Event Rules & Clarifications
1. General Rules:
• Competitors must adhere to standard strongman competition conduct. Any unsportsmanlike behavior will result in disqualification.
• Each event will have a designated time limit, clearly stated before the start. Competitors must complete the lifts within this timeframe.
• The use of lifting belts, knee sleeves, wrist wraps, and chalk is permitted. However, elbow wraps, deadlift suits, and lifting straps will be permitted only in designated events (e.g., axle deadlift).
• Judges’ decisions are final. Any disputes must be brought to the head judge immediately after the event.
2. Event-Specific Rules:
• Viking Press: Event Description: Athletes will perform a max-rep overhead press using a Viking Press implement within a set time cap. The goal is to lock out as many clean reps as possible using strict pressing power, leg drive (if allowed), and full-body control.
Setup:
• A Viking Press frame is loaded with designated weight for each division.
• Handles are adjustable for neutral grip and shoulder-friendly alignment.
• Athletes will start with the implement in the “rack” position — handles at shoulder height.
• Judges will verify elbow lockout and full control at the top of each rep.
• Time begins once the athlete gives the ready signal and the judge initiates the countdown.
Execution:
1. Athlete unracks the Viking Press implement and begins pressing overhead.
2. Each rep must end in a fully locked out position — elbows extended, implement stable overhead.
3. Athlete must return the bar to shoulder height under control before initiating the next rep.
4. No resting on the head or bouncing reps off the frame.
The rep count ends when:
• Time expires
• Athlete drops or racks the implement early
• Form breaks and reps are not locked out per judge’s call
------------------------------
• Axle Deadlift: Event Description: Athletes will perform a max-rep deadlift using an Axle Bar, a thick-handled barbell that removes the spring and grip ease of a standard bar. The event tests raw posterior chain power, grip stamina (even with straps), and grit under fatigue. Reps are performed within a set time limit.
Setup:
• A 2” thick axle bar is loaded with fixed weight based on division.
• Straps are allowed (must be attached before time begins).
• Conventional stance required (no sumo).
• Bar starts from the floor, fully dead — no touch-and-go reps allowed unless specified.
• Judges will call “down” after a full lockout and controlled descent.
Execution:
1. Athlete approaches the bar, sets straps if desired, and waits for the start signal.
2. Each rep must start from the floor and be lifted to full extension — hips and knees locked, shoulders back.
3. Athlete must wait for the “down” call from the judge before lowering the bar under control.
4. Reps that aren’t locked out, dropped early, or performed with poor control will not be counted.
The rep count ends when:
• Time expires
• Athlete drops the bar
• Grip or form fails
• Judge disqualifies a rep
------------------------------
• Sandbag Over Bar: Event Description: Athletes will perform a timed sandbag loading event, moving a series of heavy bags back and forth over a 50” bar. This event tests explosive strength, speed, accuracy, conditioning, and grit — all while handling awkward, unbalanced weight that mimics real-world scenarios.
Setup:
• A 50” bar or yoke crossbar is set at standard height for all divisions.
• Multiple sandbags (typically 2 or 3) are positioned in front of the bar.
• Once time starts, athletes load a bag over the bar, then move to the opposite side and repeat — continuing this back-and-forth pattern until time expires.
• Bags must fully clear the bar and land cleanly on the ground. No dragging or half-lifts.
• Score is total number of clean loads in the time allowed.
Execution:
1. Athlete starts behind the designated starting line with hands off the bag.
2. On the judge’s “GO” command, the athlete picks up the first bag and loads it over the bar.
3. Athlete moves to the other side, picks up the same or next bag, and repeats.
4. Event continues as a continuous relay until time is called.
The event ends when:
• Time expires
• Athlete cannot complete another load
• Bag is improperly loaded or doesn’t clear the bar
• Athlete fails to move between sides
------------------------------
• Titan Stud Bar Hold: Event Redesign: Titan Stud Bar Hold (Prone Position) Event Description: Athletes will perform a max-time static bar hold while laying prone (face-down) on a sturdy elevated bench. The bar will rest in a cradle beneath the bench. Only the athlete’s grip will support the bar once lifted — no legs, thighs, or body contact allowed.
