Sticks and Stones 2
$30
Benson, NC
Get back to the roots of strongman with Sticks and Stones. The event promises to break up the monotony of your usual strongman contests. This is an unsanctioned contest, open to amateurs and pros alike. All skill levels are welcome to come play with:
STICKS & STONES.
Max Log
Athletes will have 60 seconds for each attempt, a total of 3 attempts. You will be afforded all attempts regardless of whether you miss on a previous attempt. Men's log is a 12'' Log, Women's will be a 10'' log. The implement must be lowered under control. Dropping the log from overhead will result in a big fat zero. Listed weights in the matrix are starting weights.
All supportive gear is allowed.
Stone Heave
If you've done highland games or hammer throw, then you know what to expect. Each athlete will be afforded a total of 2 attempts to achieve a maximum distance. The furthest distance will go towards your score. To perform this, you may either remain planted for the throw or spin. The throwing area from which you will throw will be painted on the ground and will measure 4ft 6in wide and 7ft 6in long. The distance shall be measured from the edge of the throwing box to the center of impact of the stone. You will have 30 seconds per attempt.
Last year, Sticks and Stones had a shot put style, this will be a stone at the end of a handle.
All supportive gear is allowed.
NC Pine Deadlift
Athletes will be given 60 seconds to achieve as many reps as possible with the implement. Split times will not be taken for this event. If two or more athletes are tied for reps, then they will split points. Athletes are allowed to strap in before the time starts.
Knees, hips, and shoulders locked out and wait for the down command to be given a rep.
Height of the lift will be set for 18 inches.
This will be a lever deadlift.
All supportive gear is allowed.
Inverted Stone Hold
Assert your dominance over gravity. Athletes will be given a stone in a conic shape. Forearms will rest on a table, with hands holding the stone over the edge. The stone will be positioned with the large side down, tapering up. Time ends when the implement can no longer be held up.
Chalk is allowed, no tacky.
Timber Drag
Athletes will have 60 seconds to complete the course. You will drag the timber for 100ft with no turns, and the front of the implement must cross the line, at which point time will be called by the judge. The course is a mix of dirt and grass. The handle will be a close grip handle attached to chains.
Stone Over Bar
Athletes are given 90 seconds to achieve as many reps as possible. Time begins with the athlete's forearms placed on the bar. If the time ends, and the stone is descending over the bar, a rep will be awarded.
The volunteers will return the stone to you for each rep. So, it benefits you to put the stone over the bar in a controlled fashion to receive it more quickly.
All supportive gear is allowed.
