EVENTS:
- Braemar Stone Throw: There is no standard size or weight of the stone. The stone must be put with one hand and with the stone remaining against the neck throughout the throw until the release. Any throwing style may be used as long as the rules are followed and the style is deemed safe by the judge. There is no approach allowed. The stone must be put from a standing position. Reversing the feet after the release is allowed. Chalk, wrist wraps and belt permitted.
- Heavy Weight for Distance: Weight for distance is a weighted ball and chain measuring no more than 18" from handle to ball. The competitor, holding onto the weight with one hand, uses a spinning motion inside of a rectangular box called a trig to gain momentum and throw the weight for maximum distance. No tacky. Wrist wrap permitted.
- Heavy Hammer: The hammer head shall be spherical and made of metal, and the shaft shall be of wood, rattan, bamboo, or plastic (PVC pipe is sometimes used for increased durability). Rattan or bamboo is recommended over wood or plastic.
The hammer will be thrown with the feet in a fixed position. There is no approach allowed in the hammer throw. The competitor may move his feet after the hammer is released. No back line is drawn for the Hammer Throw and sidelined are normally not drawn either. All fouls besides the backline foul still apply. Tacky allowed (must be cleaned off hands before moving to next event). - Farmer's Carry: Athlete will pick up the handle in each hand behind the line and carry 100ft in the quickest time. Time will stop once athlete is across the line. Unlimited drops. Chalk and belts are permitted. No wrist wraps, tacky or lifting straps.
- Sandbag Over Shoulder: A time of 60 seconds will be set. Athlete will be given a "start" command and will pick up the designated sandbag and get it over the shoulder for reps. Every pass of the shoulder will be considered a rep. A rep is counted only if the sandbag goes over the top of the shoulder. Reps will not be counted if the sandbag goes around the side of the shoulder. Chalk and belt allowed. No gloves or tacky.
- Max 18” Deadlift (VT state record attempt): Bar will be set to 18”. Conventional stance only - no sumo stance. 60 seconds to pull. Down commands will be given once deadlift is locked out. Down must be controlled. Belts, chalk, lifting straps and deadlift suits permitted.
*Events will be taking place simultaneously - order of events will be determined after registration has closed.
