This event will be ON THE BEACH!

 

Strongman Corporation Sanctioned Competition

  • Athletes will qualify for 2024 Strongman Corporation Nationals and/or Regionals depending on the number of athletes in each division.
    • If there are 2-5 athletes in a class:
      • 1st place - Qualifies for Nationals (2024) and Regionals (2024)
      • 2nd - Qualifies for Regionals (2024)
      • 3rd - Qualifies for Regionals (2024)
    • If there are 6+ athletes in a class:
      • 1st - qualifies for Nationals (2024) and Regionals (2024)
      • 2nd - qualifies for Nationals (2024) and Regionals (2024)
      • 3rd - qualifies for Regionals (2024)
      • 4th - qualifies for Regionals (2024)
  • Based on registration divisions may be expanded or combined.
  • All athletes (including novice) must have an active Strongman Corporation membership to compete.

WEIGH-INS:  Friday 3/22, 8AM-12PM, 2PM-5PM

 

EVENT DESCRIPTIONS:

1. FLORIDA DEADLIFT CHAMPIONSHIPS

  • Athletes will attempt to perform the heaviest Deadlift possible.
  • Standard height with standard deadlift bar.
  • 30 seconds per attempt.
  • Athletes do not have to attempt every weight jump. (20lb jumps for women, 40lb jumps for men).
  • Unlimited attempts (legitimate attempts ONLY).
  • Conventional deadlifts only. NO SUMO.
  • Athletes must have knees, hips, and shoulders locked out in order to receive the down command.
  • The competitor MUST wait for the down command, or no rep will be given.
  • Allowed: Suits, belts, chalk, sleeves, wraps, straps, baby powder.
  • Not Allowed: Tacky, baby oil/ Vaseline.

2. MAX YOKE BENCH

  • Athletes will attempt to perform the heaviest Yoke Bench possible.
  • The height of the yoke will be set 2 inches off the athlete's chest. This is to prevent an injury if the athlete drops the yoke. The yoke height for women will be between 6-8 inches off the chest. This is to ensure as many athletes as possible can press the yoke.
  • 30 seconds per attempt
  • Athletes do not have to attempt every weight jump (10lb jump for women, 20lb jump for men)
  • Unlimited attempts (legitimate attempts only)
  • Athletes must press the yoke from the starting position to a locked out position with arms locked out and stable above their chest
  • STABILITY MUST BE SHOWN IN ORDER TO RECEIVE A DOWN CALL
  • The competitor MUST wait for the down command, or no rep will be given.
  • Excessive arching will not be allowed. The elbow crease must be below the shoulders in the starting position. This may not be possible for some athletes. In this case, the judge will help ensure your starting position is acceptable.
  • Athletes must keep their butt on the bench for the duration of the lift.
  • Both feet must remain on the ground for the duration of the lift.
  • Allowed: Belts, chalk, sleeves, wrist wraps, elbow wraps
  • Not allowed: Tacky

3. LOADING RACE

  • Athletes will load 3 sandbags in the fastest time possible.
  • 60 second time limit.
  • Course length is 50ft.
  • Load height will be roughly 36" into the back of a Toyota Tundra. Keep in mind, this will be on sand, so you will sink a little, making the load height slightly higher.
  • If an athlete does not load all 3 implements in the time allotted, they will be scored on split times for the number of implements completed.
  • Athletes must lift sandbags in order from lightest to heaviest.
  • Time will stop when all 3 implements are loaded and hands are off the implements.
  • All implements must stay on the platform. If an athlete falls off, the athlete must reload it.
  • Belts with a hard buckle must be turned to the side or back so the buckle does not come in contact with the bags.
  • Allowed: Chalk, belt, knee and elbow sleeves, grip shirts, and gloves are allowed.
  • Not Allowed: USS grip shirts, tacky

4. CIRCUS BARBELL

  • Athletes must clean and press the circus barbell for as many reps as possible in 60 seconds.
  • Athletes must clean and press every rep.
  • Athletes must wait for the DOWN command from the judge.
  • The barbell must touch the ground between reps.
  • Athletes must demonstrate control of the implement at lockout.
  • A rep will be completed when the implement is pressed overhead with arms locked out, head through, and feet even.
  • Athletes may use any method to get the implement from the ground to overhead. Continental cleans, power cleans, hang cleans, etc. are all allowed. Strict press, push press, push jerk, split jerk, etc, are all allowed.
  • Belt cleans are allowed.
  • Allowed: Grip shirts, chalk, sleeves, belts, wrist wraps
  • Not allowed: USS grip shirts, tacky, gloves

5. KEG TOSS

  • Athletes will toss 4 kegs over a bar as quickly as possible.
  • Height will be 12 ft for women and 15 feet for men
  • 60 second time limit
  • Split times will be taken after each keg
  • Time will stop once the final keg clears the bar and hits the ground
  • 3 strike rule: 3 fails allowed. After 3 failed throws, the athlete's attempt will be finished and their time recorded from the last completed keg.
  • Athletes must throw the bags in ascending weight.
  • Allowed: Chalk, wrist wraps, hard or soft belt, knee sleeves, elbow sleeves
  • Not allowed: Tacky, gloves

IF THERE IS A TIE FOR A PODIUM POSITION OR A REGIONALS/NATIONALS QUALIFYING POSITION, THE TIEBREAKER WILL BE A MYSTERY EVENT DRAWN AT RANDOM.
