Event Descriptions
1. Circus Dumbbell (reps): Athletes will start with both hands off the dumbbell, once the judge says “athlete ready…go” the athlete will then have 60 seconds to clean and press a circus dumbbell as many times as possible. There will be a crash pad on the ground. Between every rep, at least some part of the dumbbell needs to touch the pad. A "down" command will be given when the bell is locked out overhead with feet on a straight line, and eye contact made with the judge. The bell must be controlled back to the ground. Women will use an 8" bell with 2" handle. Men will use a 10" bell with 2.5" handle.
Equipment Allowed: Belts, Wrist Wraps, Elbow Sleeves, Knee Sleeves, Grip Shirt, chalk, liquid chalk.
Not Allowed: Gloves, tacky, anything sticky.
2. Deadlift Ladder: Athletes will have 60 seconds for the event. The Athletes will be given an “athlete ready…go” and will then deadlift the first bar, once given a “down” command they will set the bar down and move on to the next bar. (Any intentional damage, dropping, slamming, or misuse of the bar’s will result in a disqualification) They will then deadlift the 2nd bar, after given a “down” command they will then proceed to the 3rd bar, which will be an Axle bar where they will have a 13" deadlift where they are going to complete as many reps as possible on the 13" Axle bar with the time remaining. Athletes must wait for a “down” command on every rep, no “touch and go”.
Athletes will start behind the bar and must strap in on their own time (i.e. after "Athlete Ready….Go"). Some kind of foot covering must be worn (no naked toesies here!) - socks are fine.
Equipment Allowed: Belts (hard and soft), lifting straps, figure-8 straps, knee sleeves, elbow sleeves, chalk, liquid chalk, and baby powder (which must be applied to a designated area ONLY, not on the competition floor). (Any athlete who uses baby powder must clean the bar’s after there time is up and before the next competitor can go),
Not Allowed: no suits, briefs, or knee wraps (anything considered "geared" in "geared" powerlifting); no oil or anything weird on your legs; no hooks, no tacky.
3. Sandbag Carry Max Distance: Athlete will carry a sandbag as far as possible with no time limit. The implement must be carried in front of the body, and may NOT rest on a belt or on the top of the shoulders. The athlete will receive a 3-foot "grace" zone (marked) in which to reset if needed at the start of the attempt. Once any part of the athlete's foot steps out of the "grace" zone, the attempt will count and cannot be reset. The attempt ends when ANY part of the implement touches the ground. There are NO exceptions to this rule.
Equipment Allowed: Belt, knee sleeves, elbow sleeves, and chalk (liquid or powder).
Not Allowed: No gloves, nothing sticky, no suits/briefs
4. Tire Flip: Athletes will flip a tire 50ft end over end. We will be scoring off distance for those who do not finish.
**we are still deciding which tires each class will use, weights will be announced as soon as determined**
Equipment Allowed: hard belt, soft belt, elbow sleeves, knee sleeves, wrist wraps, grip shirt, chalk, liquid chalk
Not Allowed: Tacky, Spray Tacky, Multiple hard belts, Knee Wraps
5. Last Man Standing Stone Off: Athlete will load an atlas stone back and forth, head to head over a bar for max reps. Athletes will have a max of 30 seconds starting when the stone lands on the ground of your side for each attempt. If you miss, you're done. Heights will be 44" for women; 48" for men
Equipment Allowed: belt, knee sleeves, elbow sleeves, chalk (liquid or powder), gloves, grip shirt, spray tacky ONLY
Not Allowed: suits/briefs, TACKY
