This competition is designed for those curious about strongman and wanting to see how they stack up against their peers. We have chosen events that will be challenging, while also somewhat familiar, to anyone that trains heavy. There is lifting, pushing, pulling, flipping, and carrying aspects to test all-around strength and fitness. There are teen, novice, and master's divisions available for this competition. All weights are approximate and subject to change.

The Iron Ape Car Deadlift will be for max reps. Straps, sleeves, belts, and wraps permitted. No tacky, suits, or baby oil will be allowed. This will be a neutral grip deadlift from a height of about 15 inches. If you are not experienced with this kind of pull, this is easier than a standard deadlift, so don't let the weight intimidate you. The weights are approximate, but will be close to posted weights. Iron Ape has provided a variety of deadlift straps for the competitors to use for this event if they don't yet have their own!

The Central Plains Coop Tire Drag and Flip will begin with flipping either a semi or tractor tire a designated number of times. Following the designated number of flips, the competitor will then have to clip a rope onto the tire, run back to the start line, and then sit down and pull the tire back over the start line in a hand over hand fashion. Gloves and any protective equipment desired will be allowed. No tacky is allowed. What better sponsor for moving around farm tires than Central Prairie Coop!

The Ace Hardware Viking press will be for max reps. Competitor is allowed to bend knees at the beginning of the lift, but not a second time once the bar begins going up. A second bend of the knees is considered double dipping and after one warning this won't count as a lift. If you have questions about this, YouTube "Thor viking press WSM 2017". Novice and master divisions will perform the lift facing the apparatus and the open division will be facing away from the apparatus. Any protective equipment will be allowed. No tacky is allowed. Pride-Ag Ace Hardware graciously donated most of the material needed to have this implement specially made for this competition!

The Old School Carry Medley celebrates the origins of Strongman. Who can pick up heavy things and carry them the fastest. It will consist of a duck walk the length of the course, then a farmer's walk back the length of the course. The length of the course is 50 feet per implement. Placement will be by time, but those unable to finish will get distance on the second implement. Duck walk will be with a T handle loading pin and will use 25 pound plates for women and 45 pound plates for men. No straps and no tacky of any kind will be allowed. Old School Screenprinting and Design wanted to sponsor this event for obvious reasons and did an amazing job with our shirts and digital marketing!

The High Pointe Conan's Wheel is a gruelling addition to the competition. Contestant will hold the weight in front of them in the bends of the elbows and on their chest. They will then walk for as far as they can until they can't take the weight anymore. Wraps, chalk, and grip shirts allowed. High Pointe Pharms is a local grower and producer of high quality CBD products and we are excited to add them to the competition!

Weigh-ins will be by appointment the evening before the event and from 8-9:30 the day of the day of the event. There is one hotel in Sterling and two in Lyons 8 miles away for those that will be traveling. We will have concessions available, but due to the timing of the competition won't have anyone on hand to provide a full meal, so we recommend you eat before arriving and we will be done by dinner. There are some great local restaurants and we hope you would stay to have dinner with us following the competition!

All events will be done outside, weather permitting, so dress accordingly. There will be plenty of shade and water available throughout the day. Weights for the events are subject to change based on testing on the specific implements, but final weights will be similar, if not the same, as those listed.
