Singing River Classic
$75
Florence, AL
This is our first annual Singing River Classic! For now, this show is unsanctioned.
Date: 8 November 2025
Location: East Mobile St, Florence, AL
We’ve got part of Mobile St in downtown Florence blocked off for this event. There are bars and restaurants on this street that will be available to patronize during and after the competition.
Weigh Ins: Friday weigh in at Battlefield Athletics gym (2101 US 72W, Killen, AL). Day of weigh ins will be at the judges table on Mobile St starting at 8 AM.
Athletes Meeting: 9:30AM
Show Time: 10AM
EVENTS:
- Max Deadlift
- 3 attempts to max
- rising bar
- no suits or briefs
- everyone will be in one lane on a Texas Deadlift Bar. Starting weight on the bar will be 185 lbs. 20 lb jumps.
- At 10am, athletes will ensure they are in the designated athlete area (caution taped off) and ready to listen to the weights the judges call out. The judge will offer the first weight, and takers will get in line behind the platform. If there aren’t any takers for a weight the judge will move on to the next 20 lb jump and offer that weight. So on and so on until every lifter has completed their 3 lifts.
- You will jump in on your own at whichever weight jump you want to! You may skip jumps if you would like. IF YOU MISS A LIFT YOU ARE OUT REGARDLESS OF WHICH ATTEMPT YOU ARE ON. ONCE WE PASS A WEIGHT WE ARE NOT GOING BACK DOWN IN WEIGHT.
- Conventional pulls only! Straps and belts are allowed.
- Weight jumps to expect (185, 205, 225, 245, 265, 285, 305, 325, 345, 365, 385… so on and so on)
2. Axle Press for reps
- 60 second time limit
- clean and press EVERY rep
- elbows locked, head through, feet in line gets a down call
- we will be using bumper plates
- most reps in the minute wins, no split times.
- You may use any means possible to get the weight over your head (Strict press, push press, push jerk, split jerk, snatch, etc). The axle may not rest on top of your head. Belt cleans are allowed.
- We will be running this in two lanes.
3. Max Distance Yoke Carry
- set weight
- it will be a 50 ft course
- athlete will drop when the front of the yoke crosses the 50 ft line, turn, repick, and carry back to the start
- back and forth until you can’t
- furthest distance wins
- only the front of the yoke has to cross the line each time
- 3 drops or 90 second time limit, whichever happens first.
- this event will happen in two lanes
4. Truck Pull
- ladies will be pulling an 11k lb tow truck, 18k lb tow truck for the guys.
- harnessed pull with rope; 60 second time limit
- 50 ft course. The bumper of the tow truck will be on the line. Competitor will get harnessed in and handed the rope to set up. The judge will give an “athlete ready?”, the athlete is responsible for responding whether is a head node or verbal response to let the judge know you’re set up how you like. The judge will then say “go”, then the athlete will start pulling. You will travel past the 50 ft line! Time stop when the bumper of the truck crosses the line! If not completed in 60 seconds the judge will call “time!”, and the driver will brake the truck where it is to get a distance measurement.
5. Keg Carry into Keg Press(trump option) for reps
- Carry keg down 50ft course
- There will be a lighter keg at the end of the 50 ft waiting on you
- you may either use the keg you carried down (heavier) to clean and press with OR go with the lighter keg
- any reps with the heavier keg beat any reps with lighter keg
- any combination of going back and forth is allowed. Use this wisely for potentially breaking ties.
- Most reps on kegs wins, keg successfully carried counts as one rep, incomplete carry results in zero, heavy keg worth 10 reps, light keg worth 1 rep.
- (ie. if you carry the keg and press the heavy twice, your reps on the scoreboard will be 21. If you carry the keg, press the light keg once and decide to press the heavy keg but get it once your score is 12.)
WEIGHTS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE UPON FURTHER TESTING.
