This event celebrates Thor’s power in wielding the Mjollnir.
Equipment: 2 Belt Max, Elbow Sleeves, Knee Sleeves, Neoprene Shorts, Shoes
Competitors will be able to set up inside of a throwing box for this event. Competitors will begin with hands on the Mjollnir. When given the whistle to begin, competitors will have 60 seconds to throw the Mjollnir as far as they can. Competitors may throw from the hips, throw from the chest, or any forward facing throw. Competitors MUST throw from the handle and MAY NOT spin or throw from facing backwards. Three attempts will be given and your score will count as the furthest distance thrown of your three attempts. For each throw, you - the competitor will walk out and retrieve your hammer for your second and third attempt.
General Rules
Competitors will conduct themselves in a safe, respectful and responsible manner. Competitors will respect the judges and volunteers for all of their hard work. Any behavior that is deemed inappropriate by the show host will result in one warning and after one warning, the competitor will be asked to leave the arena. Inappropriate actions include, but not limited to - intentional drops, hitting striking or misuse of equipment (don't’ throw a temper tantrum) yelling obscenities (this is a family fair). Please remember to thank your judges and volunteers. If you can be safe, respectful and responsible - you can stay in the show - if not - you gotta go!
