Strongest on the Prairie III

1. Max Axle Clean and Press

Novice Lightweight Men and all Women classes will start at 95 pounds, Novice Heavyweight Men, all Open Men, and Master’s classes will start at 165 pounds.  Jumps will be in 10-pound increments.  Athletes will only get three attempts.  Failure on any attempt, athlete is done. Athletes will have one minute to complete the lift from the start command.  Beating the “down” command is a no-lift, dropping the axle behind the athlete is a no-lift.  The Continental Clean is allowed and athletes can split press, but feet have to be in the same plane for the “down” command.  Wrist wraps, elbow and knees sleeves, soft and hard belts, and grip shirts are allowed.  The biggest press wins the event.

2. Yoke to Sandbags Over Bar Medley

Athletes will pick and walk a Yoke for thirty feet, go back, pick up sandbag number one, carry it to the Yoke, clear it over the bar, then repeat for sandbag number two.  The back of the Yoke must clear the finish line.  Sliding of the Yoke will result in a two-second penalty.  Athletes can make as many picks on the Yoke and/or Sandbags as they want.  Elbow and forearm sleeves, soft and hard belts, grip shirts, wrist wraps, gloves and spray tack are allowed.  Use of stone tacky will result in disqualification.  If the athlete doesn’t complete the event, Yoke will be measured to the back or Sandbag will be measured to where it was dropped.  One minute to complete, fastest time wins the event.  

3. Pin Pick Medley

Three pins will be laid out in a line of increasing weight.  Athletes will start with their hands off the implement.  Each pin must be picked up one-handed, given the down command by the judge, then repeated with the other hand before moving onto the next weight.  Multiple picks are allowed.  Wrist wraps are allowed, and chalk will be provided.  Tacky is forbidden and will result in disqualification.  One minute to complete, fastest time wins the event.  If unable to complete all the picks in one-minute, the last weight successfully picked will be recorded.  

4. Throwing Bag Medley

Three throwing bags will be laid out in increasing weight.  Female bar height is 12 feet, male is 14 feet.  Athletes must start the event with one hand on the implement.  The thrown bag must clear the height before the next bag can be attempted.  If a bag does not clear the bar or does not clear the bar within the implement supports, athletes must go get the bag, bring it back to the line, and reattempt their throw.  Wrist wraps, soft and hard belts, knees, elbow sleeves, and chalk are allowed.  The event is limited to one minute, and the winner completes the medley the fastest.  If the athlete cannot complete all the bags, the last bag to clear the bar will be recorded.

5. Four-Stone Over Bar Medley

Four stones of increasing weight over a bar in 60 seconds.  Female height is 44 inches, male height is 50 inches.  Stone sleeves, stone tacky (athlete must provide), athletic tape, grip shirt, soft belt, hard belt, and knee sleeves are allowed.  Competitors must start with their arms on the flatbed truck.  Platform height to be announced.  Fastest time wins the event.  If the athlete cannot get all five stones, the last stone successfully loaded will be recorded.

Weigh-Ins will be at Edgar's House of Pain (5131 51st Ave S #121 Fargo, ND 58104) from 8-10am and 4-7pm on Friday, July 14th.  If unable to make these times, contact Jason Ehlert @ 701.200.9208 or dakotabarbell@yahoo.com to arrange a time.  Due to the Fair schedule, we won’t be able to day-of-show weigh-ins.
