Resistance of the Strong(wo)men
$120
Tomball, TX
OHHH YEAHHH!! We just keep getting BIGGER!!
I’m so freaking excited! This next show will only continue to grow in epicness! And it wouldn’t be a Rise show without awesome prizes, unique events, and WWE style walkouts for the main event!
Remember, this is an unsanctioned show so no invites to nationals will be awarded. If you’re hungry and ready to be #1 in the world, this isn’t the show for you. But if you want more experience, want to have a freaking blast of a time, want to come out of strongman/woman retirement, and want to show Houston an amazing performance, then smash that sign up button!!!
Costume Party
Our show is on the Day of the Dead!! Costumes are encouraged but not required for athletes, volunteers, and guests. I'm working on an award for best costume or costume group!!
We will have a costume parade during the lunch break where everyone can jump in their costumes and show off in front of the crowd. Come earn your title as best costume! Show me whatcha got!
Schedule
We are going to keep it tighter and tighter every show. I fully expect us to get done on time. Last show we got done with awards by 5pm, this one I'm hoping for 4pm (barring acts of God lol).
RULES MEETING 8:20 am 11/2 IS REQUIRED!! Everyone should already know the rules, this is where we settle final questions and I alert you of any changes. Please plan to come BEFORE the meeting as you will need to find parking, walk to the venue, and get acquainted. Make time for that so that you are ready to go for the meeting!!!!
During the event I ask from you guys is help me run this fast! Be efficient with warm ups and memorize your order. When it's your turn coming up be ALREADY ready! Chalk, gear, everything ready to go! That helps everyone go home on time.
Weigh ins and Tiebreakers
WEIGHT INS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL CLASSES. SHW, Master's, teen, everyone! These will be on Friday 11/1 at 7:30am to 10am and 5pm-7pm at the main rise gym building. You have unlimited retries, you can buy a day pass to use our sauna/cardio equipment, anything to get to your correct weight. Please plan to attend these. Day of weigh ins are allowed, but too many slows the morning down. Reach out and we will work with you to get an 11/1 weigh in if at all possible.
If you absolutely need a 11/2 weigh in, then it must be completed BEFORE our required 8:20am meeting. this means you found parking, found the building, AND got through the line and weighed before 8:20. so that means come extra early to be safe. There is no double trying during 11/2 weigh ins, One weigh and that’s it. Doors open for athletes only at 7:30 am, guests can start coming in at 8:05am.
This is your second tier tiebreaker. First will be a lookback (iron podium will calculate who got more 1st places in events), followed by your bodyweight. This is automatic tiebreaking to avoid confusion. If there is still at tie a mystery event will be performed.
Overall Rules
-This is a PG-13 event. Music will reflect that
-Shoes must be worn at all times.
-If you get any bodily fluids on equipment, you are responsible for cleaning it (with our materials) for sanitary health reasons
-Grip shirts and costumes are welcomed!
-Judges rulings are final. Judges reserve the right to take away a rep if they weren’t satisfied and accidentally moved their hand. You and your direct weight class will have the same judge for an event to avoid different judging.
-One challenge per show per athlete is allowed, but it must have clear video evidence that you are responsible for shooting. No clear footage of your grievance means I have to default to our judge and staff. If you have footage I will see if you have a legitimate claim. If so I’ll call a meeting where I discuss with that judge and everyone in your weight class face to face (all athletes if necessary). You and your competitors will be heard, you can hear my thought process with the judge, and final decisions will be made in front of everyone to avoid confusion. Promoter reserves the right to modify calls/points, but only after these requirements are met.
-Final scores will be uploaded to ironpodium for 15+ min before the award ceremony. an announcement will be made and you are responsible for checking these and submitting your final challenges. Once the ceremony starts, no more challenges to judge calls or scoring will be heard nor changed.
-There may be changes to equipment outside of my control (example: a sandbag tears). If so, to avoid confusion, I will call a meeting with judges and athletes all together to decided on a change that's most fair for everyone.
-Be positive, encourage each other, and be a positive example for others to try the sport. Remember, you are representing the greatest sport in the world!
Event 1 MAX Truck Tire Mammoth Bar Deadlift
A test of brute strength and fearlessness!
- We have 90 lb truck tires that are a 15" pick from the floor! We also have a new Strongarm sport mammoth bars coming in, 10 feet in length, 60 lbs ea. If your starting weight is under 240 lbs, we will start you on a 13" pick titan wagon wheels and mammoth bar (must have >150 lbs as an attempt for this event).
- Modified Wessel's rules: 3 attempts on a rising bar. Athletes must write their first attempt and initial it at weigh ins, and announce to score runner what their next attempt will be after completing one. You can change your weight attempt at any time before you start, but score runner must be aware and you must initial it again.
- At ea weight jump, we will call out athletes in reverse sign up order (If you sign up first you get to scope your competiton ;)).
