Vengeance of the Valkyries III

Weigh-Ins (no exceptions):

Friday 2/2/24: 1-4pm

Saturday 2/3/24: 8-9am

Athlete Meeting: 9am(Mandatory for all athletes)

Contest Time: 9:30am

Spectator fee: $15 (sold at door)
 

Events:
Wagon Wheel Axle Press (from jerk blocks) 

**height of athlete's jerk blocks will be taken at weigh ins 

• Athlete will have 60s to press the implement as many reps as they can
• Implement will be on padded jerk blocks (you do not have to clean, just press away)
• Judge will give down command when knees are locked, hips are through, elbows are locked and head is through.
• A no rep will be given for tree topping or dropping before getting down command.
• Allowed: chalk, wrist wraps, elbow sleeves, belts, knee sleeves
• Not allowed: liquid chalk, tacky, straps, tree topping (dropping from overhead)

Surprise Medley

• I know I said that if we get 30 athletes by the end of October then I’ll release the info...and we didn't get that many until December.....but I'll be nice a release them anyway
• Athlete will have 90 seconds to pick a yoke and move with it on their back to a 50' line. They then will run back to the starting line and pick a sandbag, carrying it however they wish to the yoke where they will need to get it over the crossbar
• Strategy ladies: Do you keep a higher yoke height so that the yoke portion of the event is easier, but the SB portion is harder at the end? OR Do you keep your yoke height lower to the ground so that the yoke portion is more difficult but the SB portion is easier at the end? Pick. Your. Poison. :)
• Weight Matrix: First number is yoke, second number is the range in which your SB will be
• Allowed: chalk, grip shirts, gloves, wrist, belts, elbow and knee sleeves
• Not allowed: tacky, liquid chalk, using the yoke or crossbar to get the sandbag over the bar, carrying the yoke any way other than on your back
   

Wagon Wheel Axle Deadlift 

• Athlete will have 60s to deadlift an axle bar with wagon wheels for as many reps as they can.
• Athlete can strap in prior to beginning the lift
• The judge will give a down command once the athlete stands fully upright with knees locked, hips through and shoulders back.
• A no rep will be given for bouncing or if the athlete begins to descend prior to receiving the down command
• Allowed: chalk, straps, knee sleeves, soft or hard belts
• Not Allowed: tacky, deadlift suits

Max Keg Over Bar

• We will call out keg weights from lightest to heaviest and everyone no matter what class jumps in.
• 48" is the height of the bar for all classes
• Wessels Rules: 3 attempts, if you miss an attempt you’re out but you have the full 60s to complete the lift
• Allowed:  grip shirt and all other standard strongman supportive equipment, chalk
• Not allowed: tacky, liquid chalk, OSG/SC grip shirts

Harnessed Truck Pull (forward facing) 

• Athlete will have 60s to pull a truck, via harness, to the finish line
• Athlete must be facing forward
• Distance TBD
• Allowed: chalk, gloves, elbow and knee sleeves, belts
• Not allowed: facing backwards

1st place- qualify for nationals and medal

2nd and 3rd- medals and swag bags

OPEN (including masters) 

1st Place- cash prizes (for classes with 5+ athletes) and trophies

2nd and 3rd- medals and swag bags from sponsors

**novice and masters will be combined if they do not have at least 5 in each subdivision
