THE STEEL HORSE STRONGMAN SHOWDOWN is back, FOR ITS 2ND YEAR! May 4th, 2024

We would like to introduce along with the Iron Warehouse and The Steel Horse Rally The Steel Horse Strongman Showdown held right in Fort Smith, AR at the Riverfront Pavilion on May 4th, 2024! 

This will be a Strongman Corporation Nationals invite for qualifying classes. This is a Strongman Corporation sanctioned event so all athletes must prove current valid Strongman Corporation membership status before being able to compete. No membership/No compete.

The final day to register to receive a complimentary event shirt with your entry fee is April 4, 2024. 

Each weight class must have at least 3 or more competitors the day of competition or they may be combined.

All competitors must have a valid Strongman Corporation Card to be able to compete the day of the event.

1. EVERYONE MUST check-in on the 3rd (weigh-ins are NOT allowed the day of the event), including SHW Classes- under age of 18 must have parent at check in

Spectator Admission:

Qualifying for Nationals: 

• If there is 1 athlete in a class, they will get combined with another class or just get a regionals bid.

If there are 2-5 athletes in a class:

• 1st place - Qualifies for Nationals (2024) and Regionals (2024)
• 2nd - Qualifies for Regionals (2024)
• 3rd - Qualifies for Regionals (2024)

If there are 6+ athletes in a class:

• 1st - qualifies for Nationals (2024) and Regionals (2024)
• 2nd - qualifies for Nationals (2024) and Regionals (2024)
• 3rd - qualifies for Regionals (2024)
• 4th - qualifies for Regionals (2024)

*For all events:

1. No deadlift suits or Multi-ply of any kind
2. No tacky/ tacky towel or spray tacky
3. No Bare feet (shoes must be worn at all times)
4. Contest shirt must be worn at all times
5. No build up belts (Only 1 hard and 1 soft allowed)

Keg Clean & Press for Reps

Athletes will have 60 seconds to clean & press Keg from the floor and press it overhead. Athletes must clean and press each rep. The Athlete WILL be given a down command when Keg is fully locked out and feet are even.

All kinds of pressing are allowed, split jerk, power jerk, push press, and/or strict press.

Athlete must maintain control of the implement. If implement rolls or bounces off of platform then rep will not count.

ITEMS ALLOWED: wrist wraps, knee sleeves, elbow sleeves, 1 soft belt, 1 hard belt either a leather or a hard Velcro belt (one or the other, not both), shoes must be worn at all times.

Single Hand Farmer Carry/Yoke

Athletes will start with their right hand on the Farmer handle then carry the Farmer Handle 20ft before setting handle down and grabbing with the left hand to comeback 20ft with Farmer Handle. Then athlete will transition to Yoke and carry the Yoke 20ft down and 20 ft back. There will be a 60 second time limit for all competitors. If the competitor does not finish they will be given a distance.

Sandbag Throw Ladder (12ft women/15ft men)

Athletes will start 10ft back from first sandbag with their hand on the apparatus. Once given the "GO" command, athletes will begin throwing each sandbag over the bar in ascending weight. Each previous sandbag must be thrown over the bar before the next heavier bag can be attempted. Time ends once the 3rd sandbag goes over the bar and hits the floor. 45 second time limit.

Car Deadlift

Athletes will deadlift a car for as many reps as possible in 60 secs.  Must wait for up and down calls.  Straps allowed, no suits or briefs. Athlete will strap in on their time once judge says go. Car Deadlift is side handle.
