Montana Strongman Classic 2024

Weigh ins will be held on August 2nd at 777 Fitness and Wellness Center, 777 15th Street West, from 9am - 11am and 5pm - 7pm.  Please contact the meet director if other arrangements are needed.  ALL athletes must weigh in.  A current Strongman Corporation membership must be presented at the time of weigh ins.  Memberships can be purchased at https://strongmancorporation.com/licensing-memberships-copy/.

The 777 Fitness and Wellness Center nursery will be open for childcare during the event by appointment only.  Please call 406-259-2626 to reserve a spot at least 48hrs in advance.

The Billings Hotel has set aside a block of rooms for athletes.  Please mention that you are competing in the Montana Strongman Classic when making a reservation for the discount.

Weight classes and divisions may be combined if there are single entries.

Athlete rules meeting will take place at 8am and the competition will begin at 9am.

Proof Donuts and La Taqueria MT will be onsite.

Awards and prize packages will be given for 1st-3rd place.

If there are 2-5 athletes a class:

If there are 6+ athletes in a class:

1st - Nationals

1. PROOF DONUTS DEADLIFT CHAMPIONSHIPS

  • This will be a STATE RECORD setting event.  Heaviest overall non-novice male and female deadlifts of the day will receive a CASH PRIZE of $500!
  • Athletes will attempt to perform the heaviest Deadlift possible.
  • Standard height with standard deadlift bar.
  • Athletes will approach the bar and get themselves set.  The judge will confirm the athlete is ready and give a start command.
  • The competitor MUST wait for the down command, or no rep will be given.
  • Athletes must have knees, hips, and shoulders locked out in order to receive the down command.
  • 30 seconds per attempt.
  • Athletes will choose their attempt weights.  Opening attempts will be collected at weigh ins.
  • 3 Attempts (legitimate attempts ONLY).  If an athlete fails an attempt they are done.
  • Conventional deadlifts only. NO SUMO.
  • Allowed: belts, chalk, sleeves, wraps, straps, baby powder.
  • Not Allowed: Suits, supportive briefs, tacky, baby oil/ Vaseline.
  • If an athlete wishes to compete in the deadlift event only they can use discount code DEADLIFT at checkout.

 

2. ALMALLI WELLNESS MEDLEY 

  • This will be a duck walk to sled drag event.
  • Two athletes in the same class will compete head-to-head.  Overall standings will determine athlete pairings.
  • Athletes will approach the duck walk implement and may place their hands on it.  The judge will give an athlete ready command and start command.
  • Athletes will move the duck walk implement down the course and must cross the 50foot line with the implement.  The athletes will then grab the strap of a waiting sled with their hands and pull the sled 50feet back to the starting line.  Once the sled crosses the line the time will stop.      If an athlete is unable to finish the course in the time limit a distance they traveled will be used in scoring.
  • 60 second time limit.
  • Allowed: belts, chalk, wraps, sleeves.
  • Not Allowed:  tacky, straps

 

3. HEAD-TO-HEAD AXLE PRESS FOR REPS

  • Two athletes in the same class will compete head-to-head.  Overall standings will determine athlete pairings.
  • Athletes will approach the implement and may place their hands on it.  The judge will give an athlete ready command and start command.
  • Athletes will complete as many reps as possible within the time limit.
  • Each rep must start from the ground and be pressed overhead. Every rep must have elbows locked out, feet in a "square" stance, and wait for the judge's down command. You may use any technique to press the implement, such as a split jerk, but if you do feet must come back together to a square stance during lockout before the down command.
  • 60 second time limit.
  • A smooth axle bar and wagon wheel plates will be used.
  • Equipment not allowed: USS grip shirts (non-USS grip shirts are allowed ex Strongman Corp, Cerberus, etc), anything sticky.

 

4. TRUCK PULL

  • The athlete will put on the pulling harness, approach the start position and take their grip on the rope.  The judge will give an athlete ready command and a start command.
  • The athlete will pull the truck across the course in the fastest time possible. Time stops when the front tire of the vehicle crosses the line.
  • Course length is 50feet.
  • Time limit is 60 seconds.
  • If an athlete is unable to complete the course a distance will be recorded for scoring.
  • Not allowed: tacky

 

5. TRUMP CAR/TIRE FLIP LADDER

  • All athletes will have a 60 second time limit.
  • Athlete will choose between flipping a car (Mini Cooper) and a tire flip ladder.
  • Trump car flip:  Athletes choosing to flip the car will stage at the start line. Athletes will receive an athlete ready command and a start command.  Athletes will then run to the car and flip it onto its roof as fast as possible.  Time will stop when the roof of the car touches the ground (180 degree flip).  If the athlete is unable to flip the car, they may use their remaining time to attempt the tire flip ladder.
  • Any successful car flip will trump any time set in the tire flip ladder.  If multiple athletes are successful in flipping the car points will be awarded based on completion time.
  • Tire flip ladder:  Three tires of various sizes will be laid out on the course.  Athletes will stage at the start line.  Athletes will receive an athlete ready command and a start command.  Athletes will then run to the tire series and flip each tire 180 degrees as fast as possible.  Time will stop when the final tire is flipped and touches the ground.  Points will be awarded based on time.  If athletes are unable to complete the flip ladder within the 60 second time limit scores will be based on number of implements completed.  If an athlete chooses to attempt the tire flip ladder, they will not be able to attempt the car flip.
  • Equipment not allowed: straps of any kind, suits, tacky.

*You must be at least 12 years old. Anyone under the age of 18 years of age must have permission from their parent or guardian, and their Parent or guardian must register the athlete.
