Axle Press:

Athlete will pick up the axle from the ground and press to full extension (unless injury prevents). Athlete will clean the axle and press away. Athlete must maintain control of the axle from the top, no dropping from full extension allowed. 60 second time limit. Athlete may use wrist wraps, elbow wraps/sleeves, belt, and chalk ONLY. NO TACKY ALLOWED.

Odd Object Carry:

Each implement will be of different size and shape based on weight class. On the count, athlete will pick up the implement and begin walking, the course is 50' down and back. Once the athlete crosses the start line, the implement must not touch the ground or the run will be over. Athlete may stop to readjust their grip so long as the implement does not touch the ground. 60 second time limit. Athlete may use belt, sleeves, gloves, and chalk ONLY. NO TACKY ALLOWED.

Arm Over Arm Drag:

Athlete will start in a seated position behind a bracing block. The athlete may put the pull rope in whatever orientation they want. On the count, the athlete will begin to pull the vehicle over the 50' course. Once the marker crosses the line, the pull is over. 60 second time limit. 60 second time limit. Belts, and chalk ONLY. NO TACKY ALLOWED.

Growler Hold:

Athlete will start with weights in each hand. On the count, athlete will lift the stein(s) and hold them for as long as possible. Back must stay vertical and arms must stay parallel to the ground. Athlete will receive one warning if their arms start raising or lowering within a few degrees or back starts to sway. Belts and chalk ONLY. 

Atlas Stone to Shoulder:

Athlete will start standing next to the stone with their hands off the stone. On the count the athlete will grab the stone and lift it to their shoulders. The athlete must show control of the stone by removing their off arm from the stone. Athlete must show control of the stone on the way down, if the stone is dropped the rep will NOT be counted. Athlete may use any lift style they choose to get it up as long as it is in a safe and controlled manner. 60 second time limit. Belts, sleeves, chalk, and tacky allowed.

Tie Breaker:

In the event of a tie, a mystery event will take place. Whatever the event may be, it will be grueling and strenuous. 

Weights on all events are subject to change. No weights will change more than 10lbs in either direction.

The Strongest of the Strong at the Garfield County Fair & Rodeo is the first Strongman competition to be held at the Garfield County Fair & Rodeo. This year all proceeds will be going to Brent’s Place. Brent’s Place is the only certified safe-clean complex for children suffering from illness. They house the child and their family with 3 meals per day at no cost to the family. One of my family members had Leukemia and because of that, her and her family lived there for almost a year before her passing. It is because of this that all of the proceeds are going to Brent’s Place. We will have shirts for sale and donation jars placed around the event area.
