WEIGH-IN FOR WORLDWIDE QUALIFIERS

Meadowview Conference Resort & Convention Center

8am-9am
1901 Meadowview Pkwy
Kingsport, TN 37660

Weigh in must be completed on the same day as the competitor’s lifts. Athletes that are overweight at the qualifier will be given the option to change class on the day.

RUNNING ORDER

The log lift must precede the deadlift in the event. (Athletes may choose to compete in only one of the events)

SCORING

  1. Your overall final score is the combined total of your heaviest completed Log Lift and heaviest completed deadlift under the specific rules.
  2. The competitor with the highest total (or score in the juniors, novice and first timer classes) in each division will be declared the winner.
  3. In case of tied total within any division, the competitor with the lighter weigh-in will be declared the winner. If the competitors have the same weight at weigh-in, the winner will be determined by the heaviest log lift.
  4. Athletes will still receive a score even if they ‘Zero’ one of the lifts.
  5. Scoring must be done live in Strength Results

LOG LIFT RULES

  1. Competitors will have 60 seconds to complete each lift after receiving the judge’s lift signal.
  2. The log must be controlled to the ground; throwing or dropping the implements is prohibited and will result in a failed attempt. There is no requirement to return the log to the chest during descent, only to control it to the ground.
  3. Any dropped lift results in a failed attempt and no count will be given. Competitors may retry a failed lift within their allocated 60 seconds. If the log has left the floor before the 60 seconds is up, the athlete is allowed to finish the rep.
  4. Each competitor is allowed three attempts, as long as within the 60 seconds time limit.
  5. Competitors nominate their opening attempt for both events during the check-in. There is no minimum start weight in the qualifier.
  6. Once nominated, the competitors cannot reduce their weight after a failed or completed attempt.
  7. No minimum weight increases due to international events using different units    ( lbs or kgs)
  8. No total is awarded if no complete lifts are counted.
  9. A lift is completed when the judge calls ‘down’ with locked knees, hips and shoulders and head through. If a competitor has a problem with not being able to lock any joints due to body mechanics, they must make the judge aware before the start of event, and it will be at the judge’s discretion if a lift is acceptable, judges’ decision is final and any aggressive disagreements could lead to disqualification.
  10. Competitors nominate their second lift weight immediately after completing their first lift. Lifts cannot be changed after this has been entered.
  11. Competitors nominate their third lift immediately after completing their second lift. Lifts cannot be changed after this has been entered.
  12. Belts are allowed: an under and over belt are permitted. No additions or stuffing into the belt to create a shelf.
  13. The log can touch, bounce off, or rest on the belt during the clean.
  14. Chalk is allowed.
  15. Tacky and straps are not allowed.
  16. Wraps and sleeves are allowed, limited to one item per joint, including ‘equipped’ elbow sleeves. No multiple sleeves or cuffs on one joint.
  17. If a spotter intervenes in the lift, the log must be reset to the ground. If the spotter steps in too early, the lifter can opt for an additional 60 seconds or repeat the lift at the end of the round.
  18. The log cannot be rested on or touch any part of the head during the lift.
  19. Men must use the 12? Log as laid out in the equipment regulations.
  20. Women can nominate either the 10? or 12? log, 8? or any other size logs are strictly prohibited.

DEADLIFT RULES

  1. Conventional stance deadlift is mandatory; Sumo stance, Jefferson deadlifts, or any other variation are not allowed. Hands must remain outside the knees for the entire lift.
  2. Straps, including figure 8 straps are permitted, but they must remain tight, and the hands must be around/holding the axle. A long figure 8 strap with only fingertips touching the bar is not acceptable, thumbs must be touching the bar at all times throughout the lift.
  3. Deadlift suits are allowed, but no multi layers or briefs are too be worn in addition to the suit. The suit must be worn under the official competition t-shirt.
  4. Each competitor is allowed 3 attempts within the 60 second time limit.
  5. Competitors cannot reduce their nominated weight after a failed or completed attempt.
  6. No minimum weight increases due to international events using different units (lbs or kgs). There is no minimum start weight at the qualifier.
  7. In the event of a failed lift, the competitor must allow the bar to come to a dead stop before attempting the second lift.
  8. Weight must be controlled to the ground for the lift to count.
  9. Competitors have 60 seconds to complete each lift after the Referee has declared “bar loaded” and lifting can continue until the 60 seconds expire. If the bar has left the ground before the 60 seconds is up then the athlete is allowed to finish the rep
  10. No total is awarded if no complete lifts are counted
  11. The lift is considered complete when the judge calls ‘down’, requiring the lifter to have knees, hips and shoulders locked out, lower or dropping weight before the down signal will be a failed attempt.
  12. Competitors nominate their second lift weight immediately after completing their first lift. Lifts cannot be changed after this has been entered.
  13. Competitors nominate their third lift weight immediately after completing their second lift. Lifts cannot be changed after this has been entered.
  14. Chalk is allowed.
  15. Tacky is not allowed.

ADAPTIVE RULES

  1. Adaptive Standing male and female to follow the rules outlined above.
  2. Adaptive Standing Dumbbell rules:The Dumbbell must start from the floor and can be picked up using one or both hands, once the dumbbell is on the shoulder in the rack position, only one hand may remain on the dumbbell.  Once pressed the dumbbell must be under control, arm locked out before a down signal may be given. If the dumbbell is not under control or the feet are not set, the lift will not be given.
  3. Adaptive Seated, male and female:
    1. Seated Deadlift
      1. A regular flat gym bench is required, load-rated for the lifter’s weight combined with their planned maximum deadlift.
      2. There must be 17.5” clearance between the floor and the underside on the bench to allow full lock out of the deadlift. (see exampleb
  1. Seated Log Lift
    1. Incline angle – 60 degrees.
    2. No ‘rolling’ the log into the rack position, it must start from a stationary position on the lifter’s rack. If the log is rolled into position, the safety bars are too high.

CONSIDERATIONS FOR ADAPTIVE ATHLETES

  1. For the Standing division, participants must have a physical disability preventing them from safely handling the weights in the open division or competing against athletes without disabilities.
  2. In the seated division, athletes either have a physical disability requiring the use of a wheelchair or meet the physical criteria for the standing division but choose to compete in a wheelchair. For example, those with a prosthetic leg may choose either division based on the prosthetic limb’s condition.
  3. In the seated neuro division, all athletes must have cerebral palsy, spina bifida, MS or a similar condition impairing optimal neurological function at a level disadvantaging them against someone with a fully functioning nervous system.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP RULES (In addition to the above)

  1. Competitors must participate in the class for which they qualified. Changing classes renders them a non-scoring competitor even if they fail to make their weight for the qualified class. No refunds will be given to athletes not making weight.
  2. Athletes qualifying in multiple categories will not be allowed to compete across two separate classes. Athletes will have to nominate which category they are going to compete in with 28 days of the qualifier, to allow places to be given to other athletes.
  3. Nominated lifts must progress in a minimum of 2.5kg increments.
  4. Grip Shirts are permitted but must be worn underneath the competition-supplied shirt which is mandatory for all lifts.
  5. Competition t-shirts must be worn for all lifts and worn over the deadlift suit straps.
  6. Competitors may have one coach backstage with them, but coaches are not permitted on the lifting platforms, except in the case of adaptive athletes that require assistance in getting into position on the platform.
  7. As of 2026 if you wish to break a Static Monsters World Record, then this must be attempted at the World Championships only
This is so all requirements for a World Record attempt can be checked and confirmed by a member of the Static Monsters team. excited to be hosting Static Monsters Worldwide at Iron Mayhem Strength & Conditioning.