- I will allow a 4th attempt for a tiebreaker only
- Jumps are 20 lbs for dudettes, 30 lbs for dudes.
- If every athlete with live attempts in a class agrees, they can "chip" an attempt. Meaning, they can agree to a 10 lb jump, instead of the 30 lb jump (This is normally when the weight gets super heavy)
- If you fail an attempt, you are allowed to retry your next attempt at same weight or try heavier weight. Only 1 min rest if you are the last for that attempt
- 30" per attempt, but bar is live if off ground and in motion
- If we get to your weight and no one can find you, we will assume you forfeited that one attempt.
- Two lanes, one for males and one for females
Event 2 Overhead Gauntlet (Keg, Sandbag, Axle Bar, Log, CBD).
A test of proficiency and technique!
- The highlight of the show! 5 implements, all requiring different techniques, as quick as you can!
- Athlete will start hands off on any implement. Implements will be in a zig zag line going towards the crowd (keg, sandbag, axle bar, log, CBD).
- Athletes can lift in any order BUT the circus dumbbell must be last. Once you attempt it, all the implements behind you are dead.
- Athletes can score only ONCE per implement. Max five points. They have unlimited attempts and can go back and forth between implements (until CBD is attempted). But once you score once on an implement, that implement is scored and dead.
- Split times will not be taken. Score will be amount of reps out of 5, then the faster completion will win the tiebreaker.
- Standard lockout rules apply: full elbow/knee/hip extension, control demonstrated, parallel feet. If athlete slams implement down and/or doesn't guide the implement to crash pad then they will get a no rep and have to retry.
- 60" time limit. implement is live if its chest level and in motion
- We have a 10" shortie CBD for females (Just bought an 8" CBD for novice, master's, and open LW! weight isn't confirmed yet), a 10" long CBD for MW men and lower, and a 12" big boiz CBD for MW's and up :). Keg will be standard for males, pony or slim for females. Sandbags are all Freedom Strength Co. logs are 10" female and 12" male both Texas Power Co., Axles will be smooth 25 lb ones.
- Belt cleans are allowed at this show. However, it is highly recommended you learn a true continental clean for record breaker events (may come to rise soon ;))
- Two lanes one for females and one for males
Event 3 Max Distance Iron Cross carry
A test of determination and tenacity!
- Ohhhh yeah! I'm excited for this one! And if you don't have the implement, you can always practice carrying a buddy ;)
- There will be a 25 foot straightway. Athlete can start locked into implement. They can grab anyway they wish, but weights must stay inside implement (can't turn it upside down)
- On go, athlete will carry implement down and back 25 ft for max distance or until timer stops.
- Athlete is allowed to drop ONLY on or past taped line to reset for different direction. You don't have to drop, you can just step on line, turn and keep going to get more distance. If you drop on the straightway YOU'RE OUT!
- if you skid the bottom on the straightway, you will get a warning, repeat skidding means your attempt is finished
- If athlete drops and implement falls forward, only the most posterior/bottom of implement will count. If there is intentional "throwing" of the implement you will get a penalty or disqualification. Trips or accidents are understandable.
- Females will have a brand spankin new shortie cross 15" wide from Flex Fabrications. Males will have a tall custom cross 16" wide. It's TALL boys! Practice on a tall friend :D.
- Grip shirts and elbow sleeves highly encouraged
- Two lanes one for females and one for males
Event 4: WWE Style Walkouts and Stone Series x5
A test of Grit and Showmanship!!!
- As always, we will have WWE style walkouts. Athletes will send me their favorite song to blast during the performance. They will have their name announced, walk out of the tunnel, get 30" to give a performance to their song, then get set on first stone. The song will play through the whole lift.
- Athletes may have LIQUID Tacky only. True tacky will make too much of a mess at our facility :(
- Athletes will set up hands on the first load platform, on GO they will load every stone lightest to heaviest on ea platform. For safety, athlete MUST stabilize ea stone in the hole before moving onto the next or they will be given a no rep. "air mailing" the stone (flying it over the implement) without placing it in the hole will void that stone from scoring. Cannot skip stones.
- Platforms are beautifully made by Texas Power Co and highest to lowest 60", 54", 48", 42", 36". Men will use these five, Ladies will not have to do the 60". They will have separate yoke bar that is 36" on the end (54", 48", 42", 36", 36"). Also, I'm making the first stone very light across the board to give our shorter athletes a fair shot. But in turn, I want the last stone heavy ;)
- All stones will be cleaned and tacky sealed before the show. You shouldn't have a problem sticking with a good liquid tacky.
- a friend or coach can squirt some liquid tacky on you or give you a tacky towel during your attempt (timer will keep counting down as you reapply)
- Just like the gauntlet, there will be no split times. It will be who got the most reps, then total time taken as a tiebreaker. 60” time limit