Setup:
• A flat bench is secured to a raised platform, allowing the bar to hang freely beneath it.
• A heavy-duty Stud Bar or axle bar is positioned directly below the bench in a secure cradle.
• Bar handles are centered under the bench to allow equal grip distance on both sides.
• Judges or loaders will ensure the bar is resting properly before each attempt.
Execution:
1. The athlete lays completely flat on the bench in a prone position — chest, hips, and legs in contact with the surface. Feet remain off the ground.
2. The athlete reaches down, grips the bar, and lifts it off the cradle using grip and upper body only.
3. As soon as the bar clears the cradle, the timer begins.
The hold continues until:
• The bar is dropped
• The athlete loses form
• Grip fails
Why It Works:
• Prevents leg or lap bracing
• Forces clean, raw grip endurance
• Keeps the lumbar spine protected by removing any pull from a standing or leaned-forward position
• Adds a clean, visual standard for judges and spectators
------------------------------
• MAS Wrestling Tiebreaker: Event Description: MAS Wrestling is a one-on-one test of grip, leverage, core power, and mental toughness. Athletes sit facing each other with feet braced against a central board, both gripping a short stick.
The goal:
Pull the stick away from your opponent or pull them over the board. It’s raw, primal, and unforgiving — perfect for deciding ties.
Setup:
• Athletes are seated feet-to-feet with a center board separating them (standard MAS Wrestling platform).
• A wooden dowel or MAS stick is placed between them and held with both hands (overhand or mixed grip allowed).
• Heels must touch the board. Hips must stay on the ground.
• Hands must remain on the stick throughout the match.
• The athletes either take control of the stick or pull the opponent across the board wins the round.
Execution:
1. On the judge’s signal, both competitors pull with everything they’ve got.
2. Victory is awarded if:
• You rip the stick from your opponent’s grip
• You cause them to lose footing or be pulled over the board
• Their hands slip or release contact
------------------------------
3. Weight Classes & Scoring:
• Athletes will compete within their designated weight class.
• Overall scoring is determined by a points system: highest placements receive the most points, with rankings based on time, reps, or distance, depending on the event.
• In case of a tie in total points, MAS Wrestling will serve as the official tiebreaker.
------------------------------
Master's Single Class Divisions:
For this competition, the following divisions will be run as single class:
• Masters Men (40+)
• Masters Women (40+)
• Teen Division (13–19)
This means that all eligible competitors in these divisions will compete in one class, regardless of bodyweight. There will be no weight splits within these groups. This format helps encourage participation, streamline the event, and keep the competition exciting and fair. Placings in these divisions are still eligible for awards, recognition, and potential USS Nationals qualification, based on turnout and event standards. At the national level, qualified athletes may be placed into appropriate weight classes based on their official bodyweight at the time of registration. If you have any questions about which division to choose, feel free to reach out before signing up!

Safety & Emergency Measures
1. Spotting & Equipment Safety:
• Dedicated spotters will be present for all lifting events to ensure safety.
• Competitors must listen to judges and spotters at all times—failure to do so may result in event disqualification.
• Any equipment failures will result in a pause and restart at the judge’s discretion.
2. Medical Readiness:
• A certified medical professional will be on-site throughout the competition.
• Athletes experiencing dizziness, excessive fatigue, or signs of injury must report to the medical team before continuing.
3. Heat & Hydration Precautions:
• Water stations will be provided to prevent dehydration.
• Competitors are encouraged to bring hydration supplements and cooling gear, as temperatures may fluctuate.
4. Competitor Conduct & Assistance:
• If a competitor is visibly struggling with an event, the judge or spotters have the authority to call a stop for safety reasons.
• Assistance from coaches or spectators is strictly prohibited during lifts and events.
