- 10+ athletes in a class: 1st-3rd place qualify for Nationals
Weigh-ins are Friday October 3rd, 4:00PM until 6:00PM, and Saturday July 20th, 8:00AM until 9:00AM.
Rules begin at 9:30 AM and lifting event 1 starts at 10 AM.
Event Rules:
Deadlift Medley: Athlete starts with hands off of implement. Athlete has 60 seconds to deadlift each bar in order lightest to heaviest. You may not drop the bar from the top of the lift, controlled return to the ground must be observed. Slamming the weight or dropping the bar from the top of the lift will result in a 'failed lift'. Athlete must wait for a down call. NO SUMO.
Equipment Allowed
- Belts, wraps, straps (this does include Figure-8's), sleeves, grip shirts, chalk
Equipment Not Allowed
- Any Tacky products, no gloves, deadlift suits/briefs.
Max Log Overhead Press: WESSELS RULES (3 attempts, if you miss an attempt, you're done) - Athlete will have 30 seconds to complete the lift after being given the go ahead from the judge/ref. The log must be controlled back to the ground. (No Throwing of the implement). The log does not need to be returned to the chest on the descent, only controlled to the ground. Any dropped lift will result in a failed lift and will not count. If you are told your lift does not count, you may attempt it again providing you still have time within your allotted 60 seconds for that particular lift. Each athlete has 3 attempts, minimum 10lb jumps. Lift is completed when the judge calls “down”. To receive the “down” call, the lifter must have knees, hips and shoulders locked out and head “through”. Athlete to nominate their second lift weight immediately after completion of their first lift and their third lift weight immediately after completion of their second lift. If the athlete successfully locks out a rep just before the buzzer but then drops the implement in an uncontrolled way, the rep will not count. The log can not be rested on the top of the head during the lift. It may however be allowed to touch the head during the upward trajectory.
Spotter on Log Lift: if a spotter is on the log lifting event and they intervene with a lift, the log has to be reset to the ground for the lift to start again. If it is deemed that the log spotter stepped in too early, which can only be ruled by the judge, then the lifter can opt to have another 30 seconds added to their time then and there, or they can take this lift again at the end of the round of their flight. If the lifter chooses to continue during their current 30 seconds, they will not be allowed to take another 30 seconds after the round, if they fail during their current lift period.
Equipment Allowed
- Belts, wraps, sleeves, grip shirts, chalk
Equipment Not Allowed
- Any Tacky products, straps.
Sandbag Snowman: Athletes within a 1 min timeframe will load up to 3 sandbags, heavy to light, onto a platform 1 on top of the other (making a sandbag snowman). Athletes will have 4 total sandbag weight options, and may start with any of the 4, as long as they do not go from a lighter weight to a heavier weight. Total weight will be used for scoring, then time used to complete the snowman. If the sandbags fall prior to completion, the fallen sandbags must be re lifted in the correct order and within the 1 min limit in order to be counted on the athlete's score (so if your top sandbag is not stable/falls at the end of attempt/time limit, that top sandbag would not be included in the attempt scoring.)
Equipment Allowed
- Belts, wraps, sleeves, grip shirts, chalk, gloves
Equipment Not Allowed
- Any Tacky products, or items to wrap around the bag.
Sandbag Toss for Distance: Each athlete will throw a sandbag for distance, up to 2 attempts (athlete will receive score based on best attempt), 30sec allowance per attempt from 'Go' command - dealer's choice, may be thrown using any method of the athlete's choosing as long as the athlete remains behind the defined throwing line. There will be a defined event area, if the bag goes out of this zone, it will be 'failed' attempt. (Basically, just don't want the sandbag going too far left or right as to keep spectators safe.)
Equipment Allowed
- Belts, wraps, sleeves, grip shirts, gloves, chalk
Equipment Not Allowed
- Any Tacky products.
Movement Medley: By popular demand, the car push is returning...but with some small changes. The athlete will carry a weighted yoke for a pre-defined distance and then go into the car push.
Equipment Allowed
- Belts, wraps, sleeves, grip shirts, gloves, chalk
Equipment Not Allowed
- Any Tacky products.
Other notes:
Comp shirts must be worn for all events (please keep in mind the earlier you register the easier it will be to make sure your requested shirt size is available)
