____________EVENTS_______________

Gaia's Root Raise (Max Log Flat Bench - Last Person Standing)

Named after Gaia, the Earth Goddess/Titan, known for moving trees with ease.

  • Description: This is a last-man-standing max log bench press. Competitors will have three attempts. The event follows Wessel's Rule: pick when and where to hop in, but miss any attempt, and you're out.
  • Rules:
    • Use a 55lb, 8-inch rackable Titan log on a normal bench.
    • Two commands: Press (when the log touches your chest) and Rack (after the lift is complete).
    • One warning per missed command, failure to reset or complete the lift results in a "no lift."
    • The event will run on multiple benches, so listen for the announced weights and be ready.
  • Equipment Allowed: Any gear except tacky or gloves. Elbow sleeves, belts, and chalk are permitted. You may not stack belts on your chest to reduce range of motion for the press.

Milo's Run (25 ft Yoke Run)

Named after Milo, the ancient Roman wrestler who ran a mile with an ox on his shoulders.

  • Description: A 25-foot yoke run. The fastest time wins. There’s a 1-minute time limit, and unlimited drops are allowed.
  • Rules:
    • If multiple athletes don’t finish, the distance will be measured to the nearest 5 feet.
    • Penalties will be assessed for sliding the yoke.
    • Starting sides will alternate to be mindful of volunteers and resets.
  • Equipment Allowed: Anything except tacky. Gloves are allowed.

Eumastas' Warmup (Axle Deadlift for Reps)

Eumastas was a strongman from Ancient Greece who we know of only through an inscription on a large stone. The 1060-pound volcanic boulder reads, “Eumastas, son of Kritobolos, lifted me off the ground.”

  • Description: Perform as many axle deadlifts as possible in 30 seconds. The only command is Down once you lock out the lift and stand straight. Rebounding, hitching, and other techniques are allowed, but listen for the "Down" command.
  • Rules:
    • One warning per missed "Down" command.
    • You can strap into the bar prior to your time starting.
  • Equipment Allowed: Anything except tacky. Chalk, straps, gloves, and suits are permitted.

Samson's Seize (Arm Over Arm Sled Pull and Sled Push)

Inspired by Samson, who pulled down a temple while pushing through battle.

  • Description:
    • Arm-over-arm sled pull with a rope (approx. 10-15 feet). Will likely use large tire for athlete's feet to push against.
    • After crossing the line, immediately push the sled back across.
    • Athletes can choose to unclip the rope for the push or leave it on.
    • Time stops when the front of the sled is over the line
  • Rules:
    • Strategy: Athletes can choose when to unclip and whether to push or pull further.
  • Equipment Allowed: Anything except tacky. Gloves are allowed.

Sisyphus Struggle (Sandbag Over Bar for Reps)

Based on Sisyphus, condemned to roll a boulder uphill only for it to fall each time.

  • Description: Athletes will load a sandbag over a 48-inch bar as many times as possible within 1 minute. You can go under, over, or around the yoke when alternating sides.
  • Rules:
    • Volunteers will help hold the sides of the yoke and it will be weighted at the base, but the athlete must complete the rep and reset it.
  • Equipment Allowed: Anything except tacky. Gloves are allowed.
