Why "Ram Man"- it was the title of my Dads job when he was on the swat team. Meaning it was on him to break down any doors they were needing to get through. If we're being symbolic, I feel this name and event are about facing obstacles in our way head on and with brute force.
This event is in support of my Dad, Kevin Housh. He's a retired Omaha police officer and an almost nauseating perfect family man and friend. He can do no wrong.
Literally...ask anyone.
Three weeks ago he had a seizure, which led to the finding of a cancerous brain tumor. On July 13th he had surgery to remove the tumor and will begin radiation and chemo shortly.
This event is an addition to a fundraiser being put on for him the same day at the same location. All proceeds will be given to the family to help offset any financial troubles that come with this diagnosis, such as medical bills and the loss from not being able to work. Although he "retired" in 2020, he has still been working a full time job with physicians mutual and part time on the Plattsmouth Police Department.
The Showdown
Vibe check-This will very much have a "backyard strongman" feel to it. Think, going to the junkyard to pick up random heavy sh*t with your meathead of a friend.
Where - Hidden Hollow Campground. This event will be 100% outside
When- August 5
Start time-
8:00 am - Athlete welcome/Check in
8:45 am - Breif meeting
9:00 am- Event 1 begins
Event 1-
Athlete will have 60 seconds to complete 4 tire flips + AMRAP sandbag to shoulder
Scored by how many reps completed for tire flip + sandbag to shoulder
Event 2-
Max axle bar deadlift
Deadlift will be done in an ascending weight with starting weight attempts. Each athlete will have 3 attempts however the weight will not go down. A referee will call out the weight on the bar and athletes will line up for the called weight. You are responsible for getting in line for the weight you'd like to attempt. If an attempt is failed, you may retake the weight after other athletes have gone for that weight. If this means you follow yourself then a 1-minute rest period will be allowed before the next attempt. If you fail your first 2 attempts you are out. I recommend your opening weight be something you know you can pull so you can get on the board! The bar must be guided back to the floor, dropped weights will be a forfeited lift. All divisions going at once. 20lbs jumps for all classes. 30 seconds to complete the lift.
Allowed: Mixed grip, knee sleeves, belts, and chalk.
Not Allowed: grip shirts, suits, briefs, any form of tacky or adhesives, wrist straps, and gloves.

Mystery Medley
Event 4-
Tire Toss
?Athlete will have 3 attempts to throw a tire as far as they can. Any throwing method can be used. You cannot cross the line before or after throwing. Athlete must exit back of throwing area after each attempt.
Scored by your farthest thrown distance out of your 3 attempts
Event 5-
Jeep pull
Will be positioning yourself into a large tire with feet out in front of you and pulling the vechile torwards you
Scored by fastest time completing distance set for pull

We will be aiming to finish up around 1. You're all invited and encouraged to go enjoy the fundraiser following! I will post the flyer with details. Highly recommend getting some of the tacos for lunch!

Athletes wanting to compete please sign up as soon as possible so I'm able to set up events with the number of competitors in mind.

I am aware this is short notice to put this on and athletes want to have time to train.
One of the reasons I love strongman so much is that the majority of competitors have little to no access to most of the implements used for meets. It's a chance to just show up and test out your strength in a beautifully badass way. More importantly it's about the community and doing difficult things together. Finding joys in the stuggle and supporting eachother through it. Which is what this day is all about.
I will not be seeking out sponsors, but if anyone feels called to do so that'd be wonderful. Not necessary but would allow for the opportunity of a more successful and fun event.
