Novice Knockout 2023

This is an unsanctioned NOVICE ONLY EVENT!!

Every Saturday up until the competition we will hold a Strongman class on location to teach/practice all of the events. Everyone’s first class is FREE! Please reach out for details.

If you are interested in trying strongman or have been training for a while but comp weights are always just too heavy, this event is for you! The purpose of this competition is to give everyone a chance to lift awesome things and have a great time. The listed weights should ensure no competitors zero an event.   

Podium finishers will receive a medal. 

The Events:

Press Medley: (Reps in 60 sec) Implements TBD but most likely will be Log/Axle/Sandbag or Keg. Get one rep on the first two implements and rep out the last.  Down command only.

Grip shirts and chalk allowed. No tack of any kind. 

Lever Deadlift: A long piece of wood will be attached on a lever with 8 handle attachments. Weight gets heavier in hand as you move down the lever. Athlete will begin with handle attached on first notch, wait for the up command from your judge, lift, and wait for the down command. Athlete will then unhook the handle and attach to the next notch; again, wait for the up command before you lift. You will have 60 seconds to complete all 8 reps. This event will not have a time tiebreaker. If everyone gets 8 reps you will all split points. This is to account for any variation in judges up commands.

Any sort of belt allowed. No tack of any kind. 

Sled Pull: (Distance + Time) Athlete will be seated in a tire with rope attached to sled in hand. Once time begins you will have 45 sec to pull the sled over the finish line. Athlete must remain in a seated position in the tire. Cannot stand and throw yourself back. If the sled does not cross the finish line distance will be counted.

Gloves and belts allowed. No tack of any kind. 

Farmers Carry: (Distance + Time) Front loaded farmers. Athlete will begin in starting position and have 60 sec to carry implement down and back a 30m track. Unlimited drops. Fastest time wins. Distance will be counted if case of DNF.

Chalk, belts, wraps allowed. No tack of any kind. 

Yoke Run Into Sandbag Over Bar: 90sec (Trump Rules) Yoke heights will be taken upon check-in. Keep in mind when choosing your height you will not only be carrying the yoke but loading over it as well. Coaches will help you in case you are unsure. Athlete will begin under yoke run 30m down and back, sprint down the other end of the track and chose one of two sandbags (one lighter and one heavier). Run back with chosen sandbag and put over bar as many times as you can with remaining time.   TRUMP RULES!! If Athlete #1 chooses the lighter sandbag and gets 30 reps and Athlete #2 gets 1 rep with the heavier bag, Athlete #2 will place higher.
