Scenic City Showdown - Tennessee State Strongest Man & Woman Championships
$100
Chattanooga, TN
Mark your Calendars! The Scenic City Showdown will be part of the Chattanooga Fitness Expo. This great event coincides with other strength competitions, including Strongman, Powerlifting, Arm Wrestling, and Bodybuilding. Further details will be posted soon, including hotel information, the fitness expo website, social media info, and other exciting news!
- ALL EVENT WEIGHTS ARE SUBJECT TO SOME VARIANCE AND MAY VARY SLIGHTLY DUE TO SPECIFIC IMPLEMENTS.
- THIS IS A STRONGMAN EVENT. WEIGHTS ARE NOT CALIBRATED. THE UNIQUENESS OF IT IS PICKING UP, CARRYING, HOLDING, OR LOADING ODD OBJECTS TO TEST YOUR STRENGTH. HAVE FUN WITH IT!
- This a United States Strongman Sanctioned Event. You must have a current USS Membership to compete (membership can be obtained at this website link).
- General information about the United States Strongman can be found here. If enough athletes sign up in each weight division to allow for a further breakdown of weight classes or age classes for masters divisions, we will make that adjustment.
- THIS EVENT IS A QAULIFYER FOR THE USS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!
Event 1: Log Clean & Press for Reps— 60 seconds for as many reps as possible. Athletes may start with their hands on the log. You must clean and then press (viper, strict, push, jerk) and wait for the down signal before lowering the implement under control to the starting point. Not holding the log in the locked-out position until given the down command will result in a no-rep. Good lockout consists of the log overhead, arms locked out, head through and looking forward (not up), and feet parallel (no stagger stances). Soft or hard belts (one soft belt and one hard belt can be worn together), elbow sleeves and knee sleeves, wrist wraps, chalk, and grip shirts (no competitor federation logo grip shirts can be worn) are allowed.
Event 2: Frame Deadlift for Reps—A deadlift with a frame for max reps in 60 seconds. You must wait for a down command from the judge, or the rep will not be counted. Straps, elbow sleeves, knee sleeves, and hard and soft belts (one of each can be combined) can be used. Here it comes: NO SUITS OR BREIFS. It's for reps. Why squeeze into one of those darn things anyway for a rep fest!?
Event 3: Sandbag Carry Medley- Athletes will carry sandbags 25 feet, turn, and return 25 feet. You will then drop the bag, pick up another one, and do it again. Then do it one more time for the fun of it! 3 rounds for time, with each round being heavier than the one before it. Let's go! Elbow and knee sleeves are allowed. Hard and soft belts are allowed (one of each can be worn simultaneously). Grip shirts are allowed (same gig, don't bring a competing federation grip shirt). Chalk is allowed. We are working on the exact sandbags we will use, and the final weights for all three event rounds will be given soon. For now, know that the weight will increase each round, and the bags will be packed tight.
Event 4: Farmers Hold for Time—It's the Tennessee State Championship, so let's allow each weight class to set a state record! This is a simple test of grip strength. Pick up the farmer's carry bars in each hand and hold them for maximum time. The listed weight is per hand. Wrists/knee/elbow wraps/sleeves, belts, and chalk are all allowed. No straps or tacky. This is a grip test, so grab hold, pick it up, and find your happy place while the clock runs. We will see if you have what it takes to have your name placed on the state record board!
Event 5: Loading Event—We will pick up some heavy things and put them onto or over something. Details are coming soon.
