The Curse of the Pirate's Booty
$85
Westville, NJ
From the team that brought you Beer Muscles, All Valley Strongman Championship, and the Catalina Strongman Mixer, we now invite you to join us for the first ever Curse of the Pirate's Booty. Gather up your hardy crew for a day of big lifts, including a chance at a NJ state record press!
We are capped at 40 athletes! Registration will close on March 5.
-----
This is a Strongman Corporation sanctioned event. Qualifications will be available for 2026 Nationals. Qualifications are based on the number of competitors in each class on competition day, as follows:
1 athlete in class: the promoter may merge the class with another class; if the athlete competes alone they will earn an invite by completing (i.e. not “zeroing”) at least 4 of the 5 events to the standards originally set forth by the promoter.
2-4 athletes in a class: 1st place qualifies for Nationals
5-9 athletes in a class: 1st and 2nd place qualify for Nationals
10+ athletes in a class: 1st-3rd place qualify for Nationals
Masters qualify for Masters Nationals by placing Top 3 in a Masters class or Top 5 in an open class. Teens qualify for America's Strongest Teen by placing Top 3 in a Teen class or competing in a non-age group class (including Novice).
You can find additional information about qualifications for all Strongman Corporation competitions here: Qualification Standards
-----
All athletes should read the rules (below) and the official Strongman Corporation Athlete Info here: https://strongmancorporation.com/athlete-info-overview/. Pay particular attention to weigh-ins and qualifications.
All athletes must have a current Strongman Corporation membership, which can be purchased here: https://strongmancorporation.com/memberships/. Please note that USS and Strongman Corporation are not the same thing, and each federation requires a separate membership to compete.
-----
Weight classes may be combined if there are fewer than 3 participants as of competition week. In the case of combined classes, we'll use the weight limit of the heavier class and the implement weights of the lighter class.
Note that there is NO "ALLOWANCE" on the weight classes. Ex: if you're in the 80kg class, you must weigh in at 80.0kg or below. The scale will display your weight in kilos. All athletes must (minimally) wear underwear to weigh in.
-----
The event is free for spectators! No advance ticket purchase is required. Bring everyone! Breezeway Fitness will have snacks available for purchase, so bring some cash with you.
-----
Volunteer Sign-up form coming soon.

EQUIPMENT NOTES:
NO grip shorts on any event, competition shirt must be worn for ALL events except stones & log, NO briefs or suits on any event, NO powerlifting-style knee wraps on any event. Supportive gear made from neoprene is fine - this includes knee sleeves and shorts from SBD, Cerberus, and similar brands. (As a general rule, if it's keeping you warm and giving you a little support, it's fine; if it's giving you extra bounce, requires a team to squeeze into it, or it feels like cheating, it's not fine.) If you have questions, ask ahead of time.
Max Log Clean & Press (for NJ state record)
Each athlete will get 3 attempts to clean and press a log from floor to overhead. Athletes will have a 30 second time limit to complete the lift. Athletes will choose their own opener, and can skip weight jumps (rising bar format). Once an athlete is unable to complete a good lift, they will be finished irrespective of how many attempts they have made. Athlete may strict press, push press, push jerk or split jerk the log overhead to the locked out position. Athlete must wait for the “down” command before lowering the log. The athlete must lower the log under control. No deliberate dropping of the log will be permitted. The athlete may forfeit his attempt in doing so. Opening weight/number of attempts will not impact scoring, i.e. if two athletes lift the same weight, they will tie, regardless of number of attempts taken/opening weight.
A good lift means the log is locked out under control overhead with arms straight, head through, legs and feet parallel and stationary.
Implements Used: All Women will use a 10" custom log (65lbs empty). Men will use a 12" Pitbull log (85lbs empty).
Equipment Allowed: Belt, chalk, wrist wraps, elbow sleeves, knee wraps or sleeves. And, for the first time ever in a PPG event, grip shirts will be permitted for this event.
Equipment NOT Allowed: Any item placed within the belt to provide a “shelf”. Back of belt built up to no more than 8” wide. Tacky, elbow wraps.
Atlas Stone Over Bar with Trump Weight
Athlete will load an Atlas stone over bar for max reps within 60 seconds. Athlete may choose from a heavier stone or a lighter stone. Any number of reps on the heavier stone beats any number of reps on the lighter stone, and once an athlete gets any reps on the heavier stone, reps on the lighter stone are not counted (not even for breaking ties). Athlete will begin forearms touching the bar and can begin at “3-2-1 Go”. Stones cannot be loaded from the shoulder. Athlete’s hands must not touch the bar (so no grabbing onto the bar to assist). Athlete may wear any shirt (or no shirt) for this event as long as it is NOT a grip shirt. Tacky is not permitted, but tacky towels are acceptable!
Equipment Allowed: tacky towel, tape, stone sleeves, belt, knee sleeves, elbow sleeves, wrist wraps, neoprene shorts (like Cerberus, SBD, etc)
Equipment NOT Allowed: suits or briefs (the kind used in single-ply, multi-ply or other geared lifting), knee wraps (the kind used in geared powerlifting), tacky.
Deadlift Ladder
Athlete will complete 1 rep on a silver dollar deadlift, 1 rep on a wagon wheel axle deadlift, and then max reps on a deadlift bar loaded with standard metal plates. The axle is a Rogue axle bar loaded with Rogue wagon wheel bumpers to a 13 in pick height. The silver dollar deadlift is a custom built silver dollar attachment loaded onto a Rogue 20kg bar. The regular deadlift is a Texas deadlift bar. Athlete will begin hands off and may use straps after the clock starts. Score will be total number of reps completed. All three bars will be the same weight.
Equipment Allowed: Belt (hard or soft, may use two belts), knee sleeves, elbow sleeves, wrist wraps, chalk (liquid or powder). Baby powder allowed but please be conscientious about where you apply it and don’t get it all over the gym.
Equipment NOT Allowed: NO suits or briefs, knee wraps. Absolutely no baby oil, and no tacky.
Hercules “Mast” Hold
On start command, athlete will hold onto the handles as long as possible. Photos, weights, and demonstrations coming soon pending build & testing.
Equipment allowed: Chalk allowed. Wrist wraps, belt, elbow and knee sleeves.
Equipment not allowed: No straps, no tacky.
