Let’s max out!

Do you like cranking out countless reps until numbers no longer have any meaning to you? Me either! That's why we have... Overheads & Deads! Max log, Max 18” deadlift, Max time Jeep hold… 3 events to test out your maximum capabilities. It’s kinda like a strongman version of powerlifting… but you don’t have to wear a singlet!

Event 1: The Overheads

This will be an overhead log clean and press for max weight.  Weight will start at 75 pounds on a 10 inch steel log and competitors will choose weight auction style. Yell out if you want a lift at the weight called, three attempts for max weight.  Wessels rule applies.  (You miss a lift, you're done). All weights 190 and above will be on the 12 inch diameter log.

Chalk and grip shirts are allowed.

Event 2: The Deads

We will continue on with a deadlift-the best kind of deadlift- 18 inch deadlift from blocks. Just as in the first event, athletes will choose weights rising bar auction style, with 3 attempts.  (Wessels rule applies here as well).  Sorry,  no Sumo stance for this one.

Straps (regular or figure 8), chalk, belts, will be allowed.

Not allowed: deadlift suits, squat suits, hooks, hydraulic and pneumatic lifts, bears disguised as humans who have been trained in Strongman lifts

Event 3: The Jeep Hold

Finish off the day by testing your grip strength with the third event, a timed hold. This is a side handle lift. Time starts when you pick it up, hold it as long as you can! JFB Off Road will be bringing out one of their amazing custom vehicles, so you’ll look super cool while you’re dying inside and your hands are begging for mercy.  Women's hold will use the same frame apparatus, but they’ll lift and hold a pickup truck instead of a Jeep. Feel free to douse your hands in chalk, but no straps, no gloves, no other part of the body touching the apparatus.

The first two events are rising bar, but this event will go in reverse order of entries received, so early entries will have the advantage of watching everyone else go first.

Early weigh-ins will be available the day before at the One Way Strength clubhouse in St. Anne, IL between 4:30-5:30pm, or you can weigh in the day of the competition.

This contest is a USS Nationals Qualifier.

No spectator fee, so bring all your friends and family to cheer on the strong people! Kankakee River State park has miles of hiking trails, several playgrounds, and plenty of beautiful river views. We’ll be set up in the Main Shelter pavilion.
