StrongforStrays Max-Mayhem
$20
Hattiesburg, MS
This is a fundraising event ; all money raised will go to benefit animals in need through Hub City Humane Society.
This event is going to be very beginner/novice friendly, as it is unsanctioned and is meant to give athletes a taste of both powerlifting and strongman, in case you weren't sure which you wanted to try.
Prizes: First place in men's and women's will receive custom lifting straps provided by Lift.NA with championship iconography and the StrongforStrays Logo. First through third in each division will also receive Lift.NA packages (more info to be provided later). First place in men's and women's will receive $50.00 Gift Cards to Southern Prohibition Brewing.
Weigh Ins: August 16th from 1PM until 6PM at the Hub City Barbell Club located at 48 Liberty Place, Hattiesburg, MS 39402. Weigh ins will also be available August 17th at 8AM at the venue.
Rules: Rules will be at 9:30AM the morning of the event. Attendance is not mandatory, however you will be held to the letter of the rules.
Volunteers: If you're available to help with spotting and loading, please reach out to me before the event.
Squat: Rising bar - the squat bar will be loaded and the weight will be continually increased. Athletes' scores will be adjusted using the Wilks Coefficient. Athletes can "jump in" at any weight. Athletes will get two attempts. The squat rack may be raised or lowered based on the athlete's preference. Athletes will unrack the weight on their own power, and will then be given two commands: Squat: Athletes will squat to below-parallel. Rack: Athlete will rack the weight.
Benchpress: Rising bar - the bench-press bar will be loaded and the weight will be continually increased. Athletes' scores will be adjusted using the Wilks Coefficient. Athletes can "jump in" at any weight. Athletes will get two attempts. The bench rack may be raised or lowered based on the athlete's preference. Athletes will unrack the weight on their own power or with the assistance of a spotter, and will then be given three commands: Bench: Athletes will lower the weight to their chest and come to a controlled pause. Press: Athletes will press the weight to lockout. Rack: Athlete will rack the weight.
Car Deadlift: Athletes will deadlift a vehicle. Women will deadlift from longer handles for more leverage ; men will deadlift with shorter handles. Athletes will have 90 seconds to deadlift the car, and after each rep a sandbag will loaded into the trunk of the vehicle, increase the weight at the handles. Athletes who "max out" the car deadlift will then rep away for additional scoring.
Sandbag-Over-Bar: Athletes will have 90 seconds to load a flight of sandbags over a set bar height. Athletes can "jump in" on any bag they choose, but may not switch to a lighter bag once a bag has been chosen. Failing a bag does not end your attempt ; just pick it up and try again until time is over. Heaviest sandbag in the fastest time wins.
Log Press: Rising bar - the log will be loaded and the weight will be continually increased. Athletes' scores will be adjusted using the Wilks Coefficient. Athletes can "jump in" at any weight. Athletes will get two attempts. The weight will start on crash pads, and athletes will be given two commands: Begin: Athletes will perform the log press, and wait for the following command. Down: Athlete will lower the weight to the ground.
