Welcome to The Southeast Strongman Open presented by Cerberus Strength USA, home of the Alabama Log Lift Championships!

This event is part of the Parisi Speed School Fall Festival. There will be plenty of games and entertainment for kids and the whole family!

 

Strongman Corporation Sanctioned Competition

  • Athletes will qualify for 2024 Strongman Corporation Nationals and/or 2024 Regionals depending on the number of athletes in each division.
    • If there are 2-5 athletes in a class:
      • 1st place - Qualifies for Nationals (2024) and Regionals (2024)
      • 2nd - Qualifies for Regionals (2024)
      • 3rd - Qualifies for Regionals (2024)
    • If there are 6+ athletes in a class:
      • 1st - qualifies for Nationals (2024) and Regionals (2024)
      • 2nd - qualifies for Nationals (2024) and Regionals (2024)
      • 3rd - qualifies for Regionals (2024)
      • 4th - qualifies for Regionals (2024)
  • Based on registration, divisions may be expanded or combined.
  • All athletes (including Novice) must have active Strongman Corporation membership to compete.

EARLY WEIGH-IN: Friday 9/22/23, 9AM-12PM, 2-4 PM at Parisi Speed School of the River Region

DAY-OF WEIGH-IN: Appointment Only

RULES MEETING: 8:30

COMPETITION START: 9:00

All athletes must be present by 8:00. If you have not weighed in by that time, you will be taken off the competitor list and removed from the competition.

 

EVENT DESCRIPTIONS:

1. IRON AND STONE FITNESS ALABAMA LOG LIFT CHAMPIONSHIPS

  • AT LEAST $1,000 PRIZE MONEY WILL BE AWARDED TO RECORD BREAKERS
  • Athletes will clean and press as much weight as possible on the log for 1 rep
  • A successful attempt will be completed when the arms are locked out overhead, head through, and knees locked out
  • If you can not lock out your arms fully, you must tell your judge prior to the event so they can accurately judge your attempts
  • Athletes may use any technique. Strict press, push press, push jerk, and split jerks are all allowed
  • Athletes will have 3 attempts. The heaviest successful attempt will count as your score for this event
  • 30 seconds per attempt. If the log has broken the floor when time expires, the rep will count
  • There is no tiebreaker if athletes record the same score. Ties are possible
  • Women will open at 100lbs and have 10lb jumps
  • Men will open at 210lbs and have 20lb jumps
  • Athletes may jump in and out as they want
  • Equipment allowed: Elbow sleeves, knee sleeves, hard belt, soft belt, wrist wraps, grip shirt, chalk
  • Equipment not allowed: Tacky or anything sticky, straps of any kind, knee wraps, elbow wraps

 

2. AXLE DEADLIFT FOR REPS

  • Athletes will deadlift the axle for as many reps as possible in 60 seconds.
  • Standard 9" bar height.
  • A successful rep will be completed when the bar is lifted to lockout with the knees locked, hips through, and shoulders back. NO SOFT LOCKOUTS WILL BE ALLOWED
  • Conventional lifts only. NO SUMO DEADLIFTS
  • NO BOUNCE REPS. The bar must come to a complete stop each rep. If you bounce the weight, you will not be awarded a rep
  • Athletes will strap in and then be given the lift command.
  • If an athlete spills any bodily fluid (blood, etc.) on the platform, they will have to clean up before leaving the platform
  • Athletes may lift in socks only. No bare feet
  • Equipment allowed: Chalk, hard belt, soft belt, standard straps, figure 8 straps, powder, knee sleeves, elbow sleeves
  • Equipment not allowed: Suits, briefs, tacky or anything sticky, oil, vaseline or anything else slippery, hooks

 

3. WORLD'S STRONGEST OPINIONS SANDBAG TOSS

  • Athletes will toss 4 bags back over their heads over a bar as quickly as possible
  • Height will be 12ft for women and 15ft for men
  • 60 second time limit
  • Split times will be taken
  • Time will stop once the final bags clears the bar and hits the ground
  • 2 fails allowed. After 2 failed throws, the athletes attempt will be finished and their time recorded from the last completed bag
  • Athlete must throw the bags in ascending weight
  • Equipment allowed: Chalk, wrist wraps, hard belt, soft belt, knee sleeves, elbow sleeves
  • Equipment not allowed: Tacky or anything sticky, gloves

 

4. CERBERUS STRENGTH USA SANDBAG TO SHOULDER LADDER

  • Athletes will shoulder as many sandbags as possible in ascending weight in 60 seconds
  • A rep will be completed when the bag is lifted to the athletes shoulder and stabilized with 1 hand only on the bag
  • Athletes may shoulder the bag using any technique
  • Weight listed is the starting weight for every class
  • All bags are Cerberus bags and increase in 20kg increments up to 180kg (397lbs)
  • Every class will have the opportunity to go as heavy as they can from their starting weight up to 180kg (397lbs)
  • Split times will be taken
  • Time will be recorded from the time the judge gives the down call
  • Hard belt buckles must be turned to the back
  • Equipment allowed: Gloves, chalk, elbow sleeves, knee sleeves, grip shirts, hard belt, sot belt, wrist wraps
  • Equipment not allowed: Tacky or anything sticky, knee wraps

 

5. FARMER'S CARRY

  • Athletes will carry the Farmer's Walk implements 50ft down the course, make a turn, and carry the implements 50 ft back to the starting line as quickly as possible. 100ft total
  • No drops allowed
  • If an athlete drops, distance will be measured
  • Time will stop when the front of the implements cross the line
  • 60 second time limit
  • No sliding. There will be a 2 second slide penalty at the judge's discretion
  • Equipment allowed: Chalk, elbow sleeves, knee sleeves, wrist wraps, hard belt, soft belt
  • Equipment not allowed: Tacky or anything sticky, gloves, straps or hooks of any kind, knee wraps

IN THERE IS A TIE FOR A PODIUM POSITION OR REGIONALS QUALIFYING POSITION, THE TIE BREAKER WILL BE A MYSTERY EVENT DRAWN AT RANDOM
