Mark your calendars for October 26th because Texas Legends is coming back to Garland, Texas!

We're doing something different this year and giving athletes more options on how they would like to accumulate points. With this opportunity, it's our way of encouraging more Novice athletes to give OPEN Classes a shot! Every event gives competitors a chance to approach each event in their own way with either brute strength or strategic planning. We're really excited about this year's Texas Legends and look forward to hosting everyone here at Battle Axe Barbell.

 

The final day to register to receive a complimentary event shirt with your entry fee is October 5th.

Weigh Ins/Athlete Check In:

  1. EVERYONE MUST check-in on the 25th (weigh-ins are NOT allowed the day of the event), including SHW Classes- under age of 18 must have parent at check in and day of the event.
  2. Location: 1494 W Buckingham Rd. Garland, Texas

  1. October 25th 2024 at 11:59pm.  Online entry must be submitted by this date.
  2. Contest will cap at 80 Athletes

Spectator Admission:

  1. All tickets will be sold at door (Cash or Card ONLY)
  2. Entry will be at door $10
  3. Free for ages 12 & under

Qualifying for Nationals: 

  • If there is 1 athlete in a class, they will get combined with another class or just get a regionals bid.

If there are 2-5 athletes in a class:

  • 1st place - Qualifies for Nationals (2025) and Regionals (2025)
  • 2nd - Qualifies for Regionals (2025)
  • 3rd - Qualifies for Regionals (2025)

If there are 6+ athletes in a class:

  • 1st - qualifies for Nationals (2025) and Regionals (2025)
  • 2nd - qualifies for Nationals (2025) and Regionals (2025)
  • 3rd - qualifies for Regionals (2025)
  • 4th - qualifies for Regionals (2025)

Events and Rules:

*For all events:

  1. No deadlift suits or Multi-ply of any kind
  2. No tacky or Liquid Tacky
  3. No Bare feet (shoes must be worn at all times)
  4. Contest shirt must be worn at all times
  5. No build up belts (Only 1 hard and 1 soft allowed)

 

 

 

LOG CLEAN AND PRESS - HEAVIER OR LIGHTER

Athletes will have 60 seconds to clean and press as many reps as possible. Competitors will have the option of using a HEAVIER (5 points each rep) log and LIGHTER (1 point each rep) log. Competitors will start wither their hand off of either Log, behind the platform and wait until given the 'START' command before beginning their run. Athletes can jump back and fourth between the two logs in any order they choose to accumulate as many reps and points as possible in the allotted time frame. Athletes must weight until both feet are brought together, both elbows are locked out and Log has been established under control overhead before judge will give the down command for each repetition. 12" Bartos Log for men & 10" Bartos Log for women.

 

Kabuki Trap Bar Deadlift - HIGH OR LOW HANDLES

Athletes will have 60 seconds to complete as many deadlifts as possible. The Trap Bar will start in the standing - upright position and athletes will start behind the platform with the HIGH HANDLES option facing them. When given the 'START' command, competitors will approach the Trap Bar and laying over the Trap Bar to choose either the HIGH HANDLES or the LOW HANDLES. Low Handle Reps - 3 points each. High Handle Reps - 1 point each rep. Athletes can switch between low and high handles in any order or combination they choose but may not have any assistance in switching sides throughout their run. Athlete must wait for their judges 'DOWN' command each rep at lockout to earn points. SHOES MUST BE WORN.

Straps ARE allowed. Figure 8's are NOT allowed.

 

Sandbag Carry, Load, & Drag Medley - HEAVIER OR LIGHTER

Athletes will Start at the 'Sled' side of the medley and when given he the 'START' command, will then run to the other side and choose between two different sandbags (not both), one heavier and one lighter. Competitors will then pick and carry the chosen bag 25ft and load it over a bar into a sled. Once loaded, Athletes will drag the sled an additional 25ft back to where they first picked their chosen bag. Fastest time wins. All runs with Heavier Bags chosen will supersede all other runs with Lighter Bags chosen. 

Load height for Men - 50", Women - 46".

 

Stone Gauntlet - LAP, LOAD, OR SHOULDER

Athletes will have 60 seconds to accumulate as many points as possible with one stone by either lapping it, loading it to a platform, or shouldering it. Competitors will start with their hands off of the stone and when given the 'START' command will then pick the stone and proceed to accumulate points in any order or combination that they choose to. When LAPPING the stone, competitors must establish control of the stone in their lap on top the thighs, past the knees with both arms around the stone. Once their judge has given the LAPPED command, athletes can either drop the stone to the ground or proceed to loading or shouldering the stone for additional points. Example: athlete can accumulate points by lapping multiple times just as long as they receive the LAPPED command each time after picking from ground. When LOADING the stone, athletes must have the entirety of the stone to the platform with both hands off and given the LOADED command before removing the stone off the platform themselves and beginning another attempt. Athletes are NOT allowed to roll the stone off the platform to assist to the shoulder. When SHOULDERING the stone, athletes may assist the stone to shoulder with both hands but points will not be given unless one hand is off, control is established and judge has given the DOWN command before dropping and attempting more points. 60 second time limit. Most points accumulated wins.

Load height for Men - 50", Women - 46".

Traditional Tacky, Chalk, and Liquid Chalk is NOT allowed. 

Liquid Tacky, Spray Tacky, and Tacky Towel is ALLOWED.

 

Lap: 1 Point

Load To Platform: 3 Points

Load To Shoulder: 5 Points

 

 

 

 

This will be a Strongman Corporation Nationals invite for qualifying classes. This is a Strongman Corporation sanctioned event so all athletes must prove current valid Strongman Corporation membership status before being able to compete. No membership/No compete.

IMPORTANT: REGISTRATION FEE INCREASES OCTOBER 19TH. NO REFUNDS.

Each weight class must have at least 3 or more competitors the day of competition or they will be combined.

All competitors must have a valid Strongman Corporation Card to be able to compete the day of the event.
