Spring into Strongman! Novice Only Event!

This is a friendly introduction to the sport of Strongman. If you're a Novice competitor this is definitely one to do!

Weights and events subject to change. If there are any updates all athletes will be emailed.

Weigh Ins

Day before, Friday March 7th 8:00-9:30am, 4:00-7:00pm

Day of, Saturday  March 8th 8:00-9:00pm

Top 3 in each weight class will be awarded trophies

Winner of each weight class will be invited to the 2025 US Strongman National Championship 

Rules

Equipment allowed - Chalk, 2 belts max (1 soft & 1 hard), elbow and knee sleeves, wrist wraps, wrist straps (for Deadlift only), grip shirts (no Strongman Corp or OSG logos), Tacky Towel (For Stone of Steel Only), 

Axle Clean & Press Away

  • 60 second time limit to press as many reps as possible
  • Athletes will clean once and press as many times as possible
  • Axle is to be pressed overhead with the elbow, shoulder and hips locked out with feet parallel. Demonstrate control before the judge gives a "Down" command
  • Bring Axle back down to mat in a relatively controlled manner.

Car Deadlift

  • Athletes will have 60 seconds to get as many reps as they can
  • Judge will give a verbal and visual "Down" command once the athlete has successfully deadlifted the implement
  • A good lift is when the athlete's knees, hips, and shoulders are locked out and control is demonstrated

Yoke Walk

  • Athletes will have a 60 second time limit
  • Course is 50' down and back
  • Scoring will be fastest time or furthest distance if one is unable to complete the full course in time limit
  • Athletes will start under Yoke

Strongman Obstacle Course

  • Athletes will have 60 seconds to complete course
  • Scoring will be fastest time or furthest distance if one is unable to complete the full course in time limit
  • Athlete will have 3 implements to carry and load down the course. First will be the duck walk, the athlete will carry that 15', then drop and grab the sandbag at that stage. The athlete will carry and load the sandbag over the yoke staged 15' away. There will be a final sandbag at that yoke that the athlete will carry and load over the final yoke at the end of the course.
  • Women will load to a height of 42" and 46". Men will load to a height of 46" and 50"
  • Weights, distances, and heights of bars will be determined in testing and may change slightly

Stone of Steel Over Bar

  • Athletes will have a 60 second time limit to complete as many reps as possible.
  • Women will load a 17" SoS to a 48" bar, Men will load a 20" SoS to a 52" bar
  • Athletes will start with hands on bar before "start" command is given
  • Pretty simple, pick it up and load it over the bar. Spotter will return stone to the athlete as quickly as possible
