Mark your Calendars! The Scenic City Showdown will be part of the Chattanooga Fitness Expo. This great event coincides with other strength competitions, including Strongman, Powerlifting, Arm Wrestling, and Bodybuilding. Further details will be posted soon, including hotel information, the fitness expo website, social media info, and other exciting news!
- This a United States Strongman Sanctioned Event. You must have a current USS Membership to compete (membership can be obtained at this website link).

The Logistics:
- Doors Open: 8am for athletes
- Rules Meeting: 9am, do NOT be late
- Warm Ups: Immediately following rules meeting. Plan is to start first event asap, but no earlier than 9:30 and no later than 9:45.
- Weigh Ins:
- Friday - 8am-12pm or 4:30-7pm with the powerlifting group, make sure they know you are with strongman so they can mark you off on the paper copy and record your weight. You must check in on Saturday at the strongman promoter desk if you do Friday weigh in
- Saturday - 8:30am at strongman promoter desk
- Spectator Fees: $15 for all spectators, remember this is an expo
Event 1: Log Clean & Press for Reps— 60 seconds for as many reps as possible. Athletes may start with their hands on the log. You must clean and then press (viper, strict, push, jerk) and wait for the down signal before lowering the implement under control to the starting point. Not holding the log in the locked-out position until given the down command will result in a no-rep. Good lockout consists of the log overhead, arms locked out, head through and looking forward (not up), and feet parallel (no stagger stances). Soft or hard belts (one soft belt and one hard belt can be worn together), elbow sleeves and knee sleeves, wrist wraps, chalk, and grip shirts (no competitor federation logo grip shirts can be worn) are allowed.
Event 2: Frame Deadlift for Reps—A deadlift with a frame for max reps in 60 seconds. You must wait for a down command from the judge, or the rep will not be counted. Straps, elbow sleeves, knee sleeves, and hard and soft belts (one of each can be combined) can be used. Here it comes: NO SUITS OR BRIEFS. It's for reps. Why squeeze into one of those darn things anyway for a rep fest!? Frame must come to a complete stop. There will not be an up command, but your judge will take away any reps if you just do a tap with a corner or edge. Full stop each rep.
Event 3: Sandbag Carry - Athletes will carry sandbags 25 feet, turn, and return 25 feet. For the sake of not bringing every sandbag I own, this will simply be a drop and repick of the sandbag across the line each time. 3 laps, for time, same weight. Bag must be clearly dropped and hands come completely away from the implement. If you drop the bag before the line, you cannot push it over the line. Must repick and lift over the line. So don't do that. Must go around the cone each lap. Athlete and Implement must fully cross the line into the "end zone" each line, fully drop with hands clear of implement then repick for next lap. Judges will be strict! You will have to repick and move back if you do not follow any rules.
Event 4: Farmers Hold for Time— We do not have the farmers for the state records, so this will be a hold for time with oversized handles. Weights will change from what is listed. Just simply train that grip. Time starts once you lock out. Time ends when any part of the implement touches the ground. Toe crushers, so what them footies! No grip additives aside from chalk, no grip shorts either you sneaky devils. Keep it simple, just you, yours aching hands, and the implement.
Event 5: Sandbag Over Bar Medley—We will pick up 2 sandbags and put them over 2 yokes of varying heights. Light bag over high bar, heavy bag over low bar. No tacky, no suits, no random extra stuff you can think about. You can use grip shirts and grip shorts.
